Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a historical Robbery and Attempt Murder investigation.
It is alleged that:
- on Friday, August 13, 2010, a man entered a motel near Evans Avenue and The East Mall
- with his sweater pulled up tightly around his face to conceal his identity, he approached the store employee, who was standing behind the counter, and pointed a firearm at him
- he obtained a quantity of cash and fled in an unknown direction
It is further alleged that:
- on September 20, 2010, the same man, and a second unidentified man, entered a phone store in the Finch Avenue West and Weston Road area
- both men wore bandanas to conceal their identities
- the man who was involved in the previous robbery then pulled out a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the employee
- a few customers in the store were chased outside by the second man
- the first man demanded cash and phones from the employee, then fired his gun, striking the employee in the shoulder
- both men removed a quantity of cash from the till and fled
- the victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injury
- further investigation identified the armed man who was responsible for both robberies
- the second suspect is yet to be identified.
On Saturday, May 13, 2017, Muse Abdirahim, 28, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:
1) two counts of Robbery with a Firearm
2) two counts of Disguise with Intent
3) Attempt Murder
4) Discharge Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life
5) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
6) Possess of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
7) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
8) Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
9) two counts of Carry Concealed Weapon
He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, room 204
