Homicide #44/2016, John Ignagni, 33

On Sunday, August 21, 2016, at approximately 12:30 p.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Accident in the underground parking garage at 954 King Street West.

Once on scene, police located a motor vehicle with a man in medical distress. Lifesaving efforts were performed, however he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been identified as John Ignagni, 33, of Toronto.

Investigators believe he was the intended target.

A Person of Interest leaving the area of the scene on a bicycle was described as a white man wearing a dark bicycle helmet.

The post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday, August 22, 2016.

Man, woman, face total of 20 charges in shooting investigation, Danforth Avenue/Jones Avenue area, Loaded firearm seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests in a shooting investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at approximately 11 p.m., an argument took place between three people inside a restaurant in the Danforth Avenue/Jones Avenue area

- two people challenged the third person to take the argument outside and walked out

- the third person did not accept and stayed behind

- a short time later, the third, a 19-year-old man, left the restaurant

- shortly afterwards, he was confronted by the two and shot

The 19-year-old man was taken to hospital.

It is further alleged that:

- a short distance away, police located and arrested the two.

- a loaded .45 cal semi-automatic gun, with one round chambered, was seized

Daniel Green, 31, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3) Careless Storage of Firearm
4) Possession of a firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
5) Pointing a Firearm
6) Carrying Concealed Weapon
7) Possession of a Weapon
8) Use Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
9) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
10) Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
11) Resist Arrest
12) Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order
13) two counts of Fail To Comply with Probation

Randi Wasylyk, 29, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
2) Careless Storage of Firearm
3) Possession of a firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
4) Carrying Concealed Weapon
5) Possession of a Weapon
6) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
7) Accessory After the Fact

They were both scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, August 21, 2016, 9 a.m., courtroom 101.

Man, 29, faces eight charges in Point Firearm investigation, Air gun seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Point Firearm investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 9:45 p.m., a group of men was ejected from a bar on Polson Street

- one of the men took exception and threatened to kill the door staff

- the man retrieved a gun from the parking lot, returned to the door staff, and pointed the gun at them, threatening them again

Police were called and arrested the man.

It is further alleged that:

- the gun was a Walther CP99 Compact air gun

Justin Longshaw, 29, of no fixed address, is charged with:

1) two counts of Uttering Threats
2) Carrying Concealed Weapon
3) two counts of Pointing a Firearm
4) Use Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
5) Fail to Comply with Probation
6) Obstruct Peace Officer

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, August 21, 2016, 10 a.m., courtroom 101.

Man wanted in Sexual Assault investigation, Seneca College, Newnham Campus, Police concerned there may be other victims, Security camera image of wanted man released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- some time in early August 2016, a man sexually assaulted a woman at Seneca College, Newnham Campus

- the man was also seen loitering near the women's washroom

A security camera image of the man is now available.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

Police request assistance with Assault investigation, Portland Street and Adelaide Street West area

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with an Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 2:20 a.m., three women and a man, in their 20s, were assaulted in the parking lot beside 473 Adelaide Street West

- the four were together in the parking lot when one of the women engaged three men in a conversation near their vehicle, a black Ford Mustang

- the woman was assaulted by one of the three men

- the other two women and the man were also assaulted by the three men

- the three men then drove away in the Black Mustang

The three men are described as olive skin, in their late 20s, 5'8"-5'10", and wore dark clothing.

Bystanders were seen recording the incident with their cell phones.

Public assistance sought with two Robbery investigations

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance with two Robbery investigations.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 10 a.m., a white van approached a woman standing on her driveway in the Sackville Street/Gerrard Street East area

- and man and a woman emerged from the van, displayed a knife and robbed the 81-year-old woman of her jewelry

It is further alleged that:

- later, at 2 p.m., the same van approached a woman standing on her driveway in the Wellesley Street East/Parliament Street area

- the same man and woman emerged from the van, displayed a knife, and robbed the 76-year-old woman of her jewelry

The occupants of the van are described as having olive complexions, in their mid-40s.

Personal injury collision, Bay Street, north of Saint Mary Street, Police seeking four male witnesses

On Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 5:48 p.m., police responded to a call for a cyclist-struck personal injury collision on Bay Street, north of Saint Mary Street.

It is reported that:

- a 57-year-old man was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry taxi, northbound on Bay Street, north of Saint Mary Street

- a 31-year-old man was riding a bicycle, northbound on Bay Street, north of Saint Mary Street

- the cyclist was struck by the taxi

The 31-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

Police are seeking assistance identifying any witnesses who offered assistance immediately after the collision. Police are specifically seeking four male witnesses who attended the scene after the collision.

The first is described as brown, 30-40, medium build, wearing a dark-blue short-sleeved shirt, dark-grey pants, brown dress shoes, riding a bicycle northbound on Bay Street and had stopped for the collision

The second is described as white, 55-65, bald, with a goatee with grey hair, wearing a light-blue shirt, and glasses.

The third is described as 30-40, thin build, light-blue long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, riding a bicycle northbound on Bay Street and had stopped for the collision.

The fourth is described as white, 30-40, medium build, short dark hair, clean-shaven, wearing a backpack with grey shoulder straps, light-blue-and-white striped button-down short-sleeved shirt, blue riding gloves, dark sunglasses, riding a bicycle and had stopped for the collision.

Fatal collision #53/2016, Finch Avenue East at Skymark Drive

On Friday, August 19, 2016, at 9:06 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Finch Avenue East at Skymark Drive.

It is reported that:

- a 68-year-old man was driving a 2010 Dodge Ram pick-up, southbound on Skymark Drive, attempting to make a left turn to eastbound Finch Avenue East

- an 80-year-old man was attempting to cross Finch Avenue East, east of Skymark Drive

- the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle

The pedestrian received life-threatening injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

Man, 21, faces two charges in bank robbery investigation, Lawrence Avenue East and Kennedy Road area, Citizen intervention enabled arrest

On Friday, August 19, 2016, at 4 p.m., a man was arrested following a bank robbery near Lawrence Ave East and Kennedy Road.

It is alleged that:

- a man attended a bank branch location, bypassed other waiting customers, and approached a teller

- he handed the teller a hold up note demanding money and indicated he had a gun

- after receiving a quantity of money, he started banging on the counter, demanding more money from the other bank employees

- a citizen witness who had been waiting in line, interrupted the robbery by physically grabbing the man

- the ensuing struggle between the citizen and the man continued into the parking lot until police officers arrived and the man was taken into custody

- the citizen received minor injuries during the struggle

Andre Cardall Hardware, 21, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Disguise with Intent

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, August 20, 2016, room 101.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at approximately 9:15 a.m., a woman, 47, was walking southbound on Sherbourne Street, south of Bloor Street East

- she was approached by a man who attempted to engage her in conversation, then sexually assaulted her

The man is described as light-brown, short grey hair, 35-45, 5’6", 140-150 lbs., slight build, wearing a burgundy T-shirt and jeans.

It is alleged that:

- between Tuesday, July 19, 2016 and Sunday, August 7, 2016, a man broke into commercial premises in the midtown area

On Sunday, August 21, 2016, Thomas Campbell, 55, of no fixed address, was charged with:

1) four counts of Break-and-Enter
2) Theft of e-bike

He appeared in court at College Park on Monday, August 22, 2016, 10 a.m., courtroom 501.

He was also wanted on a Canada Wide Parole Warrant.

Marijuana dispensary search warrant executed, Two men face drug-related charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests in a Controlled Drugs & Substances Act investigation.

On Monday, August 22, 2016, at approximately 3:25 p.m., officers from the 11 Division Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant at Canaboss, a marijuana dispensary at 1684 Queen Street West.

Theodore Horhager, 27, of Toronto and Derek Jackson, 27, of Toronto, were arrested and jointly charged with:

1) Possession of a Schedule II Substance
2) Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
3) Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime

They are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, October 10, 2016, 9 a.m., room 114.

Toronto Police Service charges York Regional Police officer

The Toronto Police Service has charged a York Regional Police officer.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 4 p.m., members of York Regional Police were involved in an investigation in the Queen Street West and Lisgar Street area

- officers were involved in a foot pursuit of a male who fled from police

- the male was located at the rear of 1214 Queen Street West

- an officer from York Regional Police Canine Unit assisted in the apprehension and arrest of the male

- during the arrest, the male was assaulted

On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Constable Michael Partridge, 35, was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, October 27, 2016, 11 a.m., courtroom 111.

Armed Retail Robbery, Two boys, 16 and 14, arrested

On Monday, August 22, 2016, at approximately 7 p.m., police received a call for
a robbery at a convenience store in the Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

- two boys concealed their faces with balaclavas and entered a convenience store

- a boy was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, which he pointed directly at the victim, and demanded money

- the boys obtained a quantity of money and fled

Investigation by uniform officers and Hold Up led to the arrest of two boys.

It is alleged that:

- a Glock 9mm handgun and ammunition was recovered.

A 16 year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He was been charged with:

1) Robbery while armed with a firearm
2) Disguise with Intent
3) Possession of Property obtained by Crime (under)
4) Use Firearm during the commission of an Indictable Offence
5) Careless storage of a firearm
6) Point firearm
7) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
8) Possession of a prohibited device
9) Possession of a firearm obtained by crime

A 14 year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Robbery while armed with firearm
2) Disguise with Intent
3) Possession of property obtained by crime (under)

The names of the Young Persons cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

They were scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday,
August 23, 2016, 10 a.m., room 204.

Jean Roy, 43, was last seen on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at approximately 3 p.m., in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

He is described as 5"9', 177 lbs., with an average build, brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing light-grey fleece track pants, a long-sleeve shirt, light-grey jersey and dark sandals.

Police are concerned for his safety, and advise that, if located, please do not approach. Contact police immediately.

33 Division’s “Wanted Person of the Week,” Talha Saeed, 23, Considered armed and dangerous

The 33 Division Warrant office is requesting the public's assistance locating Talha Saeed, 23, of Toronto. He is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.

On Friday, May 27, 2016, at 2:59 a.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for sounds of gunshots in the Roywood Drive and Underpass Gate area. Two bullet holes were located.

It is alleged that:

- a man fired two shots from a handgun

- the man fled the area in a waiting vehicle

- no one was injured

He is wanted for the following:

1) Discharge Firearm into a Place/Reckless to Others
2) Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
3) Carry Concealed Weapon
4) Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without Holding a Licence and Registration
5) Possess Firearm other than Restricted or Prohibited Firearm knowingly not Holding a Licence
6) Use/Handle/Store Firearm Carelessly
7) Mischief to Property Under $5000

He is described as 5'9", 150 lbs., brown eyes and black hair. His photograph has been released.
