On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11 a.m., the Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning is hosting police officers from across Ontario for the launch of the 2017/2018 holiday CAA Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) CHECKS program – a campaign to emphasize the importance of not driving impaired.

Members from several partner agencies will be in attendance:

- Chris Whittaker, President Humber College and Host Of Today's Holiday RIDE Launch
- Superintendent Scott Baptist of TPS Traffic Services
- Sandra Siskind Diamond & Diamond PI Lawyers
- Inspector Vanessa Leslie OPP Highway Safety Division

- Dr. Roger Ferreira Chief Science Officer Of Believe Inc

R.I.D.E. CHECKS and CAA's Rewards supports the efforts of police services in the Greater Toronto Area by giving them booklets to make available to citizens, either at roadside spot checks or for pick up at their nearest police facility. The CAA R.I.D.E. CHECKS Rewards Booklet details the penalties associated with drinking and driving and includes money-saving coupons.

Appeal for witness in Sexual Assault investigation, Caledonia Road and Lawrence Avenue West area

The Toronto Police Service is trying to locate a witness to a Sexual Assault on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in the 1130 Caledonia Road area.

It is reported that:

- a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted

- shortly after the sexual assault, the woman ran into traffic on Caledonia Road, looking for assistance

- the woman was able to flag down two passing motorists

- one of the motorists (a woman) may have taken a cellular phone video of the scene and those involved in the sexual assault

The investigating officers would like to speak with the female motorist. She is asked to contact 32 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 416-808-3204.

Personal injury collision #59/2017, Edith Drive at Orchard View Boulevard

On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 12:12 p.m., police received a call for a personal injury collision at Edith Drive and Orchard View Boulevard.

It is reported that:

- a woman, 82, was attempting to cross Edith Drive at Orchard View Boulevard

- a man, 51, was driving a 2008 Ford F550 truck, westbound on Orchard View Boulevard, attempting to make a left turn to southbound Edith Drive

- the pedestrian was struck by the truck

The pedestrian received life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Man, 32, faces five charges in child sexual abuse material investigation, Victoria Park Avenue and Dawes Road area

On Thursday, October 19, 2017, members of Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes Child Exploitation executed a search warrant in the Victoria Park Avenue and Dawes Road area, in relation to an investigation into the uploading of child sexual abuse images

It is alleged that:

- during the execution of the search warrant, officers located a quantity of images and videos of children being sexually abused

Jason Banks, 32, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) two counts of possession of Child Pornography
2) two counts of Access Child Pornography
3) Make Available Child Pornography

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, 2 p.m., courtroom 501.

Public advisory, North York Winter Maintenance By-Law

The North York Winter Maintenance By-law prohibits parking on streets in the former City of North York from Friday, December 1, 2017 up to, and including, Saturday, March 31, 2018, between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless signs are posted indicating an exemption.

This bylaw ensures the city can completely clear streets of snow, and that large emergency vehicles can have free vehicular flow.
