Four men arrested, face 22 charges in violent home invasion robbery, Dawes Road near Victoria Park Avenue

Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of four arrests in a violent home invasion robbery.

On Saturday, December 23, 2017, four men attended an apartment on Dawes Road near Victoria Park Avenue.

It is alleged that:

- when a man answered the door, the four men forced their way into the apartment

- one man was armed with a rifle and two men were armed with knives

- a 28-year-old woman, in the apartment, managed to lock herself in the bathroom

- the men with the knives took physical control of the 24- and 29-year-old men in the room

- one of the men armed with the rifle discharged a round through the bathroom door

- the woman, standing on the other side, was grazed on her ear by the bullet

- the four men then fled the apartment

- police arrived and arrested three men fleeing the area and recovered the firearm

On Saturday, December 23, 2017, three men were arrested.

Jules Rouillard, 48, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery with Firearm
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Discharge Firearm
4) Unauthorized possession of a firearm


Daniel Lavigne, 47, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery with Firearm
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Discharge Firearm
4) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
5) Fail to comply probation


Shawn Dusome, 23, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery with Firearm
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Discharge Firearm
4) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
5) Fail to Comply Probation and Recognizance

They were all scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, 9 a.m., room 505.

On Sunday, February 18, 2018, the last outstanding man was arrested. Jesse Lavigne, 25, of Ajax, was charged with:

1) Robbery with a firearm
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Discharge firearm with intent to Injure
4) Unauthorized Possession Firearm
5) Possession Firearm contrary to prohibition order
6) Fail To Comply Probation
7) Possession Cocaine
8) Possession For The Purpose Cocaine

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 19, 2018, 9 a.m., room 101.

Three men arrested in Project Wildflower, Ongoing Fraud investigation

In summer 2017, members of Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes became involved in an ongoing Fraud investigation into a social media account.

It is alleged that:

- a social media account was set up, advertising a way to make quick money with pictures and videos of cash and bank cards

- people were directed to provide their bank account with their PIN details

- they were directed that they needed an empty bank account to deposit the money into and, in exchange, they would receive $1,500

- cheques were deposited into various financial institution accounts and funds withdrawn from those accounts

Police executed search warrants on vehicles and home addresses in the Peel and Toronto area.

It is further alleged that:

- fraudulent cheques, banking documents, bank cards, electronic equipment and clothing were seized

On Wednesday, February 7, 2018, Orville Langley, 48, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to commit Indictable offence of Fraud over $5000
2) Fraud over $5000
3) Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, March 1, 2018, 2 p.m., room 202.


On Wednesday, February 7, 2018, Nia Bartolome, 30, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with:

1) Fraud over $5000
2) Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000
3) False Pretence
4) Uttering a Forged document

She is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, March 22, 2018, 2 p.m., room 202.


On Wednesday, February 13, 2018, Kevin McIntosh, 36, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to commit Indictable offence of Fraud over $5000
2) Fraud over $5000
3) Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000
4) False Pretence
5) Uttering a Forged document

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, March 23, 2018, 9 a.m., room 301.

Missing girl, Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area, Justice Latoya Reid, 14

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing girl.

Justice Latoya Reid, 14, was last seen during the morning hours on Tuesday, February 20, 2017, in the Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area.

She is described as 5’8”, long black hair, hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a black parka with fur around the hood, skinny jeans, black/red Air Jordan shoes, carrying a purple Nike duffel bag.

Police are concerned for her safety.

On Thursday, February 15, 2018, after 1 a.m., police responded to a radio call for a shooting at 271 Old Kingston Road.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Aruran Suthakaran, 21, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Second-Degree Murder

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Thursday, February 22, 2018, 10 a.m., room 412.

On Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Sex Crimes Human Trafficking Enforcement Team Detective Sergeant Nunzio Tramontozzi will update the public on a Human Trafficking and shooting investigation. Two 18-year-old men were arrested.

Robert Humphrey, 51, faces five charges in ongoing Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Uttering Threats investigation, Man's photographs released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an ongoing Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation and Uttering Threats investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Sunday, February 18, 2018, a man, 35, reported he had been sexually assaulted numerous times from 1993 to 2001, between the ages of 11 and 19

On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 5 p.m., Robert Humphrey, 51, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) two counts of Sexual Assault
2) Sexual Exploitation
3) two counts of Uttering Threats

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, February 22, 2018, 10 a.m., room 306.

Robert Humphrey had access to children through coaching baseball and working in hockey rinks in Toronto.

Fatal collision #11/2018, Bathurst Street at Carscadden Drive

On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 4:45 p.m., police received a call for a personal injury collision at Bathurst Street at Carscadden Drive.

It is reported that:

- a woman, 67, was attempting to cross Bathurst Street at Carscadden Drive

- a man, 22, was driving a 2013 Freightliner truck eastbound on Carscadden Drive, attempting to make a left turn to northbound Bathurst Street

- the vehicle struck the woman as she attempted to cross the road

The woman received fatal injuries and was pronounced at hospital.

Public Safety Alert, Pickpocket/credit card scam in and around downtown core

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of pickpocket and credit card scams in and around the downtown core.

The Toronto Police Service has received multiple reports from people who have been victims of stolen wallets.

It is reported that:

- suspects target patrons who are dining at restaurants and food courts in the downtown area, specifically lunchtime crowds

- the items, primarily wallets, are taken from unattended purses and coats which are left hanging on the back of chairs

- the victims' debit cards and credit cards were subsequently used for unauthorized transactions worth thousands of dollars

- in each incident, suspects wore baseball caps and glasses to avoid security cameras

- immediately after the items are stolen, the suspects attended retail locations in the vicinity and purchased goods with the stolen cards

- the suspects also used stolen identification to subsequently commit identity fraud

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind members of the public to have a secure PIN, and to be aware of your coats, purses, wallets and other property when dining in public spaces.

Public Safety Alert, Fraudulent online ticket scams

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of fraudulent online ticket scams.

It is reported that:

- officers have received numerous complaints from people who have replied to online ads posted on buy/sell websites for the sale of event tickets

- the victims engaged in text-message conversations with the suspects to negotiate ticket sale prices

- money would then be sent via electronic money transfers to unknown suspects

- in all reported cases, the suspects received the e-transfers and sent nothing in return, refusing to refund the money, and subsequently ceased communication with the victims

The Toronto Police Service reminds the public:

- once an electronic transfer has been received and confirmed, financial institutions cannot stop or reverse the funds

- financial institutions and buy/sell websites are not liable and will not reimburse parties complaining of this scam

- event tickets are available for purchase through verified box offices at event venues, and on accredited ticket sales websites with clearly stated refund policies

Arrests in Human Trafficking and shooting investigation, Two men face total of 56 charges, Photographs of two men released

Members of the Toronto Police Service Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into an alleged Human Trafficking occurrence.

It is alleged that:

- between Monday, January 8, 2018 and Saturday, February 10, 2018, two men forced a woman, 19, into the sex trade

- during this time, the men took photographs of her in various degrees of undress, created ads for sexual services, and posted them on backpages.com

- she was taken to various jurisdictions including Toronto, Peel, Durham and York Region, where she stayed in various Airbnb rentals and was forced to provide sexual services to clients

- the men took her identification and she was forced to turn over all the money she earned to them

It is further alleged that:

- on Monday, February 5, 2018, the men were with her at the Idlewood Inn, 4212 Kingston Road in Toronto

- they got into a verbal argument and she told them that she no longer wanted to be an escort

- one of the men provided the other man with a .45 calibre semi-automatic handgun

- he pointed the firearm at her face and she attempted to push the firearm away, fearing she would be shot

- the man became angry and fired a shot, striking her in the buttocks area

- after the shooting, the men took her from the hotel room and drove her to an unknown address in the Toronto area

It is further alleged that:

- between Monday, February 5, 2018, and Saturday, February 10, 2018, the men transported her to several addresses in the GTA, and refused to seek medical attention for her gunshot wound

- she was able to escape and attended a local hospital

Members of the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into the occurrence.

On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, members of the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team located Tyrel McLean, 18, in Hamilton and arrested him.

It is alleged that:

- during the search, a loaded .45 calibre semi-automatic handgun was found on his person

- a large quantity of money and ammunition was seized

Tyrel McLean, 18, of Hamilton, was charged with:

1) Trafficking in Persons
2) Financial Material Benefit from Trafficking
3) Withhold / Destroy Identification
4) Procuring / Recruit Person to provide Sexual Services
5) two counts of Material Benefit
6) Advertise Sexual Services
7) two counts of Point Firearm
8) Possess Weapon for committing an Offence
9) Use Firearm in the commission of an Offence
10) Discharge Firearm with intent to Wound or Endanger Life
11) Careless Use of a Firearm
12) Aggravated Assault
13) two counts of Forcible Confinement
14) two counts of Possess loaded regulated Firearm
15) two counts of Possess Firearm without Registration Certificate
16) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
17) two counts of Careless use of a Firearm
18) Threatening Death
19) two counts of Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
20) Possess Prohibited / Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority
21) Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000.00


On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, members of the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team and the Emergency Task Force executed a Criminal Code search warrant in Brampton.

It is alleged that:

- during the subsequent search of a vehicle, a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was located

- a large quantity of money and ammunition was seized

Dante Thaxter, 18, of Peel Region, was charged with:

1) Trafficking in Persons
2) Financial Material Benefit from Trafficking
3) Withhold / Destroy Identification
4) Procuring/Recruit Person to provide Sexual Services
5) two counts of Material Benefit
6) Advertise Sexual Services
7) two counts of Point Firearm
8) Possess Weapon for committing an Offence
9) Use Firearm in the commission of an Offence
10) Discharge Firearm with intent to Wound or Endanger Life
11) Careless Use of a Firearm
12) Aggravated Assault
13) two counts of Forcible Confinement
14) two counts of Possess loaded regulated Firearm
15) two counts of Possess Firearm without Registration Certificate
16) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
17) two counts of Careless use of a Firearm
18) Threatening Death
19) two counts of Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
20) Possess Prohibited / Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority
21) Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000.00

Both men appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in room 412.

These arrests were successful with the assistance of the Toronto Police Service 43 Division Major Crime and Emergency Task Force, Peel Regional Police Vice Unit, and Hamilton Police Service Tactical Unit.

On Thursday, February 22, 2018, Detective Sergeant Nunzio Tramontozzi held a news conference which can be watched on YouTube.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

Photographs of both men have been released.

Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report Human Trafficking occurrences to police. We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.

Public Safety Alert, Kennedy Road and Lawrence Avenue East area, Stolen medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of stolen medication.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, a container of Percocet was stolen from a residence in the Kennedy Road and Lawrence Avenue East area.

The container consisted of 200 Percocet pills.

The pills could be fatal if ingested, especially to children.

Fatal collision #12/2018 William Kitchen Road, east of Kennedy Road

On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 6:38 p.m., police received a call for a personal injury collision at William Kitchen Road, east of Kennedy Road.

It is reported that:

- a man, 40, was attempting to cross William Kitchen Road, east of Kennedy Road

- a man, 33, was driving a 2012 Freightliner truck eastbound on William Kitchen Road, east of Kennedy Road

- the man was struck by the vehicle as he attempted to cross the road

The man received life-threatening injuries and was pronounced at hospital.

Police seek assistance locating man wanted in Threat investigation, Update, Edgar Martinez, 30, arrested and charged

On Monday, February 19, 2018, the Toronto Police Service requested assistance identifying a man wanted in an investigation into a Threat.

It was alleged that:

- on Sunday, February 18, 2018, between 10 p.m., and 11 p.m., a man was a passenger on a commuter train travelling into Toronto

- at that time, the man uttered a threat to a train staff member, which caused the staff member to be concerned for his safety and that of the public

- the staff member notified police

On Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., Edgar Martinez, 30, of Toronto, was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1) Uttering Threats

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, February 23, 2016, 10 a.m.

Guerman Pouchkine, 34, was last seen on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11:30 p.m., in the Steeles Avenue West and Keele Street area.

He is described as 6'4", 175 lbs., slim build, short brown hair, brown eyes, missing two front teeth. There is no clothing description.

There are two vehicles associated to the missing man:

- 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, brown, with Manitoba licence plate HTY230 or Ontario licence plate CBPJ975

- 2006 Dodge Caravan, black, with Manitoba licence plate HTT149

Police are concerned for his safety.
