Public Safety Alert, Man wanted in an Unlawfully in a Dwelling Investigation, Bathurst Street and Fort York Boulevard Avenue area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an Unlawfully in a Dwelling investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at approximately 2:50 a.m., a man entered the residence of a 30-year-old woman in the area of Bathurst Street and Fort York Boulevard

- once the woman became aware of the man's presence in her home, she confronted him

- at this point he fled.

He is described as 25-30, Asian, with a light brown complexion, slim build, and short dark hair.

The Toronto Police Service want to remind the public to lock their doors and secure their homes at all times.

Homicide #61/2018, Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road

On Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 6:37 p.m., police responded to an Unknown Trouble in the Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road area.

Responding officers located two women suffering from obvious trauma as a result of stab wounds. The first victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her condition was later upgraded to stable.

The second woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Elena Marcucci, 84, of Toronto.

Michael Colastosti, 31, of Toronto was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1. First Degree Murder
2. Attempt Murder

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Old City Hall, at 10 a.m.

Robbery with a Firearm investigation, Albion Road and Elmhurst Drive area, One man and one woman arrested, Assistance sought locating third wanted person, Steven Gregory, 34

The Toronto Police is seeking the public's assistance locating a man wanted in an investigation into a violent Robbery and Shooting.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at approximately 7:22 a.m., a man was standing in front of his home in the Albion Road and Elmhurst Drive area

- two unknown men approached the home and engaged the man in conversation

- one of the men pointed a handgun at the man and made demands for his belongings

- the man complied with the demand, as both men threatened to shoot him if he chose not to

- once they obtained the man's possessions, both suspects fled and the man began to chase them

- one of the suspects turned, pointed the handgun, and fired multiple shots at the man, striking the victim

- the suspects ran into a waiting vehicle, driven by a third party

- the vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Arcot Boulevard toward Tandridge Crescent.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non−life−threatening injuries.

The West Command Gun Violence Suppression Unit started an investigation.

As a result, on Friday, February 16, 2018, Dale Bailey, 47, and Jasmine Langemann, 26, both of Toronto, were identified and arrested.

Jasmine Langemann, 26, has been charged with:

1. Robbery with a firearm
2. Possess loaded regulated firearm
3. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
4. Careless use of a firearm
5. Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
6. Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered with
7. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

Dale Bailey, 47, has been charged with:

1. Attempt Murder
2. Robbery with a firearm
3. Possess loaded regulated firearm
4. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
5. Careless use of a firearm
6. Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
7. Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered with
8. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

Both appeared in court at 1000 Finch Ave West on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

A third suspect, Steven Gregory, 34, of Toronto, is currently outstanding and is wanted on a warrant for:

1. Robbery with a firearm
2. Possess loaded regulated firearm
3. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
4. Careless use of a firearm
5. Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
6. Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered with
7. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

His photograph is attached.

Steven Gregory is considered armed and dangerous. If seen do not approach, call 9-1-1.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing boy.

Hanza Azeez, 12, was last seen on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 1 p.m., in the area of Jane Street and Finch Avenue West.

He is described as 5’3”, 120 lbs., with a medium build and black curly hair. He was last seen wearing light blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

A photo has been posted on @TPSOperations.

Police are concerned for his safety.

He is described as 5'9", large build, and grey beard. He was last seen wearing a red sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, black shoes, and blue checkered dress shirt.

He is described as 5’5”, thin build, brown eyes, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, beige shorts, and a navy blue baseball cap.

Glenn Rilley, 64 was last seen on Sunday, August 12, 2018, in the Markham Road and Progress Avenue area.

He is described as white, 5'6”, thin build, with short grey hair, and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and dark blue jeans.

Homicide #62/2018 235 Sherway Gardens Road, Jack Meldrum, 15

On Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 9:43 p.m., Police responded to a call for a stabbing in the area of 235 Sherway Gardens Road.

Responding officers located one man and two boys suffering from trauma. All were transported to hospital for medical treatment.

One of the boys was suffering from a life-threatening stab wound and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

He has been identified as Jack Meldrum, 15, of Mississauga.

His photograph has been released.


On Monday, August 20, 2018, a 15-year-old boy was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1. Second Degree Murder

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 9 a.m., room 204.

The name of the Young Offender cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen Jack Meldrum or have information about his whereabouts on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

The Toronto Police Service and LiUNA Canada are partnering to bring opportunities in the skilled trades to Regent Park residents.

On Tuesday, August 21, and Wednesday, August 22, 2018, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., LiUNA Canada Local 183 will be stationed behind the Regent Park Aquatic Centre, at 640 Dundas Street East.

Members of the community are encouraged to come by and learn about the opportunities offered by LiUNA Canada, including free training and apprenticeships in skilled trades such as Construction Craft Worker, Cement Finisher and Brick & Stone Mason.

Chief Mark Saunders will be joined by Jack Oliveria, Business Manager of LiUNA Local 183 and Business Manager of the LiUNA Ontario Provincial District Council, and Joseph S. Mancinelli, International Vice President and Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Canada, and members of 51 Division to launch this two-day recruitment initiative at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

Public Safety Alert, Distraction Thefts/Robberies targeting seniors in 31 Division

The Toronto Police Service is warning the public to be vigilant following a series of Distraction Thefts targeting seniors. Some of the Distraction Thefts have escalated into Robberies.

It has been reported that:

- these have occurred within the boundaries of 31 Division: Steeles Avenue to the north, Finch Avenue to the south, Highway 400 to the west and Sentinel Road to the east

- an unknown driver and two women, in a car, have been approaching seniors on the street in residential neighbourhoods

- the two women will then place jewellery on the victim, removing the victim’s existing jewellery in the process or one woman will embrace the victim, removing their jewellery in the process

- the victim usually realizes, after the fact, that their jewellery has been stolen

- if the victim realizes their jewellery is being removed, the suspects will resort to violence, pushing the victims to the ground

- there is no consistent suspect description other than two women and a driver of a silver/grey vehicle

Similar Distraction Thefts have been taking place across the Toronto area.

The public is reminded to be vigilant for these suspects in their neighbourhoods and to report any suspicious behaviour to police.
