14 Division's "Fugitive Friday" Paul Ramirez, 33, Update, Arrested and charged

On September 19, 2019, 14 Division's "Fugitive Friday" was issued for Paul Ramirez, 33, of Toronto.

On Monday, February 10, 2020, he was arrested by 42 Division officers and charged with:

1) Theft of Motor Vehicle
2) Two counts of Fail to Comply
3) Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, 10 a.m., room 103.

Missing Man Located, Humber College Boulevard and Highway 27 area Tullio Viglione, 77

Child Sexual Abuse Material investigation, Joseph Vermulst, 32

On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, as part of an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material, members of the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation Section executed a Criminal Code search warrant in the Thickson Road and Rossland Road East area of Whitby, Ontario.

It is alleged that:

- a man made, accessed, possessed, and made available child sexual abuse material over the Internet.

Joseph Vermulst, 32, of Whitby, was arrested and charged with:

1. Two counts of Possession of Child Pornography
2. Two counts of Access Child Pornography
3. Two counts of Make Available Child Pornography
4. Make Child Pornography

Joseph Vermulst is employed by the Durham Catholic District School Board as a Teacher's Assistant and has worked at the following schools:

- Good Shepherd Catholic School, from March 18, 2019 to February 11, 2020

- St. James Catholic School, from April 1, 2016 to August 31, 2016

- Father Fenelon Catholic School, from September 1, 2016 to August 29, 2018

- St. James Catholic School, from August 30, 2018 to March 15, 2019

He has also worked as a Long Term Occasional Educational Assistant at the following schools:

- St. Bernard Catholic School, from September 3, 2013 to January 31, 2014

- St. Andre Catholic School, from August 28, 2014, to January 28, 2015

- St. Josephine Bakhita Catholic School, from August 28, 2104 to January 23, 2015

- St. James Catholic School, from September 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016

He was scheduled to appear in court, on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 10 a.m., at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, Room 407.

Missing Girl Located, Kennedy Subway Station, Shawntaya Mackenzie, 15

Shawntaya Mackenzie, 15, was last seen on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 3:30 p.m., in the Kennedy Subway Station area.

Man Arrested for Home Invasion Robbery in Toronto

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of a male arrested in relation to a home invasion robbery that occurred in Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on August 23, 2019, a home invasion robbery was committed in the Strachan Avenue and King Street West area.

- three suspects attended the victims residence and identified themselves as building “security officers”

- the victim opened the door and the three suspects forced their way inside while one was armed with a handgun

- the suspects made a demand for money and then began searching the apartment

- the suspects were unable to locate any money and eventually fled the scene


Tarik Chaouche, 22, of Toronto is charged with:

1) Robbery With Firearm
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence

He appeared in court for a Bail Hearing on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., at Old City Hall, Room 101

Hold Up Squad investigators are continuing attempts to identify the other suspects.

Public Safety Alert, Beverly Street and D’Arcy Street area, Stolen medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of stolen medication.

It was reported that:

- on Saturday, February 15, 2020, between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., two containers of Methadone and one vile of Testosterone were stolen from a parked vehicle Beverly Street and D’Arcy Street area.

The medication could be harmful/fatal if ingested, especially to children.

TTC Assault Investigation, Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Avenue, Man Arrested, Michael Hennessey, 46

The Toronto Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in relation to an assault investigation.

Detectives launched an investigation into an incident that occurred on Friday, February 7, 2020, at 2:30 p.m., in the Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street area.

It is alleged:

- a 24-year-old woman was on board a TTC bus on route #75

- she was wearing a protective medical mask

- a man began insulting her for the use of the mask

- she took a picture of him

- he grabbed her in an attempt to get her camera

On Friday, February 14, 2020, Michael Hennessey, 46, of Toronto, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Assault
3) Attempt Theft Under $5000
4) Mischief Under $5000

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at College Park, in courtroom 505, at 2 p.m.

Identity sought of two men for Robbery Investigation, Kipling Avenue and Steeles Avenue West area,

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying two men as part of a robbery investigation.

Detectives have launched an investigation into a robbery that occurred on Sunday February 16th, 2020, at approximately 4:55 p.m., in the Kipling Avenue and Steeles Avenue West area.

It is reported that:

- a man was waiting out front of an address
- two men asked the victim for marijuana
- he advised he did not have any and walked away
- the two men followed him
- the two men asked the victim about his gold chain around his neck and began chasing the victim
- the two men caught the victim, put a knife to him and threatened to stab him
- the two men then pulled the victim's chain off and took his backpack
- the two men were last seen running toward Kipling Avenue
- the victim sustained a cut to his torso

The first suspect is described as 18-20 years old, 5’10’’-5’11’’, skinny build, clean shaven. He was wearing black pants with white stripes, black and white running shoes, black jacket with a black hoodie over his head

The second suspect is described as 19-20 years old, 6’0’’, skinny build, very small moustache. He was wearing black pants, a black “moose knuckle” jacket with white fur on hoodie, black baseball hat with large white lettering on the front

Images have been released.

Witnesses were nearby and the police are appealing for them to contact investigators at 23 Division.

Three arrested for Retail Robbery in Toronto

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of three arrests made in relation to a retail robbery that occurred in Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, a retail store robbery was committed in the Eglinton Avenue West and Spadina Road area

- two suspects entered the store while concealing their faces

- one of the suspects was armed with a large knife

- the suspects assaulted the store employee and forced them to open the safe

- the suspect took a quantity of cellular phones

- they were then observed fleeing the scene in a car

On Thursday, February 13, 2020, Hold Up Squad investigators located a male in the company of two other males. All three males were arrested.

Investigators then executed two search warrants, and located and seized clothing and property related to the robberies.

Zuheib Abdirahman, 19, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. Possession Property Obtained by Crime

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue, on Wednesday, March 26, 2020, at 2 p.m., room 202.

A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. Robbery With Offensive Weapon
2. Disguise With Intent
3. Possession Property Obtained by Crime
4. Fail to Comply Recognizance

A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. Robbery With Offensive Weapon
2. Disguise With Intent
3. Possession Property Obtained by Crime

Both boys appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue, on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 10 a.m., room 204.

Four Males arrested for five Retail Robberies in the GTA

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of three men and a boy arrested in relation to five retail robberies that occurred in Toronto and York Region.

It is alleged that:

- between Monday, January 27, 2020 and Thursday, February 13, 2020, five retail store robberies were committed in the Toronto, Stouffville and Markham areas

- three suspects entered the stores while concealing their faces

- one of the suspects was armed with black handgun

- the suspects took control of the store employee(s)

- the suspects took a quantity of cellular phones and cash

- they were then observed fleeing the scene in a car driven by a fourth suspect

- on two of the incidents, the suspects were unable to gain access to the inside of the stores and nothing was obtained

On Thursday, February 13, 2020, investigators from York Region and Toronto Hold Up Squad located the alleged getaway vehicle with four males inside along with suspected stolen property and a black handgun.

All four males were arrested for the robberies. Investigators then executed five search warrants and located and seized clothing and property related to the robberies.

Andy Plaz, 19, Shaquille Orain Bowen, 19, Delondo Lewis, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, all of Toronto, were each charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
2. two counts of Robbery
3. Disguise With Intent

They all appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 10 a.m., room 412.

Man arrested for two Retail Robberies in Toronto

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in relation to two retail robberies that occurred in Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on both Saturday, February 8, 2020 and Wednesday, February 12, 2020, a retail store robbery was committed in Toronto

- in one of the incidents, a man entered the store while concealing his face with a black balaclava

- in the other incident, the same man was armed with a knife

- in each incident, he approached the store employee(s) and made demands for money, cigarettes and lottery tickets

- he took a quantity of money, cigarettes and lottery tickets

- he was then observed fleeing the area on foot

Hold Up Squad investigators located and arrested a man. A search warrant was executed and officers located and seized clothing, as well as property, related to the robberies.

Nicholas Lester McGrath, 30, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. two counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
2. two counts of Disguise With Intent
3. Possession of Weapon
4. two counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime
5. two counts of Fail to Comply Probation

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 17, 2020, 2 p.m., room 101.

Missing woman located, Suzanne Crawford, 58, Keele Street and Wilson Avenue area

Missing Woman, Kingston Road and Bellamy Road, Ena Marne, 70

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Ena Marne, 70, was last seen on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 5:17 p.m., in the Kingston Road and Bellamy Road area.

She is described as 5,7”, thin build, 120 lbs, with black short hair. She was last seen wearing a red and black jacket with a hood, black pants, black shoes and a black purse.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Missing girl located, Yonge Street and King Street West area, Erin Mosher, 16,

Personal Injury Collision #6/2020, Jane Street near Shoreham Drive

On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at approximately 6:20 p.m., police received a report of a collision at Jane Street near Shoreham Drive.

It is reported that:

- a 79-year-old man was driving a grey Toyota Yaris northbound on Jane Street, north of Shoreham Drive

- an 87-year-old man was crossing Jane Street, from the west to east curb

- he was struck by the Toyota

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Missing Man, Lake Shore Boulevard West and Twenty Eighth Street , Kenneth Joseph Blackburn, 52

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Kenneth Joseph Blackburn, 52, was last seen Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Twenty Eighth Street area.

He is described as 5’7”, medium to heavy build, short black receding hair. There is no clothing description at this time.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Sexual Assault Alert, Man Arrested

The Toronto Police Service is advising the public of an on-going sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged:

- on Friday, February 14, 2020, a man sexually assaulted a woman while she received a massage at a spa located in the Steeles Avenue West and Yonge Street area.

- the man was working as a massage therapist

On Tuesday, February 18, 2019, Napoleon Arenas, 63, of Brampton, was charged.
He is charged with:

1. Sexual Assault
2. Fail to Comply with Release Order

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be other victims.
