Personal injury collision #19/2016, Sheppard Avenue East at Gateforth Drive

On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 8:34 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Sheppard Avenue East at Gateforth Drive.

− a 25-year-old man was driving a 2015 Honda Civic, westbound on Sheppard Avenue East approaching Gateforth Drive

− a 14-year-old girl was attempting to cross Sheppard Avenue, west of Gateforth Drive

− the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle

The 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Arrest in stabbing investigation, Kingston Road/Pickering Street, Boy, 15, faces three charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a stabbing investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at approximately 12:20 p.m., two 15-year-old boys became involved in an argument in the Kingston Road/Pickering Street area

- one of the boys then knocked the other to the ground and punched him in the face

- as the boy who was assaulted walked away, he was followed, then stabbed in the arm

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, April 7, 2016, police arrested the boy.

He has been charged with:

1) Assault
2) Assault with a Weapon
3) Aggravated Assault

He was scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Thursday, April 7, 2016, 10 a.m.

The boy's identity cannot be disclosed under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The police would like to thank the students and residents who remained on scene to provide information which assisted the investigation. Further, police would also like to thank the surrounding businesses who provided security camera video which was a great asset to the investigation.

Toronto Police Service Hold Up is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man and woman wanted in a robbery investigation.

See excerpt from previous news release:

---

On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 11 p.m., it is alleged that:

- a man and woman entered Starbank Convenience, located at 340 College Street

- they browsed the store aisles, then approached the store attendant and a 10" knife was pulled out

- the attendant fled in fear

- the man walked behind the counter and took a quantity of money from the cash register and they both ran from the store and into an awaiting vehicle

The vehicle is described as a light-coloured four-door sedan.

The man is described as Aboriginal, 6’2", 250 lbs., glasses with black frames. He was wearing a striped sweater, black winter jacket and black Adidas pants with three white stripes down the sides.

The woman is described as Aboriginal, mid-20s, 5’, with long black hair. She was wearing a camouflage jacket with fur-trimmed hood, black top with a round native Mohawk symbol.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, the man was arrested in Brantford and returned to Toronto.

Paul Christensen, 44, has been charged with:

1) Robbery with Offensive Weapon
2) Weapons Dangerous

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

The woman is still outstanding and yet to be identified.

This is the latest instalment of 14 Division's "Fugitive Friday." We are looking for Samantha Nicholas, 22, of Toronto.

She is wanted on a Bench Warrant for:

1) Assault With Weapon

She is described as 5’5", 131 lbs., with blonde hair and brown eyes. She has a pierced lower lip, pierced left nostril, and tattoos on her left middle toe and shoulder.

She is considered violent. If you see her, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Potential Sex Offender investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was sitting on a westbound subway train on the Bloor/Danforth line

- a man sat down next to her

- the man placed his hand on her lap, twice

- the man disembarked at Kipling station

He is described as 25 - 35, 5’10”, with brown hair in a ponytail. He was wearing beige pants, a black jacket, brown boots, and a beige baseball cap worn backwards. He was carrying a black computer bag.

Angela Wikamakis, 40, was last seen on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 9 a.m., in the Spadina Road and Dupont Avenue area.

She is described as 5’4”, stocky build. She has long brown hair and brown eyes.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Man, woman, arrested in human trafficking investigation, Photographs of man and woman released, Police believe there may be other victims

In November 2015, investigators from the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team began an investigation into a human trafficking occurrence.

It is alleged that:

- an 18-year-old woman was lured into prostitution and forced to provide sexual services by a man

- she was "given" to another man and woman who also forced her into prostitution

- she was forced to take pictures of herself in various stages of undress

- she was forced to post the pictures on backpages.com, advertising sexual services

- she was taken to several hotels and residences in the GTA, where she was forced to provide sexual services for clients

- the man and woman took all of the money she earned

- she was sexually assaulted by the man

- she was able to escape from them and contact police

On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, after a lengthy investigation, two Criminal Code search warrants were executed by members of the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team, along with the TPS Gun and Gang Task Force.

Denneil Morgan, 34, of Brampton, is charged with:

1) two counts of Trafficking in Persons
2) Exercising Control
3) Procuring
4) two counts of Receive Material Benefit from Services Provided
5) Sexual Assault
6) three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
7) Possession of Proceeds of Crime

Kiesha Shaunte Ripley, 23, of Brampton, is charged with:

1) two counts of Trafficking in Persons
2) Exercising Control
3) Procuring

They both appeared in court at Old City Hall, on Thursday, April 7, 2016, 10 a.m., room 114.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Carjacking investigation, Three boys arrested (14, 16, 17), Three others sought

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016, just before midnight, police responded to a carjacking in the Lawrence Avenue East/Scarborough Golf Club Road area.

It is alleged that:

- a 32-year-old woman parked her car in an underground garage

- as she was leaving her car, three boys attacked her and stole her car, along with personal possessions

- her car, along with the SUV they arrived in, fled the scene

She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles have since been recovered.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, two boys, 14 and 16, both of Toronto, were arrested.

They are each charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over ($5000)

The 14-year-old is additionally charged with:

1) Fail to Stop for Police
2) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
3) three counts of Fail to Attend Court
4) Fail to Comply with Recognizance

On Thursday, April 7, 2016, a 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested.

He is charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over ($5000)

They were are all scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

Those charged cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Investigators are currently seeking an additional three boys.

Sexual Assault Alert, Yonge Street/Charles Street West

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Thursday, March 25, 2016, at approximately 6 p.m., a 51-year-old woman was walking in the Charles Street West/Yonge Street area

- two men approached her, pushed her up against a wall, and sexually assaulted her

- she fought them off

- the men were yelling profanities at her before they fled

The first man is described as white, early 20s, 5’6”, with a thin build, sandy blonde hair, and scruffy facial growth. He was wearing a hunter-green pullover, a black zip-up jacket and canvas shoes.

The second man is described as white, early 20s, with a chubby build and dark-brown hair. He was wearing dark-blue jeans with a black bomber-style jacket with red plaid lining.

Investigators believe there were several people in the area who may have been made aware of the event, when the screaming and yelling began. Police are urging these people to come forward and report what they witnessed.

Christina Gallo McLean, 14, was last seen on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 11 a.m., in the Lawrence Avenue East and Midland Avenue area.

She is described as 5’4", slim build, dark-brown shoulder-length hair with red/blonde streak on the left side. She was last seen wearing a grey sweater and black pants.

It is reported that;

- on Friday, January 1, 2016, a man used a stolen bank card to withdraw money from an ATM kiosk in the Yonge Street and Bloor Street East area

- on Saturday, January 2, 2016, the same man used a stolen bank card to withdraw money from an ATM kiosk in the Overlea Boulevard and Thornecliffe Park Drive area

Police request assistance with Theft investigation, Sherbourne Street and Isabella Street area

On Friday, March 25, 2016, at approximately 11:20 a.m., police were called to the Sherbourne Street and Isabella Street area for a theft.

It is reported that:

- the owner secured their dog to a bench outside of a business at Sherbourne Street and Isabella Street

- the owner returned a short time later and noticed the dog had been taken

- the dog’s name is “Romeo” and is a white-and-brown Shih Tzu Poodle

- Romeo is 15 years old, weighs 4-5 pounds and was wearing a red multi-coloured sweater with a blue collar and brown leash

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying two men involved in a Kidnapping and locating a man believed to have been kidnapped.

On Friday, April 8, 2016, at 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a Kidnapping in the Hanna Avenue and Liberty Street West area.

It is reported that:

- a man was approached by two men wearing masks and body armour

- he was assaulted and forced into a car

- the two men then drove off with the victim

The victim is described as Asian, 5'8", 160 lbs., short black hair.

The first suspect is described as having olive skin, 5’10"-6’0". He was wearing an olive green shirt, police-style body amour and a black balaclava

The second suspect is described as having olive skin, approximately 5’10"-6’0", wearing police-style body armour and a balaclava.

The car is described as a black Porsche Cayenne SUV.

Police request help locating two men involved in shooting, Dowling Avenue and King Street West area

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance locating two men involved in a shooting.

On Saturday, April 9, 2016, at approximately 2:24 a.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting in the Dowling Avenue and King Street West area.

It is reported that:

- two men entered a building in the area

- they approached the door to an apartment

- they fired a number of shots through the door

- they fled the area, eastbound on Springhurst Avenue, in a vehicle

The first man is described as mid-20s, with a thin build, brown skin, 5’10”, all-black clothing, wearing a Gucci beanie-style head cover with red-and-green stripes, black hoodie, black coat, black pants.

The second man is described as late-20s, approximately 6’0”, light-black skin, medium build, scruffy beard, slim face with a slim nose.

If these men are located, do not approach. They are considered armed and dangerous. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 10:05 a.m., police received a call for a fire in Northwood Park, in the Sheppard Avenue East and Sentinel Road area

- attending officers discovered what appeared to be a body in a fire pit, with evidence of a recent fire

The deceased is yet to be identified.

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a Sexual Assault investigation and requesting the public’s assistance identifying the man wanted.

On Saturday, April 9, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for a sexual assault in the Parliament Street and Howard Street area.

It is reported that:

- a 52-year-old woman was in an elevator in an apartment building

- she was approached by a man

- the man displayed a handgun and directed the woman to leave the elevator

- she was forced to the stairwell where she was sexually assaulted

- the man fled the building

He is described as black, 20-25, 5’9”, medium build, wearing black jeans, grey hooded sweater, grey vest, dark toque, tan shoes and carrying a red knapsack.

Security camera images of the man are now released.

Police believe him to be armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach him. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Missing woman, Birchmount Rd and Lawrence Ave East area, Lucy Nanton, 83

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Lucy Nanton, 83, was last seen Friday, April 8, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., in the Birchmount Rd and Lawrence Avenue East area.

She is described as 5’9", 165 lbs, with shoulder-length black hair. She was last seen wearing purple sweatpants, and a pink and black sweater. She was possibly wearing eyeglasses.

Police have concerns for her safety as she was not dressed for the weather and she has Alzheimer’s.
