On Saturday, September 22, 2018, the Toronto Police Service will be hosting an event at Humber College Lakeshore Campus called the Toronto Youth Amazing Race.

This event features challenges and partnerships from the TPS Marine Unit, Toronto Dominion Bank, Canadian Forces Toronto Scottish Regiment and Humber College. Challenges will be designed to test memory, problem-solving, teamwork and future planning.

The program is designed for youth between 14 and 18. Teams are made up of five youth and a police officer.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m., at 19 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive. The host of the event will be Lindsay Hamilton from TSN.

Toronto Police Service announces retirement of Director of Corporate Communications

Effective Thursday, September 27, 2018, Mark Pugash, Director of Corporate Communications will be retiring after 15 years of service with the Toronto Police Service.

Mark’s career in media relations and communications has extended over three decades, providing advice and support to three police services including the Metropolitan Police Service in London, England.

“I would like to thank Mark for his advice and support,” said Chief of Police Mark Saunders. “I wish him well in his retirement and, on behalf of the Toronto Police Service, offer our appreciation for his many years of service."

“Working for one of the largest municipal police services in North America has been a highlight of my career,” said Mark Pugash. “While I look forward to my retirement, I am proud of my service and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the professional and dedicated members of the Toronto Police."

Meaghan Gray has been named Acting Director of Corporate Communications until further notice.

Missing man, Humberwood Boulevard and Rexdale Boulevard area, Hussein Ahmadi-Tehrani, 81

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Hussein Ahmadi-Tehrani, 81, was last seen on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., in the Humberwood Boulevard at Rexdale Boulevard area.

He is described as 5'9", 160 lbs, with a medium build, brown eyes, and short, white hair. He was last seen wearing a brown suit jacket and brown pants.

Police are concerned for his safety.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing woman.

Hilda Walker, 84, was last seen on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 8 p.m., in the Bloor Street West and Bedford Road area.

She is described as 5’2", 110 lbs., with a thin build, brown eyes and grey hair. She was last seen wearing a blue blouse, black pants, a dark blue waist-length coat and carrying a black purse.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Missing woman located, Bloor Street West and Bedford Road area, Hilda Walker, 84

Arrest made in Controlled Drugs and Substances investigation, 2 men charged, Firearm seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a Controlled Drugs and Substances investigation.

Officers from the 11 Division Major Crime Unit started an investigation into the distribution of narcotics at an address in the Dundas Street West and Windermere Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, Jolani Raguette, 19, and Kieran Morrison, 22, both of Toronto, were arrested outside of the address

- at the time of the arrest, a loaded firearm was seized from a vehicle

Both men have been charged with:

1. Possession for the Purpose Marihuana
2. Possession of Marihuana
3. Fail to Comply Undertaking
4. Two counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance
5. Carry Firearm in a Careless Manner
6. Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
7. Possession Knowing Possession Unauthorized
8. Unauthorized Possession of a Motor Vehicle
9. Possession Restricted Firearm & Ammunition
10. Possession of Proceeds Under $5,000

They were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Old City Hall, at 10 a.m.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing man.

Donald Gareth, 32, was last seen on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 12 a.m., in the Keewatin Avenue and Mount Pleasant Road area.

He is described as, 6'2", 260 lbs., with a large build and short red hair.

Members of his family and close friends believe he may be heading towards Calgary. He is believed to be driving a dark grey, four-door, Toyota Yaris bearing Ontario licence plate ATTP 669.

Police are concerned for his safety.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing girl.

Sasha Celis, 17, was last seen on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 7 p.m., in the Yonge Street and Eglington Avenue West area.

She is described as 5’2”, 100 lbs., with brown eyes and straight blue hair. She was last seen wearing a black crop-top with the word “SAVAGE” written across the front, long black pants with a red stripe, and red high-heeled boots.

Police are concerned for her safety.

He is wanted on the strength of two warrants for:

1. Unlawfully in Dwelling House
2. Assault
3. Assault with a Weapon
4. Mischief Under $5000
5. Theft Under $5000
6. Four counts of Fail to Comply Undertaking
7. Fail to Comply Recognizance
8. Fail to Comply Probation Order

He is described as 5’9”, 180 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police warn that he is considered violent. If located, do not approach, call 9-1-1.

Fatal collision #47/2018, Keele Street at Aileen Avenue

On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 6:50 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision on Keele Street, at Aileen Avenue.

It is reported that:

- a man, 40, was driving a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Keele Street, approaching Aileen Avenue

- a man, 50, was driving a 2008 Hyundai, southbound on Keele Street, attempting to make a left turn to eastbound Aileen Avenue

- the vehicles collided in the intersection

The driver of the motorcycle received life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators are seeking dash camera or security camera footage from local residents, businesses, and drivers who may have been in the area at the time of the collision.

The annual 53 Division Open House will take place on Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 75 Eglinton Avenue West.

The event is going to showcase many of the Toronto Police Service special units, which include Marine, Mounted, the Emergency Task Force, Police Dog Services, Court Services, and more.

There will be a kids' area with games, face-painting, and a colouring contest.

Bring your friends and family out to enjoy a fun day with the Toronto Police.

There are going to be station tours, police displays, forensic displays. The public can enjoy a police BBQ while participating in the event.

Come out, meet your local police officers, and learn about the daily work of the Toronto Police Service.

"Paradise in the Park," Sunday, September 23, 2018

The “Paradise in the Park” music festival will take place at Woodbine Park on Sunday, September 23, 2018.

The event will take place from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and is expected to draw a crowd of 3,500.

Street closures will not be in effect for this event however, due to congestion, motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.

It is recommended that those attending use public transit.

Shawn Elliott, 26, was last seen on Friday, September 21, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue West area.

He is described as 5’7", with a heavy build and short, black hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue t-shirt and brown shorts. He was carrying a black knapsack.

Missing man located, Kingston Road and Galloway Road area, Kevin Wilson, 46

Three men arrested for series of gun-point taxi driver robberies

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of three men arrested in relation to a series of gun-point taxi driver robberies.

Between Sunday, August 26, 2018, and Saturday, September 15, 2018, officers responded to thirteen incidents involving taxi drivers from various taxi companies.

It is alleged that:

- the taxi drivers were called to various locations within Toronto, primarily in the northwest end of the city

- the callers would use different names and direct the taxi drivers to schools and different residential locations

- the passengers would then rob the taxi drivers at gun-point of property such as cash, debit/credit cards, identification, cellular phones and other items

Following a lengthy investigation, police were able to identify the men. They were arrested on Monday, September 17, 2018.

Kervin Bibito, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Thirteen counts of Robbery with a Firearm
2. Unauthorized Use of Credit Card

Jermaine Edwards, 21, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Thirteen counts of Robbery with a Firearm

Prince Owusu, 20, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Thirteen counts of Robbery with a Firearm
2. Unauthorized Use of Credit Card

All three men are scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in courtroom 306.


Police believe this group could be responsible for other robberies and is urging any other victims to come forward. Police would also like to speak with anyone who may have further information with respect to this investigation.
