Public Safety Alert, Lost medication, 396 St. Clair Avenue West

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of lost medication.

On Saturday July 30, 2016, at 10 a.m., two bottles of liquid (each containing 140 mg) methadone were lost in the parking lot of 396 St. Clair Avenue West.

The liquid medication can be harmful/fatal if ingested, especially to children.

Four men face total of 28 charges in firearm discharge investigation, Pape Avenue and Mortimer Avenue area, Police thank public for assistance

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of four arrests in a firearm discharge investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, August 15, 2016, police responded to the sound of gunshots in the Pape Avenue and Mortimer Avenue area

- a vehicle in the area was investigated

- police located a Glock 10mm handgun inside the vehicle and bullet casings

Vishnuvarthan Srivaratharajah, 26, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Careless use of a firearm.
2) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3) Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon
4) Possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized.
5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
6) Discharge firearm recklessly
7) Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.


Bao Quach, 19, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Careless use of a firearm
2) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3) Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon
4) Possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized.
5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
6) Discharge firearm recklessly
7) Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose


Walter Long, 19, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Careless use of a firearm
2) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3) Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon
4) Possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized.
5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
6) Discharge firearm recklessly
7) Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose


Van Le, 19, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Careless use of a firearm
2) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3) Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon
4) Possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized.
5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
6) Discharge firearm recklessly
7) Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

They were scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Monday August 15, 2016, 2 p.m.

Homicide #42/2016, Steven Doyle, 27

On Monday, August 15, 2016, at 5:47 p.m., police received a call for a man struck by a vehicle on the west side of George Street and Gerrard Street East .

It is alleged that:

- a blue Dodge Caravan was travelling at a high rate of speed, northbound on George Street

- a man was standing on the west side of George Street

- the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and deliberately struck the man

- the vehicle fled the scene

- the vehicle was later located, abandoned, in the area

The man was pronounced at the scene. He has been identified as Steven Doyle, 27, of no fixed address.

Police are seeking the public's assistance with this investigation. The driver of the vehicle is described as having brown skin with a light complexion, 5'8"-5'10", slim-to-medium build, with dark-brown shoulder-length hair in a long ponytail. He was wearing a dark shirt and prescription glasses with rectangular frames.

Johnathon Bronson, 14, was last seen on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 2 a.m., in the Yonge Street and Hwy 401 area.

He is described as 5'11", 150 lbs., brown eyes, short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt and dark khaki shorts.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Toronto Police Service releases RFI for Court Services as part of the Transformational Task Force

On Monday, August 15, 2016, the Toronto Police Service released a Request for Information (RFI) to gather feedback from third parties interested in operating all or some of TPS Court Services.

The objective of the RFI is to gather information regarding the ability of third parties to deliver services and proposed solutions with a view of establishing future budgetary requirements should the TPS elect to proceed with such an initiative. The feedback obtained through the process is key to achieving the Service's commitment to affordability and sustainability as outlined by the Transformational Task Force.

Interested parties are invited to go to MERX to review the RFI. Please note that all information must be obtained through the formal procurement process as outlined on MERX. Questions can only be directed to Purchasing Services at 416-808-7997.

The RFI is being done as part of the implementation of recommendation #20 of the Transformational Task Force Interim Report. The Interim Report was released on June 17, 2016 and, if implemented, will develop a modernized police model with a focus on community safety by directing resources to where the public needs them most, embracing partnerships and concentrating on the complex needs of our large city. Public Safety Alert, Forty-First Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West area, Stolen medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of medication taken during a robbery.

On Tuesday, August, 16, 2016, at approximately 11 a.m., a 63-year-old woman had just filled a prescription in the Forty-First Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West area.

It is reported that:

- she was approached from behind by two men

- she was pushed to the ground and the medication stolen

The following drugs were taken from her:

1) 600 tablets of Oxycodone CR80 mg
2) 420 tablets of Oxycocet
3) 120 tablets of Diazepam 10 mg

These drugs can cause addiction, overdose or death, especially if taken by children.

Fatal collision #52/2016, Steeles Avenue East, east of Reesor Road

On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 2:50 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Steeles Avenue East, east of Reesor Road.

It is alleged that:

- a 57-year-old-man, driving a blue Ford pick-up truck, was travelling westbound on Steeles Avenue East, east of Reesor Road

- the driver of the Ford truck attempted to pass a grey Toyota Camry, also travelling westbound on Steeles Avenue East, at the top of a hill

- the Ford truck struck an eastbound black Honda Civic head-on in the eastbound lane, causing it to collide with the Toyota Camry

The driver of the Ford truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Honda Civic was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic, a 23-year old woman, received life-threatening injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

The driver of the Ford truck, Leroy Coore, 57, of Whitby, is charged with:

1) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
2) Impaired Driving Causing Death
3) Refuse Breath Sample Causing Death
4) Criminal Negligence Causing Death
5) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
6) Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm
7) Refuse Breath Sample Causing Bodily Harm
8) Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Monday, August 15, 2016, 10 a.m.

Man charged in Sexual Assault investigation, Jose Colindres, 64, Police concerned there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- from 2006 to 2011, Jose Colindres, now 64, was a Pastor in an Evangelical Christian Congregation operating within the City of Toronto

- a 47-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl were members of the congregation

- he sexually assaulted them during that time

On Monday, August 15, 2016, Jose Colindres, 64, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) five counts of Sexual Assault
2) three counts of Sexual Interference
3) three counts of Sexual Exploitation

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, 10 a.m., room 101.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a series of residential Break-and-Enters in the midtown area, including the Rosedale and Leaside neighbourhoods, during the overnight hours.

It is reported that:

- the suspect(s) are utilizing doors and windows that have been left open or unlocked by the homeowner

- the Break-and-Enters are taking place throughout the overnight hours while residents are at home, usually sleeping

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind the public:

- remain vigilant and secure your property

- remember to lock your front, side and rear doors at night or when not at home

- remember to shut your ground-floor windows at night or when not at home

- activate your home alarm system if so equipped

On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 6:15 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for a Sexual Assault in the Markham Road and Brimorton Road area.

It is reported that:

- a 42-year-old woman was jogging in the area when a man approached her from behind

- the man then sexually assaulted the woman

The man is described as brown, in his 20s, approximately 6'0", thin athletic build and brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts.
