Missing man, Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue, Robert Bate, 38

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Robert Bate, 38, was last seen on Friday, September 9, 2016, at 1:30 p.m., in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

He is described as white, 6’0”, 180 lbs., brown eyes, short, straight brown hair and a full beard. It is not known what he was wearing when last seen.

He is known to be violent and dangerous. He has also been known to carry weapons. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Toronto Police Services Board Chair Andy Pringle will be hosting the seventh community consultation session on the modernization of the Toronto Police Service on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., at the McGregor Park Community Centre, 2231 Lawrence Avenue East.

Members of the public are encouraged to read the Transformational Task Force Interim Report, in particular the report's 24 recommendations. The report can be seen here.

The session will include remarks from the Chair and break-out tables designed to get the public's input on the future of policing. The consultation session will also be streamed live on Facebook.

Joe DaSilva, 41, was last seen on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 9 p.m., in the Black Creek Drive/Lawrence Avenue West area.

He is described as 5'9", 200 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair, balding on both sides. He was wearing a red T-shirt and grey track pants.

He is familiar with the TTC.

Homicide #50/2016, 21 Boake Street, Alp Efe, 28,

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 12:46 a.m., officers responded to a call for a stabbing at 21 Boake Street. This area is in close proximity to York University.

It is alleged that:

- officers arrived and found a 28-year-old man suffering from stab wounds

- he was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries

A post-mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

Officers have arrested Alijan Khan, 31, of Toronto. He is charged with:

1) Second Degree Murder

He made a court appearance on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 1000 Finch Avenue West, at 10 a.m.

Parking Enforcement Officer assaulted during Rush-Hour route enforcement, Jin Hua Shao, 33, Faces charge of Assault Peace Officer

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in an Assault Peace Officer investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, September 9, 2016, at approximately 6 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer was enforcing rush-hour routes in the Yonge Street/Finch Avenue area

- a ticket was placed on the windshield of a car parked in a rush-hour route

- as the Parking Enforcement Officer returned to her car, a man approached her and threw the ticket in her window

- when the officer attempted to re-serve the ticket, the man pushed her

- when the officer returned to her car again, the man attempted to open her car door

- unsuccessful with the doors locked, he fled

Later, at approximately 8:45 p.m., he surrendered to police.

Jin Jua Shao, 33, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Assault Peace Officer

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 1000 Finch Avenue, at 1 p.m., in courtroom 301.

Missing woman, Victoria Park Avenue and O'Connor Drive, Rema Graver, 67

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing woman.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Rema Graver, 67, was last seen in the Victoria Park Avenue and O’Connor Drive area.

She is described as black, 5’6”, slim build, dark complexion, wearing grey pants and a cream-colour sweater. She may have also been wearing a blue bandana.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Over 200 Firearms and Ammunition seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest and a significant seizure of firearms and ammunition.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to a home in the Bloor Street West/Royal York Road area for an alarm call

- police found the home to be insecure, and entered

- officers did not find any signs of a break and enter, but found a significant number of firearms, which were not stored properly

- the officers secured the home to apply for a search warrant

It is further alleged that:

- later that night, officers executed the search warrant

- over 200 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were seized

The 20-year-old resident was arrested and charged with numerous careless-storage-type offences.

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind licenced firearm holders to follow the regulations governing safe storage.

Arrest made in Shooting Investigation, Dundas Street West/Euclid Avenue

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a shooting investigation.

On Monday, April 25, 2016, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police were called to a shooting in the Dundas Street West/Euclid Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man was in an argument with a group of people

- the man then discharged a firearm toward the group of people

- the bullet missed his intended target but struck a driver waiting for a fare nearby

- the man then fled in a motor vehicle

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man was later identified through investigation.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, Paul Weeden, 24, of Mississauga, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Weapon
2) Carry Concealed Weapon
3) Possession of a Weapon
4) Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound Endanger Life
5) Assault with a Weapon
6) Assault Cause Bodily Harm
7) Cause Bodily Harm by Criminal Negligence
8) Careless use of a Firearm
9) Pointing a Firearm
10) Use Firearm During Commission of Indictable Offence
11) Possess Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Firearm Prohibition
12) two counts of Possession for the Purpose of a Schedule II Substance (Marijuana)
13) two counts of Possession of a Schedule II Substance (Marijuana)
14) two counts of Possession of Proceeds of Crime

He will be appearing in court on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Old City Hall, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 101.

Man Arrested in Scarborough Shotgun Shooting, Rachard Dario Holder, 22

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest made in a shooting investigation.

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 11:50 p.m., police responded to a radio call for a shooting, in the area of Overture Road and Kingston Road.

It is alleged that:

- police located a 31-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound

- the man had been shot at close range with a shotgun

- the man was transported to hospital

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, with the assistance of the Emergency Task Force, Rachard Dario Holder, 22, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Attempt Murder
2. Careless Use of a Firearm
3. Carry Firearm in a careless manner
4. Discharge firearm
5. Pointing a firearm
6. Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
7. Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
8. Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order
9. Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
10. Fail to comply probation

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 412.

On Saturday, September 17, 2016, the RBC Run for the Kids will take place.

The race will consist of three distances, 5km, 7km, and 15km, which begin and end in the area of Mel Lastman Square. A significant portion of the 15km race takes place in parkland.

All three distances will have various road closures and lane restrictions associated with them. Motorists can expect delays.

The 15km route:
- Southbound Beecroft Road from Park Home Avenue to North York Boulevard
- Eastbound North York Boulevard from Beecroft Road to Yonge Street
- Northbound Yonge Street from North York Boulevard to Finch Avenue West
- Westbound Finch Avenue from Yonge Street to Dufferin Street
- Northbound Dufferin Street from Finch Avenue West to Supertest Road
- Eastbound G Ross Lord Park from Supertest Road to Torresdale Avenue
- Southbound Torresdale Avenue to Finch Corridor Recreational Trail
- Eastbound Finch Corridor Recreational Trail/Finch Hydro Corridor to Talbot Road
- Southbound Talbot Road from Finch Hydro Corridor to Finch Avenue West
- Eastbound Finch Avenue West to Yonge Street
- Southbound Yonge Street from Finch Avenue West to North York Boulevard
- Westbound North York Boulevard the finish line

The 7km route:
- Southbound Beecroft Road from Park Home Avenue to North York Boulevard
- Eastbound North York Boulevard from Beecroft Road to Yonge Street

- Turn around on Yonge Street at Sheppard Avenue West

The 5km route:

Police seek public assistance in identifying a man involved in a bank robbery, Bloor Street West and Bedford Avenue, Security Camera Image released

Toronto Police Hold Up Squad are seeking the public's assistance identifying a man involved in a bank robbery.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, August 26, 2016, at 12:10 p.m., a man entered a financial institution located in the Bloor Street West and Bedford Avenue area

- the man lined up and then approached a bank employee

- the man made a verbal demand for a specific amount of money

- the teller handed over some money and the man demanded more

- the man walked over to the bank manager’s office and repeated his demand for more money

- after receiving a quantity of money, the man fled the bank

He is described as white, in his late 30's to 40's, 5'8 to 5'10", with a tattoo sleeve on his left arm. He was wearing black clothing, a black H VOL–ALLMAX t-shirt, a black New York Yankees baseball cap and carrying a black knapsack with white piping.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a 19-year-old woman was in the Lake Shore Boulevard East and Parliament Street area

- a man sexually assaulted the 19-year-old woman

The man is described as brown with a medium complexion, 20-25, 6", thin build, with black, short, spiky hair. He was wearing a brown button-up dress shirt and a gold ring.

Erwin Casareno, 55, facing three charges in Sexual Interference investigation, Police concerned there may be other victims, Man's photograph released

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to an arrest in a Sexual Interference investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, September 10, 2016, a man sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl at the Philip Math Chess Academy, 1033 McNicoll Avenue

- the man taught the 10-year-old girl chess

- the assault occurred during class hours

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, Erwin Casareno, 55, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Sexual Assault
2) Sexual Interference
3) Invitation to Sexual Touching

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Thursday, September 15, 2016, 10 a.m., room 412.

Erwin Casareno, 55, has taught at the Philip Math Chess Academy for the past five years.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

Bryan Sousa, 26, was last seen on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, around 5:30 p.m., in the Rogers Road and Silverthorn Avenue area.

He is described as approximately 6'1", medium build, short brown hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, jean shorts and a white bandage around his left arm. He was riding a red mountain bike.
