Personal injury collision #1/2017, Bimini Crescent

On Sunday, January 1, 2017, at 2:12 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision on Bimini Crescent.

It is reported that:

− a man, 85, was attempting to exit his motor vehicle, in the driveway of a home on Bimini Crescent

− as the man attempted to exit the vehicle, he was struck by the vehicle door as the vehicle reversed

The 85-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Personal injury collision #4/2017, Bathurst Street at Nina Street

On Sunday, January 8, 2017, at 1:11 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Bathurst Street at Nina Street.

It is reported that:

- a man, 70, and woman, 67, were attempting to cross Bathurst Street, on the south side of Nina Street

- a man, 60, was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima, westbound on Nina Street, approaching Bathurst Street, attempting to make a left turn to southbound Bathurst Street

- as the driver attempted to make the left turn, both of the pedestrians were struck by the vehicle

Both pedestrians were taken to hospital, the 70-year-old man with life-threatening injuries, the 67-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, January 8, 2017, at 6:29 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Ellesmere Road and Mondeo Drive.

It is reported that:

- a woman, 77, was attempting to cross Ellesmere Road, on the west side of Mondeo Drive

- a man, 28, was driving a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, westbound on Ellesmere Road, approaching Mondeo Drive

- the woman was struck by the vehicle as she attempted to cross the road

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Assistance sought identifying man wanted in Assault and Robbery investigation, Yonge Street/Gerrard Street, Security camera images of wanted man released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a man wanted for the Assault and Robbery of a sex-trade worker.

It is reported that:

- on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 7:20 p.m., a man met with a female sex-trade worker at a hotel in the Yonge Street/Gerrard Street area

- the man threw the woman onto the bed and threw a kettle at her

- he then stole her cash before leaving the hotel

He is described as approximately 6’, 170 lbs., between 20 and 30. He was wearing a black jacket, grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black shoes and a dark bag with one strap.

Police seek assistance with Angry Birds Aggravated Assault investigation, Queen Street West and Peter Street area

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with an Aggravated Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at approximately 2:30 a.m. a 24-year-old man was in the Queen Street West and Peter Street area

- he was walking eastbound on Queen Street West with friends when they were approached by a man wearing an Angry Birds costume

- the 24-year-old man commented on the costume

- the man in the Angry Birds costume suddenly turned around and began to assault the 24-year-old man and knocked him to the ground

- the man in the Angry Birds costume continued to punch and kick the 24-year-old man while he was on the ground

- the 24-year-old man sustained serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries

The man in the Angry Birds costume is described as approximately 5'10" - 6'0".

A number of people were in the area at the time of the assault. Police would like to speak with anyone who has any information/video regarding this aggravated assault.

Byron Webber, 74, was last seen on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 5 a.m., in the Mortimer Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area.

He is described as 5’9", with a muscular build, black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black toque, a long-sleeved, brown, checked shirt, and black flip-flops. He may also be wearing a blue waist-length winter jacket.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Whitney Edwards-Dacosta, 21, was last seen on Friday, January 6, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., in the Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue East area.

She is described as medium build, with long, brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white, long-sleeved T-shirt, and blue jeans. She may be wearing a green hooded jacket, with fur around the hood, and red running shoes.

She was last seen driving a light-blue 2007, G35 Infinity, with tinted windows.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., a man was involved in an indecent exposure that occurred in the men's washroom

The man is described as 40-45, medium build, clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue-and-red toque, a black waist-length winter jacket, blue jeans, and brown dress shoes.

Homicide #1/2017, Anthony Earl Smith, 41

On Sunday, January 8, 2017, at 7:45 a.m., police were called to the Queen Street East and Seaton Street area for reports of a shooting.

Once on scene, police located a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Anthony Earl Smith, 41, of Toronto. A post-mortem examination was conducted. The cause of death was a penetrating gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators are appealing to witnesses who live, or may have been, in the area, who have video, or who heard gunshots around that time to contact them.

It is reported that:

- the victim and male suspect had a verbal dispute while on a TTC bus

- the male suspect spat in the victim's face before exiting the bus

The male suspect is described as late 30s to early 40s, with short receding black hair and a dark coat.

On Monday, December 19, 2016, in the early evening, officers responded to a call for a kidnapping in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Bathurst Street area.

On Sunday, January 8, 2017, Kirk Hosten-Alexander, 23, of Toronto, surrendered to police. He was arrested and charged with:

1) Kidnapping
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Robbery
4) Trafficking in Persons
5) Withholding Documents

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Monday, January 9, 2017, 10 a.m., room 101.

On Monday, January 9, 2017, Rayan Graham, 26, of Toronto, surrendered to police. He was arrested and charged with:

1) Kidnapping
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Robbery
4) Trafficking in Persons
5) Withholding Documents

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Monday, January 9, 2017, 10 a.m., room 101.

Police seek assistance with Aggravated Assault investigation, Composite sketches released

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an Aggravated Assault investigation.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at approximately 11:10 a.m., police responded to a call for a Theft at the Home Depot at 1983 Kipling Avenue.

It is reported that:

- a man and woman entered the Home Depot and took a quantity of merchandise without paying

- a store security officer followed the man and woman to the parking lot and attempted to arrest them

- there was a physical altercation between the store security officer and the man and woman

- the man and woman got into a vehicle

- the store security officer tried to stop them

- the store security officer was thrown from the moving vehicle and suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries

- the man and woman fled the area in a silver Chrysler Town and Country mini-van.

The man is described as approximately 45, 5'6", medium build, wearing a beige baseball hat, white short-sleeve shirt and beige pants.

The woman is described as approximately 45, 5'5", medium build, wearing a white baseball hat and black dress.
