Human Trafficking investigation, Man arrested

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a human trafficking investigation, that was done in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the U.S. Customs Agency and Peel Regional Police Service.

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, officers began an investigation into human trafficking of a girl under 14 years of age.

It is alleged that:

- a girl was forced into the sex trade, providing sexual services for money

- all of the money she earned was taken by her trafficker

Tal Amdurski, 37, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Trafficking in Persons under 18 by Recruiting
2. Financial/Material Benefit from Trafficking Persons Under 18
3. Material Benefit from Sexual Services by Person Under 18
4. Exercising Control over Person Under 18
5. Advertising Another Person's Sexual Services
6. Sexual Assault
7. Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16
8. Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration from a Person Under 18

He appeared in court, at Old City Hall, on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 10 a.m., in room 101.


It is further alleged that:

- on Tuesday, June 7, 2018, a man solicited sexual services from the girl

- he is a resident of the United States who travels to Toronto for business


Tomas Graff, 57, of Brook Park, Minnesota, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration from a Person Under 18
2. Sexual Assault
3. Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16
4. Invitation to Sexual Touching Under 16

He appeared in court, at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, February 1, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 204.


Police believe there may be other victims.

Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report human trafficking occurrences to police. We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.

The Human Trafficking Enforcement Team would like the public to be aware that many adults and children are trafficked into the sex trade and purchasing their services is a criminal offence. We will investigate these occurrences and arrest perpetrators, no matter their country of origin.

Missing Man, King Street and Shaw Street, Ali Kiamarz Milani, 36

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Ali Kiamarz Milani, 36, was last seen on Monday, February 11, 2019, at approximately 12 p.m., in the King Street West and Shaw Street area.

He is described as 5’6", 150 lbs., with short brown straggly hair, and prominent brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a blue/grey polyester jacket, grey sweatpants, blue and white shoes and a grey toque.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Mischief - Endanger life investigation, Woman wanted, Update, Marcella Zoia, 19, now charged

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance identifying a woman wanted in a Mischief - Endanger Life investigation.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, officers started an investigation into a mischief that occurred in the Harbour Street and York Street area.

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 7 a.m., Marcella Zoia, 19, of Toronto, surrendered to police. She is charged with:

1. Mischief - Endanger Life
2. Mischief - Damage Property Under $5000
3. Common Nuisance

She will appear in court, at College Park, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in room 505.

Sexual Assault Alert, Man arrested, Nathaniel Allen-Hall, 28

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of a man arrested in a sexual assault investigation on TTC property and vehicles.

On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 1 p.m., officers responded to a call for a sexual assault in the Bloor Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- an 18-year-old woman boarded the Ossington 63 bus

- the bus was busy with many passengers on board

- a man got up from his seat and stood next to her

- he sexually assaulted her then fled the scene

On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for a sexual assault in the Bloor Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

It is further alleged that:

- a 30-year-old woman was sitting on the Ossington 63 bus

- a man approached her and stood in front of her

- he committed an indecent act

- the woman jumped up and fled the bus into Ossington Subway Station

- the man followed her into the station

- he fled when she alerted other people

Nathaniel Allen-Hall, 28, of Toronto, has been arrested by TTC Special Constables and turned over to investigators. He is charged with:

1. Sexual Assault
2. Indecent Act

He will appear in court, at Old City Hall, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 101.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Homicide #7/2019, 4110 Lawrence Avenue East, Dean Howlett, 25

On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 2:51 p.m., police responded to a call for the Sound of Gunshots at 4110 Lawrence Avenue East.

Officers arrived on scene and located a man in the stairwell of the building suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

He has been identified as Dean Howlett, 25, of Whitby.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday, February 14, 2019.

Missing Man, Symington Avenue and Davenport Road, Iziah Peter, 31

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Iziah Peter, 31, was last seen on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at 5 p.m., in the Symington Avenue and Davenport Road area.

He is described as a 5'9", 161 lbs., short black hair, slim build, brown eyes and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing light blue jeans, a black sweater with a red writing on the front, a black leather winter jacket with fur on the hood.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Robbery/Kidnapping investigation, Wilmington Avenue and Maxwell Street, Four men wanted

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying four men and a vehicle involved in two robberies and kidnappings.

On Friday, February 8, 2019, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a robbery involving a kidnapping occurred in the area of Wilmington Avenue and Maxwell Street.

It is reported that:

- a white, newer model Mercedes SUV approached an 18-year-old man

- two men got out of the vehicle and forced the man into the car at gunpoint, where a third man was waiting

- the men robbed the 18-year-old of his personal property

- he was then driven around, taken to a bank where another man accessed an ATM and withdrew a quantity of cash using his card

- the men then dropped him off in a nearby area


Suspect #1 is described as black, 6'0"-6'1", approximately 20-years-old, with a thin build, and curly hair. He was wearing a red jacket, a dark-coloured toque, and light-coloured pants. This man was in possession of a handgun.

Suspect #2 is described as black, 5'11", approximately 20-years-old, with short curly hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured jacket.

Suspect #3 is described as black, 5'11"-6'0", approximately 20-years-old, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark-coloured scarf around his head.

Suspect #4 is described as black, 6'0", approximately 20-years-old, with a thin build. He was wearing all dark clothing.


On Sunday, February 10, 2019, at approximately 4:45 a.m., a robbery involving a kidnapping occurred in the area of Churchill Avenue and Senlac Road.

It is reported that:

- a white, newer model Mercedes SUV, approached a 31-year-old man

- three men got out of the vehicle and approached the man, making demands for his items

- the three men then forced the man into the vehicle at gunpoint

- the men drove to the man's home where they stole the man's vehicle

- the men then drove the man to a nearby area and dropped him off


Suspect #1 is described as 6'2"-6'3", 175 lbs., in his mid-to-late twenties. He was wearing a white coat with fur trim and had his face covered. He was in possession of a handgun.

Suspect #2 is described as brown, 5'11"-6'0", with a chubby face, and crooked teeth. He was wearing a green jacket and a black toque.

Suspect #3 is described as 5'7"-5'8". He was wearing a black jacket with brown fur trim and had his face covered. He was also in possession of a handgun.

Drug Trafficking and Firearm investigation, Gordon Baker Road and Victoria Park Avenue, Two men arrested

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a drug trafficking investigation.

On Monday, February 11, 2019, police conducted a vehicle stop in the Gordon Baker Road and Victoria Park Avenue area.

Two men were arrested and it is alleged that a loaded handgun, a quantity of cocaine and fentanyl were located in the vehicle.

Christopher Reyes, 24, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Two counts of Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking
2. Possession of Proceeds of Crime
3. Possess Firearm while Prohibited
4. Three counts of Possess Prohibited Device knowing no Authority
5. Breach of Probation Order
6. Possess Counterfeit Money
7. Possess Restricted Firearm without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
8. Possess Restricted Firearm Knowingly not Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
9. Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
10. Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
11. Possess Prohibited Device knowing no Authority
12. Transport Firearm Carelessly
13. Store Firearm Carelessly
14. Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime

Ryan Chin, 27, of, Toronto has been charged with:

1. Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking
2. Possession of Proceeds of Crime

They were both scheduled to appear in court, at Old City Hall, on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 101.

Fraud investigation, Man arrested

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a man operating under the alias of "Ignacio Onassis" offered behavioural counselling sessions

- the man advertised that he had specific qualifications and certifications, which were fraudulent

On Monday, August 21, 2018, Ignacio Simmons, 48, of Toronto was charged with:

1. Fraud Under $5000
2. False Pretence

He is scheduled to appear in court, at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Friday, February 22, 2019.

As a result of further investigation, police now believe there may be other victims.

Homicide #8/2019, 21 Bergamot Avenue

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 10:50 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting at 21 Bergamot Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and located a man suffering from gunshot wounds, lying on the ground outside of the building. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

ATM robberies investigation, Lawrence Avenue East and Birchmount Road, Man wanted

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man wanted in relation to a series of ATM robberies.

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to a call for a robbery in the Lawrence Avenue East and Birchmount Road area.

It is reported that:

- a woman entered the ATM vestibule to deposit some money

- a man, who was lingering at the entrance, followed her inside

- the man produced a knife and made a demand for money

- the two became involved in a physical altercation, at which point the man obtained a quantity of cash and fled

- the woman did not suffer any serious injuries

The man is described as 6'0", with a medium build, and a light complexion. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, with the hood worn up, a black and grey toque, grey pants and black shoes.

Security camera images of the man have been released.

Investigators believe he is responsible for five other similar robberies at ATMs in the area bounded by Victoria Park Avenue, Markham Road, Sheppard Avenue East and Lawrence Avenue East.

He is believed to be violent, armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Investigators would like to remind members of the public to be aware of their surroundings, and remain alert, particularly when using ATMs.

Elena Papushina, 79, was last seen on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at approximately 12 p.m., in the Elm Ridge Drive and Allen Road area.

She is described as 5'6", and 154 lbs. She was last seen wearing a black coat, dark grey pants, dark winter boots, a blue wool toque, and grey mittens.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Sexual Assault Alert, Greenwood and Woodbine subway station, Man wanted

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an on-going sexual assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 10:32 a.m., a woman, 21, was travelling westbound on a subway train

- a man boarded the same train at Woodbine Subway Station

- the man sat beside the woman

- he committed an indecent act, grabbed the woman and sexually assaulted her

- he then fled on foot once the train came to a stop at Greenwood Subway station


The man was described as 5'5", with a thin build, late teens to early 20s, with short brown/black hair, and clean shaven. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, a grey top with a burgundy hood, black pants with a vertical white stripe down the side, and running shoes.

Security camera images have been released.

Joseph Carlton Bryan, 21, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:

1. Accessory after the fact (murder)

He will appear in court, at Toronto East Court, on Friday, February 15, 2019, in room 412.

Robbery and Fail to Remain investigation, Danforth Avenue and Glebemount Road area, Two men wanted

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with a Robbery and Fail to Remain investigation in the Danforth Avenue and Glebemount Road area.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a man was driving a vehicle when he became involved in a collision with another vehicle being driven by a 36-year-old man

- when the 36-year-old man began taking photos of the vehicles and the scene, the man and another unidentified male assaulted him

It is further alleged that:

- the same man, who was armed with a knife, then assaulted a bystander when he attempted to intervene during the assault

The 74-year-old bystander was transported to hospital.

Both suspects fled the scene in a black 2018 Land Rover, with Ontario licence plate CDMD 314. The suspect vehicle sustained significant damage to the front end.

One of the men has been identified as Mohamed Ashaqzai, 20, of Toronto. He is wanted on a Warrant in the First Instance for:

1. Robbery
2. Assault with a Weapon
3. Weapons Dangerous
4. Two counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance
5. Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
6. Two count of Fail to Comply Probation

Suspect #2 is described as male, black with a medium complexion, 5’7”, with a husky build, and short curly hair. He was wearing a black jacket.
