The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Chanthalangsy Sayarath, 58, was last seen on Friday, September 9 2016, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in the East Liberty Street and Hanna Avenue area.

He is described as 5’8”, medium build, shaved head, scar on his chest, wearing a light-blue T-shirt, dark jeans, brown dress shoes, a necklace with a bronze Buddha and a braided cloth band on his left wrist.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Matthew Blundon, 30, was last seen on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 2 p.m., in the Markham Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.

He is described as 6’1", 180 lbs., dirty blonde/brown short hair, brown eyes, and a scruffy short beard. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and carrying a briefcase with painting supplies.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Monday, September 12, 2016, Chief William McCormack funeral cortege, Arrival and departure routes

On Monday, September 12, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., the funeral cortege for Chief William McCormack is scheduled to arrive at St. Paul’s Basilica, 83 Power Street.

Prior to the arrival, upon exiting the Don Valley Parkway, and travelling westbound on Richmond Street, approaching Power Street, the marked lead vehicle, four motorcycles, the lead funeral car and hearse will continue west to Parliament Street, left turn (south), east on King Street and north on Power Street, in place behind the Mounted Unit, the TPS Pipe Band and the Chief's Ceremonial Unit. The Chief's Ceremonial Unit pallbearers will take their place on either side of the hearse.

Upon approaching Power Street from Richmond Street, the family limousines will turn right on Power Street (north), proceeding up to the Cathedral entrance where they will exit, and line up curbside, awaiting the arrival of the processional.

Once the family is in place, the processional will step off, north on Power Street, to the Cathedral.

The Pipe Band will move to the west curb, up to Queen Street, counter-march and halt facing southbound, continuing to play until the casket is inside the Cathedral. The Chief's Ceremonial Unit will take up their place alongside the west curb, south of the Pipe Band. The hearse will stop opposite the Cathedral steps.

The Chief's Ceremonial Unit pallbearers will take Chief McCormack's casket inside the Cathedral, where the transfer will be made to the family pallbearers.

After the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chief's Ceremonial Unit will be on the west side of Power Street. The Pipe Band will be to the north, on the west side. The Chief's Ceremonial Unit pallbearers will carry the casket to the hearse and place it inside. Once the family is in the vehicles, the cortege will proceed east on Queen Street and north on the Don Valley Parkway.

The Toronto Police Service is kicking off its annual United Way Toronto and York Region fundraising campaign on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 11 a.m., in the courtyard at headquarters, 40 College Street. (In the event of rain, it will be held in the main lobby).

As part of the "Rio in T.O." Olympic theme, eight Service members will compete in four fun events to promote the campaign that runs through the fall to help continue United Way-funded programs.

Service members have donated nearly $5 million over the past 10 years to the United Way Toronto and York Region.

Food, music, prizes and a lunch, with proceeds going to United Way, will be part of the event.

Joan Charlton, 79, was last seen on Friday, September 9, 2016, at approximately 10 a.m., in the area of Parliament Street and Winchester Street at a coffee shop.

She is described as 5’5", 150 lbs., long straight white hair to her shoulders, in a ponytail. She was wearing a white blouse, brown pants, and a pink pair of Nike running shoes.

Shooting investigation, Merrill Avenue East and Moberly Avenue area, Six men and one girl arrested

The Toronto Police Service has made seven arrests in a shooting investigation.

It is alleged that:

- In the early morning of Sunday, September 11, 2016, a large party took place at a house in the Merrill Avenue East and Moberly Avenue area.

- at 2:11 a.m., a single gunshot was fired at the entrance of the house

- several people were located outside the house, attempting to flee the scene

- six men and one girl were arrested after three handguns, one pellet gun and a quantity of drugs were located.

A girl, 16, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Unauthorized possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
2) Carry Concealed Weapon
3) Unauthorized possession of firearm
4) Careless Storage of Firearm
5) Careless Storage of Ammunition
6) Weapons Dangerous
7) Possession of prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized
8) Possess Firearm while prohibited
9) Obstruct Peace Officer


Abdul Kareem Jama, 20, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Unauthorized possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
2) Carry Concealed Weapon
3) Unauthorized possession of firearm
4) Careless Storage of Firearm
5) Careless Storage of Ammunition
6) Weapons Dangerous
7) Possession of prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized
8) Weapons Prohibition


Abdul Mohamud, 20, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Unauthorized possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
2) Unauthorized possession of Firearm
3) Careless Storage of Firearm
4) Careless Storage of Ammunition
5) Fail To Comply with Probation
6) Tampering with Serial Number
7) Fail to Comply with Probation
8) Possession of Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace

Omer Mahdi, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Unauthorized possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

6) Tampering with Serial Number
7) Possession of Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace

Ammar Tahir, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Possession for the Purpose Schedule I
2) Two counts of Possession for the Purpose Schedule II
3) Possession of Proceeds of Crime


Sewit Tadese, 26, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Weapons Dangerous
2) Unauthorized possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
3) Unauthorized possession of Firearm
4) Careless Storage of Firearm
5) Careless Storage of Ammunition
6) Carry Concealed Weapon


Garad Ali, 26, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Obstruct Peace Officer

The six men were scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Sunday, September 11, 2016. The girl was scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Sunday, September 11, 2016.

He is described as 5’4”, 100 lbs., with grey hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey sweate and a plaid long-sleeved white shirt.

Police seek assistance with shooting investigation, Finch Avenue West and Weston Road area, Security camera images and video released

On Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 1:20 a.m., a confrontation involving three men led to a shooting in the Weston Road and Finch Avenue West area.

It is reported that:

- three men and two women were involved in a confrontation

- all three men were armed with handguns

- during the confrontation, there was an exchange of gunfire

- two of the men fled the scene in a white Dodge Durango SUV with no front licence plate

- the third man and two women were seen leaving the area in an older-model Acura MDX SUV

- there were no reported injuries

Update to Homicide #49/2016, Liberty Street and Mowat Avenue area, Kiesingar Gunn, 26

On Sunday, September 11, 2016, at 4:04 a.m., the Toronto Police Service responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Liberty Street and Mowat Avenue.

It is reported that:

- the victim, who has been identified as Kiesingar Gunn, 26, of Toronto, was in the Liberty Street and Mowat Avenue area,

- shots were fired and he was struck by a bullet, transported to hospital in serious condition, and succumbed to his injuries just before midnight on Sunday, September 11, 2016,

- police do not believe he was the intended target of the shooting.

Police are asking anyone who may have been at the scene, who may have cell phone video or photos, to contact police. Further, if there is anyone who has a business or residence in that area with security video that may have captured video of the event are also asked to contact the Homicide Squad.

Franco Maiorano, 41, was last seen on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 11:30 p.m., getting off a bus at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls.

He lives in Toronto but is known to frequent casinos in Niagara Falls and Rama.

He is described as 5'10", 180 lbs., short brown hair, and unshaven. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, green pants, running shoes and a beige fishing-style hat.

Arrest made by Paid Duty officer, Loaded firearm seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest and seizure of firearms.

It is alleged that:

- on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at approximately 3:45 p.m., an officer was performing a Paid Duty at a retail store in the Eglinton Avenue East/Warden Avenue area

- the officer noticed a man displaying characteristics of an armed person

- the officer approached and arrested the man

- a loaded Glock 9mm and two additional loaded magazines were found

It is further alleged that:

- a search warrant was executed at his residence

- a 12-gauge shotgun was found, unsecured, with an illegible serial number

Graham Wallace, 30, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Careless Use of a Firearm (Carry)
2) Possess Firearm at Unauthorized Place
3) Possess Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
4) Carry Concealed Weapon
5) Weapons Dangerous
6) Careless use of a Firearm (Storage)
7) Possession of a Firearm with a Tampered Serial Number

He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 412.

The Toronto Police Service reminds licenced firearm holders to follow the regulations governing their firearms.

Arrest made in $1.9M Fraud Investigation, Police believe there may be more victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a Fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- the owner of GMR Consulting, forged cheques in her name and the name of her company

- over a two-year period, with this scheme, she defrauded former clients of approximately $1.9 million

On Monday, September 12, 2016, at approximately 9 a.m., Gwendolyne Martinez Rodriguez, 30, of Toronto, was arrested.

She is charged with:

1) Fraud - Over ($5000)
2) Utter Forged Document

She was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 12, 2016, at College Park Court, at 2 p.m.

Police are concerned current and former clients of GMR Consulting may have suffered similar losses.

Personal injury collision #54/2016, Gerrard Street East at Jarvis Street

On Sunday, September 11, 2016, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Gerrard Street East and Jarvis Street.

It is reported that:

− a 47-year-old man was driving a 2014 Ford van, southbound on Jarvis Street to eastbound Gerrard Street East

− a 22-year-old woman was driving a 2014 Land Rover, northbound on Jarvis Street approaching Gerrard Street East

− the vehicles collided in the intersection

The driver of the Ford van suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Arrest made in Fraud Investigation, Duane Sahadeo, 30

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a man was a Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD) employee as a manager in the Trade Support Group for TD Securities

- the man defrauded TD approximately $921,310.00 over a time span of six years

- the man fraudulently obtained funds through improper requests for TD bank drafts

- the man set up a shell company called MRS Consulting Ltd. and with this company, he would invoice TD for non-existent services

- the man also submitted fraudulent manual expense claims to TD

On Thursday, September 8, 2016 , at 7:40 a.m., Duane Sahadeo, 30, of Pickering, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1. Fraud Over $5000
2. Utter Forged Document

He is scheduled to appear at Old City Hall court on Friday, September 30, 2016, at 9 a.m., in court room 111.

Rush-Hour Route Enforcement Campaign Results, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 to Friday, September 9, 2016

The enforcement of the city’s rush-hour routes and other traffic and parking offences continues to be a priority for the Toronto Police Service. On Tuesday, September 6, 2016 to Friday, September 9, 2016, the Service launched a heightened rush-hour route enforcement campaign. This campaign focused on the traffic congestion and gridlock of the rush-hour routes within the downtown core. Parking Enforcement Officers and members from Traffic Services saturated the downtown core during morning and afternoon rush hours.

The campaign focused on the areas bounded by Bloor Street to Front Street, and Parliament Street to Dufferin Street.

The Rush-Hour Route Enforcement Campaign Results are as follows:

Parking Tickets Issued: 1,467
Vehicles Towed: 298
