The Toronto Police Service requests assistance locating a missing woman.

Karen Reilly, 51, was last seen on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 8 a.m., in the Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area.

She is described as 5’8”, 163 lbs., short brown hair, blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, jogging pants with the legs pulled up to the knees, bandages on her lower legs and no shoes.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Public Safety Alert, Woolenscote Circle, Police seek assistance with Arson investigations

The Toronto Police Service would like to warn the public about an investigation into a series of suspicious fires.

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, in the early morning hours, officers responded to six different fires set on Woolenscote Circle.

It is reported that:

- six separate fires were set

- an unknown accelerant was used

- the fires caused minor damage to several homes

Police advise residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Personal injury collision #61/2017, Birchmount Road and Merryfield Drive, Police request assistance identifying woman struck by car

On Friday, December 1, 2017, at approximately 11:32 p.m., officers responded to a call for a personal injury collision near the intersection of Birchmount Road and Merryfield Drive.

It is reported that:

- a woman in her 60s was struck as she crossed the street

- she was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

- police request assistance identifying her

She is described as approximately 60, black shoulder-length hair, medium build. She was wearing a black winter jacket with a hood, grey hooded sweater, black tights, beige Uggs winter boots.

Homicide #56/2017, Church Street and Wellesley Street East area, Tess Richey, 22

On Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 3 a.m., Tess Richey, 22, was reported missing. She was last seen in the Church Street and Wellesley Street East area.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., she was located outside a building undergoing construction, deceased.

On Friday, December 1, 2017, a post-mortem examination was conducted. The cause of death was determined to be neck compression.

TPS Homicide took over the investigation.

It is believed that Tess Richey was in the company of an unknown male when her friend departed the area.

She would have been in the company of this male on Church Street, in the areas of Wellesley Street and Dundonald Street, between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

This unknown male has been described as white, taller than the deceased, approximately 5’7” - 6’, slim build, light-coloured short hair.

Investigators are looking to identify this male.

Homicide #57/2017, 3121 Eglinton Avenue East, Malique Ellis, 21, Photograph released

On Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting at 3121 Eglinton Avenue East.

Officers located a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

The man has been identified as Malique Ellis, 21, of Toronto.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Monday, December 4, 2017.

On Monday, December 4, 2017, at 10 a.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, investigators from Sex Crimes Child Exploitation will update the media on additional charges laid against Gerard McGilly, 46.

The news conference will be available on Bell TOC and livestreamed.

Man, 36, arrested in shooting investigation, Faces seven charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a shooting investigation.

On Friday, October 20, 2017, at approximately 7:20 p.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting in the Melbourne Avenue and Elm Grove Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a 35-year-old man became involved in an argument with another man

- the suspect produced a gun during the argument

- the 35-year-old man got into a car and drove away

- as he left, the suspect fired a shot into the car

On Friday, December 1, 2017, Cory Donald Flowers, 36, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Point A Firearm
2) Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
3) Careless Use of Firearm
4) Possession of Weapons Dangerous
5) Carry Concealed Weapon
6) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
7) Possess Firearm while Prohibited

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, December 2, 2017, 10 a.m., room 101.

Investigators need to speak to robbery victim and witnesses, Dufferin subway station

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance locating a female victim and any witnesses in a Robbery investigation.

On Thursday, November 30, 2017, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for a robbery at Dufferin subway station.

It is reported that:

- a 22-year-old woman got on the train

- she was approached by a man

- he grabbed her purse and fled

- he was pursued by the woman and some bystanders

- the man dropped the purse and made good his escape

The 22-year-old woman retrieved her purse but left before officers could arrive.

Police would like to speak with her, and any other witnesses, to obtain further information regarding the incident.

Man, 20, arrested in Arson investigation, Areas between Lennox Street and Harbord Street, from Euclid Avenue to Bathurst Street,

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Arson investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, December 1, 2017, several fires were set in the areas between Lennox Street and Harbord Street, from Euclid Avenue to Bathurst Street

- with the assistance of the public, a man was arrested in the area

Makoons Meawasige-Moore, 20, of no fixed address, was charged with:

1) six counts of Arson Disregard for Human Life and Arson Causing Property Damage

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Man, 26, faces 11 charges in stolen vehicle investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a stolen vehicle investigation.

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 1:11 p.m., officers became involved in a pursuit with an allegedly stolen vehicle in the Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man went into a store to buy some items

- he left his car running and unlocked

- his car was stolen

- officers located the stolen car later in the day

- the car sped away from the officers who engaged in a pursuit

- the car was abandoned by the driver who ran away

- officers pursued him on foot and arrested him

Michael Nguyen, 26, of Toronto, was arrested. He is now charged with:

1) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
2) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
3) Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
4) three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation
5) four counts of Drive While Disqualified
6) Theft of Motor Vehicle

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, December 3, 2017, 10 a.m., room 101.

Police would like to remind the public that it is their responsibility to secure their motor vehicles from being stolen.

Man charged in Luring and Sexual Exploitation Investigation, Gerard McGilly, 46, Update, More people come forward, 10 new charges laid

On Thursday, October 12, 2017, investigators from Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation executed a search warrant in the Bloor Street West and Landsdowne Avenue area of Toronto.

Gerard McGilly, 46, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with six counts of child exploitation-related offenses.

Since then, two more people have come forward.

It is alleged that:

- between September 2015 and June 2017, Gerard McGilly used social media platforms to inappropriately communicate with a girl

- he used these platforms to send the girl pornographic images

- his username was "thepirateubuddha"

- on several occasions he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the girl

It is further alleged that:

- in May 2017, Gerard McGilly used social media platforms to inappropriately communicate with a girl

On Thursday, November 30, 2017, Gerard McGilly, 46, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with the additional offenses of:

1) Two counts of Luring a Child (Under 18)
2) Attempt Sexual Exploitation
3) Sexual Exploitation
4) Two counts of Make Child Pornography
5) Distribute Child Pornography
6) Possession Child Pornography
7) Accessing Child Pornography
8) Make Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

Police request assistance with stabbing investigation, Queen Street West and Brookfield Street area

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance with a stabbing investigation.

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2:38 a.m., officers responded to calls for multiple fights in the Queen Street West and Brookfield Street area.

It is reported that:

- an altercation broke out between two groups of patrons of a local bar

- knives were produced by a number of the combatants

- at least seven people were stabbed in the fights

- one person sustained life-threatening injuries

- he has since been treated and is recovering

Investigators believe there were many people who witnessed these fights. Anyone who may have witnessed these incidents, and has photos or videos, is urged to contact police.

Public awareness, 11 Queens Quay West, Filming on Trillium Ferry

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware that, from Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 12 p.m. to Wednesday December 6, 2017, at 1 a.m., a film shoot will be taking place at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.

This will include approximately 25 cast and crew on board the Trillium Ferry with simulated panic of people on the ferry. Part of the filming will include the setting off of two marine flares into the sky of the Toronto Harbour at approximately 10 p.m.

The ferry will not be in transit and will not have any public riders on board.

The JRCC Trenton, Port Authority and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport have been notified.

On Friday, December 1, 2017, Michael Adam Lemke, 33, of Toronto, surrendered to police and was arrested.

He is charged with:

1) nine counts of Fraud Under $5000
2) Possession of Proceeds of Crime

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, 11 a.m., courtroom 111.

The Toronto Police Association is not currently hosting a picnic for underprivileged children and is not calling members of the public for any donations.
