Police request assistance with Break-and-Enter investigation, Security camera image of Person of Interest released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Break-and-Enter investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 9:34 a.m., the suspect broke into a commercial building in the Gerrard Street East/Coxwell Avenue area

- nothing was taken and the suspect left the scene

The suspect is described as white. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and pants, grey shoes with white soles and carrying a black knapsack with a white Under Armour logo on the back.

Police have released a security camera image of a man classified as a Person of Interest.

Homicide #12/2013, Joycelyn Dickson, 72

On Wednesday, March 14, 2013, at approximately 11:15 p.m., police were called to the Wexford Residence Long Term Care (LTC) facility, 1860 Lawrence Avenue East, for an assault in progress.

It is alleged that:

- the body of a woman, 72, was found with obvious signs of injuries

- she was pronounced at the scene

- a 91-year-old woman was found with obvious signs of injuries

- both women were residents of the LTC

Peter Roy Brooks, 72, also of the LTC, was arrested.

He is charged with:

1) Second-Degree murder

2) Aggravated assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 2 p.m.

The deceased has been identified as Joycelyn Dickson, 72.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled.

On Friday, March 15, 2013, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., 41 Division officers, in conjunction with the 41 Division Community Police Liaison Committee and Toronto Parks, Forestry & Recreation and Proaction Cops & Kids, will be hosting their 7th Annual Family Skate Day, at Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre, at 2467 Eglinton Avenue East.

Come out for an enjoyable afternoon of skating with your local police officers. The skating is free and we will be providing skates to children who do not have any. Please bring a helmet, if possible. Children under six years of age are required to have a CSA-approved helmet.

This event is not possible without the assistance of the public who generously donated over 100 pairs of skates.

There will be clowns and light refreshments will be served.

We invite members of our community to attend and meet the officers who work in their division.

Man and woman face 16 charges in break-and-enter investigation, $55,000 of stolen property recovered

On Monday, March 4, 2013, police responded to a call for a break-and-enter in the Clinton Street/Bloor Street West area.

It is alleged that:

- the accused broke into a home and stole jewelry and other property valued at $65,000

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, officers executed a search warrant in the Robina Avenue/Earlsdale Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- police recovered $55,000 worth of stolen property from the home

- police also seized a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, GHB and Oxycodone

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, Jason Brace, 35, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) four counts of Break-and-Enter
2) four counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
3) Fail to Comply with Probation
4) Possession of Proceeds of Crime
5) Possession of Cocaine
6) Possession of a Controlled Substance
7) Possession of Marijuana

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, Jane Brandt, 30, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
2) Possession of a Controlled substance
3) Possession of Marijuana

26th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Sunday, March 17, 2013, Road closures

On Sunday, March 17, 2013, at noon, the 26th annual Toronto St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place. The procession will start at Bloor Street West/St. George Street and continue along Bloor Street West, south on Yonge Street, west on Queen Street West to Nathan Phillips Square.

A full road closure will take place on Bloor Street West, Yonge Street and Queen Street West. A number of secondary roads will also be closed or partially closed, affecting traffic flow in the area.

Road closures from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:

St. George Street (full road) Bloor St W to College St
Devonshire Place (full road) Bloor St W to Hoskin Ave

Road closures from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:

Hoskin Avenue (full road) St George St to Queen’s Pk Cres
Harbord Street (full road) St George St to Huron St

Road closures from 11:55 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

Bloor Street (full road) Huron St to Yonge St
Yonge Street (full road) Bloor St to Queen St
Queen St. W (full road) Yonge St to University Ave

Road closures from noon to 3 p.m.:

Bay Street (full road) Queen St W to Dundas St W
Elisabeth Street (full road) Dundas St W to Hagerman St
Hagerman Street (full road) Elizabeth St to Bay St

Road closures from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.:

University Ave. (partial road) Queen St W to Dundas St W
Armoury Street (full road) University Ave to Chestnut St
Centre Avenue (full road) Dundas St W to Armoury St

The TTC will be re-routing buses during the event.

This event will take place regardless of weather conditions. Members of the public should anticipate significant traffic issues, in the area.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Bruno Pahor, 82, was last seen on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bloor Street West/Islington Avenue area.

He is described as white, 5’9”, 160 lbs., brown eyes with short grey/brown receding hair. He was last seen wearing a blue winter jacket, black pants, white running shoes and a winter cap.

Police are concerned for his safety.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing girl.

Melissa McGibbon ,12, was last seen on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the St. Clarens Avenue/College Street area.

She is described as white, 5’5”, 150 lbs., hazel eyes with blond hair. She was last seen wearing a sweater, white high-top runners and possibly wearing red sweatpants.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Man faces eight charges in sexual assault investigation, Artelino Vallada, 36, Photograph of man released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between November 2010 and January 2013, a Pastor at Jesus Christ the Open Door Church, sexually assaulted four women and girls, between the ages of 14 and 21.

On Thursday, March 14, 2013, Artelino Vallada, 36, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Four counts of Sexual Assault
2) Two counts of Sexual Interference
3) Two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Friday, March 15, 2013, room 412, at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Man faces three charges in child-pornography investigation, Update, Man faces additional Sex Tourism charges

On Tuesday, July 24, 2012, police arrested a man in connection with a child-pornography investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between Friday, May 18, 2011 and Wednesday, July 11, 2012, the accused possessed child pornography at his home in Toronto

Further to the ongoing investigation, the Toronto Police Service sought the approval of the Attorney General to lay further charges. Permission was granted to lay charges in connection with offences allegedly committed while the accused was in Cuba.

On Friday, March 8, 2013, James McTurk, 78, of Toronto, was further charged with:

1) Make child pornography,
2) six counts of Sexual interference,
3) Invitation to sexual touching,
4) Indecent act

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 10 a.m.

It is alleged that these charges relate to offences between June 2011 and July 2012.

This is the first time that the Toronto Police Service has laid Sex Tourism charges.

St. Patrick’s Day 5km run/walk, Sunday, March 17, 2013, Road closures

On Sunday, March 17, 2013, the “St. Patrick’s Day 5K run/walk” will take place.

This event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.

Participants will assemble on Bremner Boulevard, east of Rees Street, at approximately 9 a.m. At 10:15 a.m., the 5km run/walk will proceed along the following route:

Road closures:

Formation area: Bremner Boulevard (Rees Street to Lower Simcoe Street)

- westbound on Bremner Boulevard
- northbound on Spadina Avenue (northbound curb lane only)
- eastbound on Clarence Square
- eastbound on Wellington Street (two southside lanes)
- turnaround Just west of Yonge Street
- westbound on Wellington Street (two southside lanes)
- westbound on Clarence Square
- southbound on Spadina Avenue (northbound curb lane only)
- eastbound on Bremner Boulevard

Dispersal area: Bremner Boulevard (Rees Street to Lower Simcoe Street)

Vehicles in the area may experience traffic delays.

The Muslim Consultative Committee will be hosting a Youth Tri-Sport Competition on Sunday, March 17, 2013, between noon and 5 p.m., at Harbourfront Community Centre, 627 Queen's Quay West.

This tri-sport competitions will consist of basketball, soccer and dodgeball for youth from 12-24. This provides a unique opportunity for members of the Toronto Police Service, working alongside the Consultative Committees, to join together with members of the community.

The Uniform Co-Chair of the Muslim Consultative Committee, Superintendent Mario Di Tommaso, will be in attendance.

Public Safety Alert, Illegal Buttock Enhancement Procedures

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware that illegal buttock enhancement procedures are continuing to occur in the Greater Toronto Area.

It is reported that:

− women are continuing to have a substance that is advertised as PMMA (polymethylmetacrylate) injected to enhance the appearance of their buttocks

- arrangements are usually made via e-mail or a referral

- the injector attends the client’s home or a hotel room

- the services are provided for cash, usually costing thousands of dollars

- some of these women have developed serious medical complications requiring hospitalization

This type of procedure performed outside a medical facility is very dangerous and could result in long-lasting complications and, in some cases, even death.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in a theft investigation.

It is reported that:

- On Sunday, March 3, 2013, at approximately 4:40 p.m., a man entered a convenience store in the King Street West/Spencer Avenue area

- as the employee left the store briefly, the man stole a quantity of lottery tickets

The man is described as white, 35-45, 5’6” – 5’8”, average build. He was wearing a black toque, light blue jeans and a black hooded sweater with white writing on the left chest area and on the back.

She is described as white, 5’9", 125 lbs., blue eyes, with long straight brown hair. She was last seen wearing a grey coat, blue jeans and black boots.
