On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 2 p.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Detective Sergeant Joyce Schertzer updated the media on the investigation into Homicide #3/2016.

See previous release.

Detective Sergeant Schertzer released security camera footage which shows the victim arriving home, a number of cars pass by the victim's driveway pursued, shortly after, by the suspect.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Nadiya Salim, 22, was last seen on Monday, January 11, 2016, at 2 a.m., in the Danforth Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.

She has been missing for over three weeks and requires medication. Police are concerned for her health and safety.

Homicide #11/2016, 551 The West Mall

On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 7:12 p.m., police responded to a stabbing at the rear of 551 The West Mall.

It is reported that:

- once on scene, police located a man suffering from apparent stab wounds, without vital signs

- he was pronounced at the scene

He has not been identified.

Witnesses report seeing two men fleeing the scene.

Aaron Bourget, 33, was last seen on Wednesday, February 03, 2016, at 4:46 p.m., in the Dawes Road and Donora Drive area.

He is described as 6'4", medium build, with short, salt-and-pepper hair. He was last seen wearing khaki pants, a black jacket, glasses and carrying a black backpack.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Media advisory, Thursday February 4, 2016, noon, Toronto Police College, 70 Birmingham Street, Toronto Police Service welcomes 44 new recruits, Highest-ever percentages of female recruits

The Toronto Police Service is pleased to be hosting a graduation ceremony for 44 new police recruits on Thursday February 4, 2016, at the Toronto Police College, 70 Birmingham Street, starting at noon.

In attendance for this special occasion will be Toronto Police Services Board member Dr. Dhun Noria and Acting Chief Mike Federico.

The graduating class is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.

The class is comprised of 47.7% women, the highest-ever percentage of female recruits, and 34.1% visible minority members. A total of 93.2% successfully completed post-secondary education and 40.9% have previous military or policing experience. A total of 70.5% of the class speak a language other than English, including Afrikaans, American Sign Language, Arabic, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Creole, Croatian, Filipino, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Macedonian, Mandarin, Patois, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Spanish, Thai, Twi and Ukrainian. Of the 31 new recruits who speak a second language, 36.4% speak two or more languages other than English.

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) will kick off its annual Crime Prevention Campaign by raising the alarm over increasingly sophisticated scams that are defrauding victims of millions of dollars.

On Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the Toronto Centre Tax Services Office, Canada Revenue Agency, at 1 Front Street West, Chief Jeff McGuire, Niagara Regional Police Service, and President of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police; Deputy Chief James Ramer, Toronto Police Service; and Vince Pranjivan, Assistant Commissioner, Ontario Region, Canada Revenue Agency, will speak to the media.

Also in attendance will be representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other police services as well as campaign sponsors Accident Support Services International Ltd., Canadian Security Association, Central 1 Credit Union in cooperation with Credit Unions of Ontario, Humber School of Social and Community Services, Insurance Bureau of Canada, Interac Association, the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation, The Investment Funds Institute of Canada, and Trace Identified.

Fatal collision #9/2016, Birmingham Street at 21st Street

On Monday, February 1, 2016, at 10:33 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision on Birmingham Street at 21st Street .

It is reported that:

- an 88-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry, westbound on Birmingham Street

- a 33-year-old woman was driving a Honda CRV, westbound on Birmingham Street at 21st Street

- the Toyota sideswiped the Honda, then left the roadway, striking a house

The 88-year-old woman was pronounced at the scene.

Fatal collision #10/2016, Dundas Street West at Poplar Avenue

On Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 9:25 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Dundas Street West at Poplar Avenue.

It is reported that:

- a 31-year-old man was driving a private bus, northbound on Poplar Avenue, attempting to make a left turn to go westbound on Dundas Street West

- a 49-year-old woman was attempting to cross Dundas Street West, on the west side of Poplar Avenue

− the bus struck the woman

The 49-year-old woman was taken to hospital. On Tuesday, February 2, 2016, she succumbed to her injuries.

Missing man located, Dawes Road and Donora Drive area, Aaron Bourget, 33

Homicide #54/2015, Rosemarie Junor, 28, Update, Charges upgraded to First-Degree Murder

On Friday, December 11, 2015, at 2:55 p.m., police received a call for a stabbing at 66 Wellington Street West, at the Shoppers Drug Mart in the PATH system.

It is alleged that:

- the female suspect attended this location armed with a knife, and approached the victim inside the store

- the female suspect stabbed the victim without provocation, resulting in life-threatening injuries

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 8:30 p.m., the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced.

On Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at approximately 3:05 p.m., Rohinie Bisesar, 40, was arrested. She was charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Aggravated Assault
3) Carry Concealed Weapon

On Thursday, December 17, 2015, charges against Rohinie Bisesar, 40, were upgraded to Second-Degree Murder.

On Friday, December 18, 2015, the following charges against Rohinie Bisesar, 40, were stayed:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Aggravated Assault
3) Carry Concealed Weapon

On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, charges against Rohinie Bisesar, 40, were upgraded to First-Degree Murder.

She is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 29, 2016, 2 p.m., courtroom 111

Man wanted in firearm investigation, Justin Anthony Longshaw, 29

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a man wanted in a firearm investigation.

Justin Anthony Longshaw, 29, was last seen on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., in the Dundas Street West and Augusta Avenue area.

He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Call 9-1-1.

He is wanted on the following:

1. Assault
2. Carry concealed weapon
3. Careless use of firearm
4. Reckless discharge of firearm
5. Weapons dangerous
6. Unauthorized possession of firearm
7. Unauthorized possession of prohibited or restricted weapon
8. Possession of firearm knowing its possession is prohibited
9. two counts of Possession of firearm or ammo contrary to prohibition order
10. three counts of Fail to Comply Probation

He is described as 30-35, medium build, black cornrows, beard and moustache. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black shoes with white socks.

Super Bowl 50, Increased R.I.D.E. patrols, Sunday, February 7, 2016

Traffic safety continues to be a priority for the Toronto Police Service. On Sunday, February 7, 2016, Super Bowl 50 will take place.

There will be numerous R.I.D.E. patrols in operation throughout Toronto this weekend.

We remind everyone who will be driving to be responsible, plan ahead and make smart choices about your transportation.

Use of transit, designated drivers and taxi services are all excellent options for safe transportation. The Toronto Police Service is also encouraging citizens to assist police in the war against impaired driving by calling 9−1−1 if they believe another driver may be impaired.

The message is clear: DO NOT DRINK OR USE DRUGS AND DRIVE.

The Toronto Police Service seeks assistance with a Theft investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, January 22, 2016, a man stole a laptop and tablet from a business in the Rockcliffe Boulevard and Alliance Avenue area

The man is described as white, approximately 50, 5'10" - 6'0", and bald. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket, red shirt, black pants and black shoes.

The stolen property is:

- a silver-and-black Toshiba laptop
- a white 10” Samsung tablet with black case

Public Safety Alert, Assaults in the Brookbanks Park area, Update, Composite sketch released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a man involved in an Assault investigation.

See previous release.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, February 1, 2016, at approximately 1:30 p.m., man approached a 33-year-old woman, from behind, in the Brookbanks Park area

- the man assaulted the woman

- he then fled the area

It is further reported that:

- on Monday, February 1, 2016, at approximately 2 p.m., a man approached a 20-year-old woman, from behind, in the Brookbanks Park area

- the man assaulted the woman

- she then escaped and ran away

The man is described as black, in his 20s, approximately 5'6" - 5'9", with a skinny build. He was last seen on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, in the Brookbanks area, wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, green or grey pants and running shoes. He was also wearing a black fitted ski mask and black aviator-style sunglasses. A composite sketch of the suspect has been released.

Police are asking the public to be vigilant in this area of Brookbanks Park, from Valley Woods Drive and York Mills Road to Parkwoods Village Drive and Cassandra Boulevard.

Stephen Robinson, 53, was last seen on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at approximately 8:30 a.m., in the Queen Street West/Ossington Avenue area.

He is described as white, 6’2", 260 lbs., with straight grey hair. He was wearing a khaki army-style hat, a navy-blue sweater, blue jeans and navy-blue running shoes.

This is the latest instalment of 14 Division's "Fugitive Friday." We are looking for Pioguillermo Portocarrerocruces, 34, of Toronto.

He is wanted on the strength of a a Warrant in the First Instance for:

1. two counts of Assault
2. three counts of Assault Causing Bodily Harm
3. two count of Fail to Comply Probation

He is described as 5'7", 130 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police warn that he is considered violent. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.
