Man, 43, charged in investigation into Assault on Parking Enforcement Officer

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer was working in 52 Division

- the PEO placed a ticket on the windshield of a car parked on Charlotte Street near King Street West

- as the Parking Enforcement Officer continued checking cars for violations, a man approached the officer in a very aggressive manner, upset with the ticket his wife received

- the man assaulted the officer by shoving him twice

James Douglas Aitken, 43, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 6, 2017, 11 a.m., courtroom 111.

Assistance sought identifying man wanted in four bank robberies, Security camera images now available, Update, Man, 20, arrested and charged

The Toronto Police Service was seeking the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in an investigation into four bank robberies.

A news conference was held at police headquarters on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, with additional information about a fifth bank robbery.

Toronto Police Hold Up investigators would like to thank the public for their response following the news conference asking for assistance identifying the man responsible for these robberies.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, Michael Lilly, 20, of Toronto, was arrested for a series of five financial robberies. He was charged with:

1) five counts of Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 10 a.m., room 501.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Dimitrije Stevanovic, 21, was last seen on the evening of Monday, January 9, 2017, in The Queensway/Park Lawn Road area.

He is described as 6'1", 220 lbs., with brown hair and a brown beard. He was driving a 2000, silver, two-door Honda, with Ontario licence plate BWXT717.

Police are concerned for his safety.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a man involved in a Assault Cause Bodily Harm investigation.

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call for an Assault Cause Bodliy Harm in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- a man boarded a TTC bus and assaulted a 29-year-old man on the bus

- the assault was unprovoked and the 29-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries

The man is described as 20-30, 5'6"-5'9", 175 lbs., slim build. He was wearing jeans, a dark-coloured jacket, white sneakers and a white bandana covering the lower half of his face.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a woman involved in an Assault investigation.

On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 7:09 p.m., police responded to a call for an Assault in the Bayview Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area.

It is reported that:

- a woman boarded a TTC bus and slapped the bus operator multiple times in the face

The woman is described as 5'4", 25-30, thin build, with dark, long, straight hair. She was wearing a light-coloured headband with small ears on top, black neck choker, v-neck shirt, black form-fitting pants, black winter jacket with a large fur hood and black heeled shoes.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a man involved in an Assault onboard a TTC bus against the bus operator.

On Friday, October 14, 2016, at 10:26 a.m., police responded to a call for an Assault in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue West area.

It is reported that:

- a man assaulted the bus operator by punching him in the face and running into Finch station

The man is described as 50-60, medium build, unshaven, with salt-and-pepper hair. He was wearing thin-rimmed glasses, a green baseball hat with "veteran" written on it, a light-coloured jean jacket, grey sweater, black pants and black boots.

Fail-to-Remain fatal collision #63/2016, Eglinton Avenue East, west of Midland Avenue, Update, Man, 28, arrested, faces six charges

On Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 11:17 a.m., a personal injury collision occurred at Eglinton Avenue East, west of Midland Avenue.

It is alleged that:

- a 2013 white BMW 328xi was eastbound on Eglinton Avenue East, west of Midland Avenue, approaching a construction zone

- a man, 41, was working on the roadway inside the construction zone

- the BMW entered the construction zone and subsequently struck the man, 41

- the driver failed to remain at the scene of the collision and fled in his vehicle

The man, 41, was pronounced at the scene.

The vehicle was located by police on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. The investigation was subsequently taken over by the SIU.

On Friday, January 6, 2017, Jovon Henry, 28, of Pickering, was arrested and charged with:

1) Flight causing death
2) Leave scene of accident causing death
3) Criminal negligence causing death
4) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
5) Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
6) Use plate not authorized

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Friday, January 6, 2017.

4) Causing Damage or Injuring Animals
5) Assault

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 10 a.m.

Man, 52, facing 27 charges in multiple commercial Break-and-Enters, Leslieville area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Break-and-Enter investigation in and around the Leslieville area.

It is alleged that:

- during December 2016, a man entered multiple commercial properties by smashing the glass windows and obtaining cash

On Monday, January 9, 2017, Steven Phillips, 52, of Toronto, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1) 14 counts of Breach of Probation
2) 12 counts of Break-and-Enter
3) Possession of Burglar Tools

He appeared in court at College Park on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 10 a.m.

The investigators relied heavily on security cameras from businesses in the area of the break-ins.

3) Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 10 a.m., room 206.

Man, 52, arrested in Robbery investigation, Danforth Avenue and Pape Avenue area

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a Robbery investigation.

On Friday December 30, 2016, police responded to a bank robbery call in the Danforth Avenue and Pape Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man attended a bank, wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie covering his head

- he waited in line, then approached the next available customer service representative

- the man handed over a hold-up note demanding money

- the man indicated he had a gun

- the man received a quantity of cash and fled

On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, Gustav Khan, 52, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 10 a.m. room 101

On Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., members of the Toronto Police Service will participate in their first Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario.

Joined by other police services, law enforcement partners, members of the public and athletes from the Special Olympics, members of the Service will take the plunge at Woodbine Beach, at 1675 Lake Shore Boulevard East.

As supporters of the Special Olympics for the last 30 years as original organizers and participants in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the Polar Plunge is the next fundraising step for the Toronto Police Service family.

Check-in for participants will be at 10 a.m., with opening ceremonies, including remarks from Chief Mark Saunders, starting at 11:30 a.m. The plunge takes place at noon.

He is wanted on a Warrant for:

3) Threaten Bodily Harm
4) Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking
5) Fail to Comply Recognizance

He is described as, 5'9", 140 lbs, blue eyes, brown hair. He has a praying hands tattoo on his right forearm, a "Kristopher" tattoo on his left forearm and a cross tattoo on his back.

His photograph has been released.
