Sexual Assault Alert, Man wanted in sexual assault of 8-year-old boy, Surveillance camera image released

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in the sexual assault of an 8-year-old boy.

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 10 a.m., officers responded to a call for a sexual assault in the Islington Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard area.

It is reported that:

- a woman was shopping in a department store with her 8-year-old son

- the boy was in the toy section

- he was followed around by an unknown man

- he was sexually assaulted

The man is described as 5'9", with a medium build and short black hair. He was clean shaven. He was wearing a bluish/grey button-up shirt, blue jeans, and a dark backpack.

A surveillance camera image of the man is being released.

Arrest made in Mischief Over investigation, Lindsey Flockhart, 24

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a mischief investigation.

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 6:32 a.m., officers responded to a call for Unknown Trouble in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Bathurst Street area.

It is alleged that:

- a woman climbed a crane

- she damaged the crane, rendering it inoperable

Lindsey Flockhart, 34, was arrested and charged with:

1. Mischief - Damage Property Exceeding $5000
2. Mischief - Obstruct Property Exceeding $5000
3. Fail to Comply with Probation Order

She is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, August 17, 2018, at 10 a.m., in room 101.

Chidinma Ekenkwo, 24, was last seen on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at approximately 9 a.m., at Oakridge Park near Danforth Avenue and Leyton Avenue.

7. Two counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance

He is described as 5’10”, 120 lbs., with long dark hair, possible beard/moustache and brown eyes.

He is described as 5’5”, 130 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes, and a pock-marked face.

Police warn that he is considered violent. If located, do not approach, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Wheels on The Danforth, Saturday, August 18, 2018, 11 a.m., to 11 p.m., Road closures

On Saturday, August 18, 2018, the Crossroads of the Danforth Business Improvement Area will be hosting the “Wheels on the Danforth” on Danforth Avenue.

As part of this event, Danforth Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic, starting at 6:30 a.m., from Byng Avenue to Warden Avenue. The major north/south streets, such as Byng Avenue and Warden Avenue, will remain open.

The event will run from 11 a.m., to 11 p.m.

Road closures will begin at 6 a.m., and continue to 11 p.m.:

1) Danforth Avenue, from Byng Avenue to Warden Avenue
2) Danforth Road, from Landry Avenue to Danforth Avenue

TTC will be re-routing buses during the event.

This event will take place regardless of weather conditions.

Members of the public should anticipate significant traffic in the area.

Missing man, Ossington Avenue and Queen Street West, Teedzani Thapelo, 20

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Teedzani Thapelo, 20, was last seen on Thursday, August 16, 2018, in the Ossington Avenue and Queen Street West area.

He is described as 6’, 165 lbs., with short, dark, curly hair. He was last seen wearing glasses, a black t-shirt with “Sex Pistols” printed in red, a black baseball hat with a white logo, and blue jeans.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Homicide #60/2018, Martin Grove Road and John Garland Boulevard, Update, Victim Identified, Andre Phoenix, 33

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 11:30 p.m., police responded to the sound of gunshots in the Martin Grove Road and John Garland Road area.

On Friday, August 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at 23 Divison, Homicide Detective Jeffery Tavares, and Supertindent Ron Taverner updated the media on the investigation into Homicide #60/2018.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a man was in the plaza located at 1701 Martin Grove Road.

It is reported:

- the man was walking within the lot of the plaza

- a light-colored four-door sedan approached the man

- an occupant from the vehicle fired multiple gunshots at the man

- the man was struck was by the gunfire and collapsed in the parking lot

- the light-coloured four-door sedan fled the scene, and was last seen travelling westbound on John Garland Boulevard

- police arrived on scene and immediately commenced lifesaving first-aid

- the man was taken to hospital via emergency run, where the man succumbed to his injures and was pronounced

The man has been identified as Andre Phoenix, 33, of Toronto.

Personal injury collision #35/2018, Leslie Street, north of Eglinton Avenue East

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 3:55 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Leslie Street, north of Eglinton Avenue East.

It is reported that:

- a man, 87, was driving a Pontiac Montana, and was exiting Sunnybrook Park, attempting to turn left to northbound Leslie Street

- a man, 25, was driving a Isuzu truck, southbound on Leslie Street, approaching the entrance to Sunnybrook Park

- the vehicles collided

The 87-year-old man received life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Assistance Sought In Sexual Assault Investigation, Bakersfield Street and Sheppard Avenue West

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance with a sexual assault investigation which occurred in the area of Bakersfield Street and Sheppard Avenue West.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, August 6, 2018, between the hours of midnight and 1 a.m., a 20 year-old woman was leaving Downsview Park after attending a music event

- a man, who had also attended the event, offered to drive the woman to meet her friends

- the man drove the woman to a deserted area

- the man then sexually assaulted the woman


He is described as white, 28-35 years, 5'10" to 6'0", slim athletic build, short brown hair, large nose. He was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt with a darker design on the front.

The man was driving a dark-coloured Kia Sportage SUV or similar vehicle. A security image of the video has been released. To view video click here.

Arrest made in an Internet Child Pornography Investigation, Michael MacInnis, 31

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest in a child luring investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a man communicated through social media with a girl

- the man engaged in multiple sexually-explicit chats with the girl for the purpose of having her send naked pictures of herself to him

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, members of the Sex Crimes - Child Exploitation Section, arrested Michael MacInnis, 31, of Toronto. He is charged with:

1. Possess child pornography
2. Access child pornography
3. Make child pornography
4. Luring a child (Under 16)
5. Invitation to sexual touching

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, August 17, 2018.

Road closures commence on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 12 a.m., to Sunday, August 19, 2018, at 10 p.m.

Bathurst Street will close between Wilson Avenue and Laurelcrest Avenue.

Kenzie Elbahoudy, 12, was last seen on Friday, August 17, 2018, at 2 p.m., in the York Mills Road and Fenside Drive area.

She is described as 5'4", 99 lbs., with a medium build, blue eyes, and purple hair. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a white "Michael Jordan" logo.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Open Streets Toronto, Sunday, August 19, 2018, Road Closures

On Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., the City of Toronto will host Open Streets Toronto.

The following road closures will take place between 8:30 a.m., and 3 p.m:

-Bloor Street, between Montrose Avenue and Sherbourne Avenue,

-Yonge Street, between Davenport Avenue and Queen Street,

Vehicles will only be able to cross the route at the following designated crossing points:

- Bloor Street West at Christie Street/Grace Street
- Bloor Street West at Bathurst Street
- Bloor Street West at Spadina Avenue
- Bloor Street West at Avenue Road
- Bloor Street West at Bay Street
- Bloor Street East at Church Street
- Bloor Street East at Ted Rogers Way
- Bloor Street East at Sherbourne Street
- Yonge Street at Wellesley Street
- Yonge Street at College Street
- Yonge Street at Gerrard Street
- Yonge Street at Dundas Street
- Yonge Street at Shuter Street
- Yonge Street at Queen Street

Motorists can expect significant delays in the area and are advised to plan alternate routes, where possible. It is strongly recommended that people attending Open Streets take the TTC.

On Saturday, August 18, 2018, Donald Joseph Macleod, 29, of Toronto, was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1. Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Old City Hall, courtroom 111, at 10 a.m.
