Missing woman, Alloura Wells, 27, Update

On November 6, 2017, Alloura Wells, 27, was reported missing. It is believed Alloura was last seen in July 2017, in the downtown area. A news release seeking the public’s assistance was issued on November 8, 2017.

On August 5, 2017, police responded to a call for a body found in the area of Rosedale Valley Road. This person was not easily identified and police sought the assistance of the Centre of Forensic Sciences.

Because of the possible link between Alloura Wells and this investigation, police submitted further information to the Centre of Forensic Sciences, with the assistance of a family member.

On November 30, 2017, the Centre of Forensic Sciences confirmed that the body found on August 5, 2017 has been identified as Alloura Wells.

The case has now been transferred to 53 Division and the investigation into the cause of death continues.

Police request assistance with Fraud investigation, Security camera images of wanted man released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking assistance identifying a man wanted in a Fraud investigation.

It is reported that:

- a woman, 78, received a phone call from an unknown person who was claiming that the woman's adult son was overworked and in danger

- the woman was then instructed to gather all of her jewelry, then attend her bank and withdraw as much money as she could

- the caller advised that they would remain on hold on the phone while the woman carried out her tasks

- concerned for her son's safety, the woman did as she was instructed

- she returned home and the unknown person was still on hold on the other end of the phone

- the woman was then instructed to attend the lobby area of her building, where she would meet a man who would receive the money and jewellry, which would then enable him to assist the woman's son

- again following instructions, she met with the unknown man and gave the money and jewellery to him

- the man took the property, thanked the woman, then left

- later in the day, after making contact with her son, the woman realized that the claims of the unknown person were not true

- the incident was reported to police

The man is described as approximately 35, 5’7”, short black hair, beard. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans.

Security camera images of the man have been released.

Members of the public should remain vigilant when receiving any phone calls where a person is pressing them for money, whether to help a relative or otherwise.

Public Safety Alert, Guelph Police Service Sexual Assault investigation, Sherman Lai, 58

The Guelph Police Service has asked us to post the following news release:

On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, the Guelph Police Service commenced an investigation into sexual assault allegations against a 58-year-old Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner/Acupuncturist whose practice "Centre of Integrative Natural Medicine" had been located on Surrey Street for over 20 years.

This centre moved locations approximately six years ago and is currently located in Morriston, Ontario. On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, Sherman Lai, 58, was arrested and charged by the Guelph Police Service with one count of sexual assault against a former patient.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, as a result of further investigation, Sherman Lai was charged with two counts of sexual assault involving two additional victims who were both former patients.

Although Sherman Lai has practiced locally in the area, Guelph Police have learned that patients within the Greater Toronto Area and beyond have been referred to him.

Police are informing the public that there is no statute of limitations on crimes of this nature and any persons with information can contact D/Sgt. The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance locating a missing woman.

Christine Shaheen, 35, was last seen on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 4 p.m., in the University Avenue and Gerrard Street West area.

She is described as 5’4”, 140 lbs., with shoulder-length reddish-brown hair and a pale complexion with freckles. She usually wears glasses. It is unknown at this time what clothing she was last wearing.

Police are concerned for her safety.

The Toronto Police Service would like the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Ernesto Acuna, 77, was last seen Thursday, November 30, 2017, at noon, in the Martin Grove Road and Bloor Street West area.

He is described as 5’0”, 142 lbs., with short grey hair with darker streaks, brown eyes and freckles on his face. He was last seen wearing a green waist-length bomber-style jacket with no hood, a black toque and gloves. He walks with a slight hunch.

Police are concerned for his safety.

4) Uttering Threats

He is described as 5'6", 140 lb., black hair, brown eyes.

North Etobicoke Santa Claus parade, Sunday, December 3, 2017, Road closures

On Sunday, December 3, 2017, the first North Etobicoke Santa Claus Parade will take place.

From 11 p.m. until 1 p.m., staging of the parade will take place on Thistle Down Boulevard, between Barkwin Drive and Albion Road.

The parade will start at 1 p.m. and proceed southbound on Thistle Down Road, to westbound on Albion Road, to the dispersal area at the parking lot at Albion Centre Mall, east of Finch Avenue.

The parade is expected to conclude at 3 p.m.

Road closures during the event:
- Thistle Down Boulevard, from Barkwin Drive to Albion Road
- Albion Road, from Thistle Down Boulevard to Finch Avenue

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.

TTC service will be adjusted. Visit www.ttc.ca for more information.

The event will take place regardless of weather conditions.

Man charged in Child Sexual Abuse Material investigation

On Thursday, November 30, 2017, members of the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation Section executed a Criminal Code search warrant in the Windermere Avenue and The Queensway area .

As a result of the evidence gathered by police, Peter Thompson, 47, of Toronto, was arrested. He is now charged with:

1. Two counts of Possession of Child Pornography
2. Two counts of Access Child Pornography
3. Make Available Child Pornography

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 2 p.m., in room 101.

Theft Over $5,000 investigation, Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East area, Man and Woman Wanted

The Toronto Police Service would like the public’s assistance locating a man and woman wanted in a Theft Over $5,000 investigation.

On Sunday, November 26, 2017, officers responded to a call for a theft at a drug store in the Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East area.

It is reported that:

- a man and woman entered the store

- the man distracted the clerk by asking questions about expensive perfumes

- the woman selected a number of the perfumes

- they both exited the store quickly

The man is described as 25-35, 5’10"- 6’0", average build, wearing a black t-shirt and a dark-coloured baseball cap.

The woman is described as 30-40, 5’4"-5’6", average build, long brown hair, wearing glasses and a green winter jacket.

Security camera images of the man and woman are released.

Personal injury collision #60/2017 Bamburgh Circle and Warden Avenue

On Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 5:09 p.m. police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision at
Bamburgh Circle and Warden Avenue .

It is reported that:

- a woman, 60, was riding a bicycle, southbound on Warden Avenue, at Bamburgh Circle

- a man, 64, was driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue, northbound on Warden Avenue, attempting to make a left turn to westbound Bamburgh Circle

- the cyclist was struck by the vehicle

The cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Driver and vehicle sought in Fail-to-Remain collision, Steeles Avenue East at Laureleaf Road, Video released, Vehicle information released, Update, Police appeal for public's assistance wtih this investigation

On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 8:48 a.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision at Steeles Avenue East and Laureleaf Road.

It is reported that:

- a white sedan was travelling southbound on Laureleaf Road, attempting to make a left turn to eastbound Steeles Avenue East

- a woman, 61, was attempting to cross Steeles Avenue East, from the south side to the north side, in the pedestrian crossing

- as the driver of the vehicle attempted to make the left turn, the vehicle struck the pedestrian

- both the driver and the vehicle failed to remain at the scene following the collision

- the vehicle was last seen travelling eastbound on Steeles Avenue East

The 61-year-old woman received serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The vehicle sought in this collision is described as a white 2014-2016 Mazda 3 Sport GT hatchback.

Assistance sought identifying Person of Interest in collision investigation, Sentinel Road and Murray Ross Parkway area, Security camera images of man released, Update, Police appeal for public's assistance with investigation

Members of Traffic Services Hit-and-Run Unit are seeking assistance with an investigation into a collision which occurred on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 9:25 p.m., in the Sentinel Road and Murray Ross Parkway area.

It is reported that:

- a woman was walking northbound on Sentinel Road, crossing Murray Ross Parkway on a green signal, at the west crosswalk

- a black vehicle was travelling northbound on Sentinel Road, then turned left at Murray Ross Parkway and struck the woman

- the male driver stopped and spoke with the woman, then drove her to a local hospital

- he assisted her in getting inside the hospital, then said that he was going to park his vehicle but never returned

Police attended, spoke with the woman, and were able to obtain security camera footage from the hospital.

The male driver is described as 40-50, with a medium build, bald/shaved hair, and a short, grey beard.

The vehicle is described as a newer-model, four-door, black Honda Civic.

Homicide #56/2017, Tess Richey, 22, Church Street and Wellesley Street East

On Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 3 a.m., Tess Richey, 22, was reported missing. She was last seen in the Church Street and Wellesley Street East area.

See previous release.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 3:30p.m., she was located outside a building undergoing construction, deceased.

On Friday, December 1, 2017, a post-mortem examination was conducted. The cause of death has been determined to be neck compression.

Homicide has now taken over the investigation.

She is described as 5’2”, 155 lbs., long curly black hair, freckles, brown eyes, medium build. She was last seen wearing a grey-and-white striped toque with pompom, knee-length red-and-white flower-patterned dress, black low-cut boots, three-quarter-length salt-and-pepper wool winter coat.
