Missing man, King Street West and Dufferin Street area, John Lai, 25

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

John Lai, 25, was last seen on Friday, March 18, 2016, at 6:30 a.m., in the King Street West and Dufferin Street area.

He is described as 6’, 200 lbs, with short black hair and blond highlights. He was last seen wearing grey shorts and a grey hooded Nike or Puma sweater.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Public Safety Advisory, Mount Pleasant Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area, Break-and-Enter

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Break-and-Enter investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, March 18, 2016, at 12:40 a.m., a man entered a residence in the Mount Pleasant Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area

- the man was surprised by the homeowner, who saw him on the stairs leading to the second level of the residence

- the man made his way through the home and fled

- the man was seen getting into a newer-model dark-coloured Audi

The man is described as 5'8".

If any member of the public sees a suspicious person or vehicle in the area, please contact police immediately. The public are reminded to lock their doors and windows. If their residence has an installed alarm system, activate it even when at home.

Missing woman and daughter, Eglinton Avenue East and Birchmount Road area, Ashley Johnson, 27, and Nakita Johnson, 3

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman and her daughter.

Ashley Johnson, 27, and Nakita Johnson, 3, her daughter, have not been seen or heard from in approximately 1 month. They were last seen in the Eglinton Avenue East and Birchmount Road area.

Ashley Johnson is described as 5’10", approximately 190 lbs. She has long curly dark hair.

Police wish to locate Ashley to ensure that she and her daughter are well.

Police request assistance with Armed Robbery and Attempted Abduction investigation, Windermere Avenue and The Queensway area, Security camera images of van released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance locating persons involved in an Armed Robbery and Attempted Abduction investigation involving a firearm.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, March 18, 2016, at 12:24 p.m., a man was walking to his car in the underground parking lot of his condominium building in the Windermere Avenue and The Queensway area

- as he approached his car, he was attacked by at least two men, one of whom was pointing a handgun at him

- the men removed the man's jacket, which contained his iPhone 6 cell phone, and made a demand for his keys

- they then tried to force him into their vehicle

- at this point, the man hit the panic button on his key chain and began to yell for help

- by doing this, he was able to get the attention of another resident of the building, who started to yell at the attackers

- as a result, the men ran to their vehicle and fled the underground

The man called police. Officers attended a short while later. The man suffered abrasions to his neck as a result of the attack.

The vehicle is described as a dark-grey Toyota Sienna van, with Michigan licence plates.

Security camera images of the van have been released.

One of the unknown men is described as black with a light complexion, mid-twenties, clean-shaven, with sharp facial features.

Ilene MacDonald, 76, was last seen on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 4:30 p.m., in the Westmorland Avenue and Hallam Street area.

She is described as white, approximately 5’6”, 128 lbs., with short grey hair. She was driving a 2010, grey, four-door Hyundai Sonata.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Homicide #19/2016, Glendower Circuit

On Sunday, March 20, 2016, at approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting on Glendower Circuit, in the Birchmount Road/Finch Avenue East area.

Once on scene, police found a man with obvious signs of injury. He was taken to hospital and subsequently pronounced.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday, March 21, 2016.

The identity of the man, believed to be 20, is expected to be released after the post-mortem examination.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area to review their dash cams or security cameras.

Wanted: Purushothman Nadarajah in 2005 homicide, First-Degree Murder, YouTube video appeal

Homicide Detective Sergeant Stacy Gallant is appealing to the public to help find Purushothman Nadarajah, now 32, wanted in connection with the murder of Thanushan Jeyakumaran, 18, in January 2005.

Investigators are prepared to lay a First-Degree Murder charge once Nadarajah is located. Anyone who sees Nadarajah should not approach him. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Homicide investigators would like the public to share the video in their social networks, especially in the Tamil communities in Toronto; London, England; and Sri Lanka; where Nadarajah has connections.

Arrest in Sexual Assault and Robbery investigation, Lawrence Avenue East and Orton Park Road area, Eric Oliha, 35, faces nine charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Sexual Assault and Robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, a man attended a home in the Lawrence Avenue East and Orton Park Road area and committed a sexual assault and a robbery.

On Sunday, March 20, 2016, at 9 a.m., Eric Oliha, 35, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery
2) two counts of Sexual Assault with weapon
3) five counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Monday, March 21, 2016, 10 a.m.
