Media Advisory, Toronto Police Service taking part in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario, Saturday, February 9, 2019, 11:30 a.m., Sir Casimir Gzowski Park, 1751 Lakeshore Boulevard West

On Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 11:30 a.m., members of the Toronto Police Service will be participating in their 3rd Annual Polar Plunge with other police services, law enforcement partners, members of the public and athletes from the Special Olympics at Sir Casimir Gzowski Park, 1751 Lakeshore Boulevard West.

The Polar Plunge is a winter fundraising event where individuals have the "honour" of jumping into the icy waters of a nearby lake. The Toronto Police Service has been a proud supporter of this signature event held by the Law Enforcement Torch Run initiative benefiting Special Olympics Ontario.

Check-in for participants will be at 11 a.m., with opening ceremonies, including remarks from Chief Mark Saunders starting at 11:30 a.m. The plunge will be taking place at noon.

Sandra McDonald, 14, was last seen on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 2:05 p.m., in the Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue area.

She is described as 5’2”, 120 lbs., with straight, shoulder-length, brown hair with blonde tips, and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing navy pajama bottoms and a blue "Blue Jays" hooded top.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Homicide #6/2019, 366 Queen Street East, Jaunoi Christian, 24

On Friday, February 8, 2019, at 1:54 a.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting at 366 Queen Street East.

Officer arrived on scene to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

He has been identified as Jaunoi Christian, 24, of Brampton.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2019.

A man was seen running from the scene. He is described as black, 6'0", mid 30s, with a medium build. He was wearing a blue and white toque, dark-coloured jacket and blue jeans.

Investigators are interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the area or who may have taken video or pictures surrounding the time of this incident.

Theft of Motorcycle investigation, Charles Street and Church Street, Two men wanted

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance locating two men wanted in a motorcycle theft investigation.

On Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 3 p.m., officers responded to a call for a theft in the Charles Street and Church Street area.

It is reported that:

- a man had stored his motorcycle in an underground garage

- two men entered the garage driving a blue GMC Safari mini-van

- the motorcycle was place in the van

- the men fled the area

The mini-van was bearing stolen plates #JMI 652 from New Brunswick.

One suspect is described as 40-years-old, with a heavy build, a beard, and glasses. He was wearing grey sweatpants, a black hoodie, a black vest, a black baseball cap, and black boots.

Security camera images are released.

Anastasia Bourenok, 27, was last seen on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 8 p.m., in the Queen Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue area.

She is described as white, approximately 5’4”, with a medium build, long brown hair with blonde highlights, blue eyes and glasses. She was last seen wearing a hunter green winter coat with fur trim.

She may be driving a 2015 white Volkswagen Golf, with license plate BXCH 085.

There is no picture currently available.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Woman sought in Mischief - Endanger life investigation, Image of woman attached

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying a woman wanted in a Mischief - Endanger Life investigation.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, officers commenced an investigation into a mischief that occurred in the Harbour Street and York Street area.

It is reported that:

- incident allegedly occurred on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 10 a.m.

- a woman threw a chair off of a balcony

- other items were thrown off as well

- this was done from a very high floor in a building

- the items landed in front of the entrance to a condo building

The woman is described as 20s, 5'1" - 5'2", 110 lbs., slim build, long blond hair. She was wearing a black leather jacket, black clothing and black high heels.

Robbery/Kidnapping/Forcible Confinement investigation, Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East, Three males wanted

The Toronto Police is requesting the public’s assistance in a Robbery, Kidnapping and Forcible Confinement investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, February 8, 2019, at approximately 9:35 p.m., in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East area, a black 4-door sedan with three males inside approached a man

- the man believed it was a car share-ride that he ordered, so he got into the vehicle

- while inside the vehicle the three suspects demanded the man turn over his property

- they robbed the man of a ‘Grey Goose’ jacket, an iPhone 10, a wallet and $600-$800 in cash

- the male suspects then dropped off the man in a nearby area

All three suspects are described as male blacks. A photo of the suspect vehicle is being released.

ATM Robbery investigation, Victoria Park Avenue and Van Horne Avenue, Man wanted

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in a series of ATM robberies.

On Friday, February 1, 2019, at 7:21 p.m., officers responded to a call for a robbery in the Victoria Park Avenue and Van Horne Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- a girl was depositing money to an ATM

- she was approached from behind by a man

- he held a knife to her neck and made a demand for money

- the man removed the money from the machine and fled

He is described as 6'0", with a medium build, and a light complexion. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, a black hooded sweater with the hood up, a balaclava, black pants and black running shoes.

He is believed to be violent, armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Investigators believe he is responsible for four other similar robberies at ATMs all in the area bounded by Victoria Park Avenue, Markham Road, Ellesmere Road and Sheppard Avenue East.

Homicide #12/2017, Dylan Greenaway, 21, Update, Two men arrested, Hafis Mohideen-Hassan, 20, Mohammad Patel, 20

On Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 7:55 a.m., police responded to a medical complaint in the parking lot of Alvin Curling Public School, located at 50 Upper Rouge Trail.

Officers arrived and found a man with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced at the scene and later identified as Dylan Greenaway, 21, of Toronto.

After a two-year investigation, with the assistance of the Gun & Gang Task Force, police arrested two men on Monday, February 11, 2019.

Hafis Mohideen-Hassan, 20, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. First Degree Murder

Mohammad Patel, 20, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. First Degree Murder
2. Possession of a Restricted Firearm

It is alleged that a loaded, semi-automatic pistol was located during his arrest.

Both men appeared in court, at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
