Missing man, Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area, Gregson Sitaram, 35

Police are seeking assistance locating a missing man.

Gregson Sitaram, 35, was last seen Sunday, January 31, 2016, at approximately 4 p.m., in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

He is described as 5’7”, 150 lbs. with balding brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing brown pants and a white top. He has a tattoo on the upper right side of his head and a spider tattoo over his left ear.

He is considered a danger to himself and others. If located do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately

Police seek assistance identifying man in Sexual Assault investigation, Wellesley subway station, Update, man arrested, Jesus Ramon Jorge Saavedra, 30, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, January 11, 2016, at approximately 10:40 a.m., a 36-year-old woman was seated on a southbound subway train as it approached Wellesley station

It is further alleged that:

- on Thursday, January 29, 2016, the Toronto Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen who had been travelling on the subway when he recognized the man police were seeking to have identified

- police attended and a man was taken into custody

Jesus Ramon Jorge Saavedra, 30, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Sexual Assault

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Friday, January 30, 2016.

Police believe there may be other victims and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Firearm discharge, Dundas Street West and Augusta Avenue area, Police request assistance with investigation

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with a firearm discharge investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a man discharged a firearm in the Dundas Street West and Augusta Avenue area

The suspect is described as 30-35, medium build, black cornrows, beard and moustache. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and black shoes with white socks.

This man should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach. Call 9-1-1.

Abhi Thakkar, 20, faces nine charges in Canada Revenue Agency scam, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in connection with a Canada Revenue Agency scam.

It is alleged that:

- a group made unsolicited phone calls to random people, purporting to be from the Canada Revenue Agency

- the recipients of the calls were told they were in arrears of their income tax, and were threatened with imprisonment if payment was not made immediately

- when the recipients agreed to pay, they were instructed to send money by way of a direct bank transfer

On Monday, January 25, 2016, police arrested Abhi Thakkar, 20, of no fixed address. He was charged with:

1) Fraud - Over ($5000)
2) three counts of Fraud - Under ($5000)
3) four counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
4) Laundering Proceeds of Crime

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Police are aware of victims in Ontario and Alberta, and believe there may be other victims across Canada.

Anyone who has transferred money to Abhi Thakkar is asked to contact police at 43 Division at 416-808-4300.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of these types of unsolicited phone calls.

When presented with a call of this type, ask the caller to provide a call-back number. End the call and contact other trusted family, relatives, or friends to verify the information you are being told.

Be wary of any requests for secrecy. Requests for secrecy are often a red flag and are used by suspects to prevent victims discovering the ruse.

If in doubt, contact your local police service or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Never send money as a result of an unsolicited phone call without first independently verifying the legitimacy of the request.

Personal injury collision #7/2016, Kennedy Road at Norcap Avenue

On Monday, February 1, 2016, at 3:20 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Kennedy Road at Norcap Avenue .

It is reported that:

- a 34-year-old man was driving a 2012 Honda Civic, northbound on Kennedy Road, approaching Norcap Avenue

- a 66-year-old man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet cube van, southbound on Kennedy Road, approaching Norcap Avenue

- the vehicles collided north of Norcap Avenue

The driver of the Honda, and a 28-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Public Safety Alert, Assaults in the Brookbanks Park area

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a man involved in an assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, February 1, 2016, a man approached a 20-year-old woman and a 33-year-old woman, from behind, in the Brookbanks Park area

- the man assaulted them both

- both women fled the area

The man is described as black, in his 20s, approximately 5'6" - 5'9", with a skinny build. He was wearing a grey, fitted hoodie sweatshirt, dark-blue jeans and running shoes. He was also wearing a black fitted ski mask and aviator-style sunglasses.

Police are asking the public to be vigilant in this area of Brookbanks Park, from Valley Woods Drive and York Mills Road to Parkwoods Village Drive and Cassandra Boulevard.

Fatal collision #8/2016, Woman, 53, faces 10 charges, Derrydown Road at Romfield Drive

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, at 2:30 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Derrydown Road at Romfield Drive .

It is alleged that:

- a 53-year-old woman was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, northbound on Derrydown Road at Killamarsh Road, attempting to negotiate a curve on the road

- the vehicle left the roadway, mounted the east curb, and struck a tree

- a 46-year-old man, a passenger in the rear of the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries

The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced.


The driver of the Nissan, Thi Ngo, 53, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death
2) Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm
3) Over 80 mgs care or control of a motor vehicle causing death
4) Over 80 mgs operation causing bodily harm
5) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
6) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm
7) Criminal negligence causing death
8) Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
9) Fail to stop at accident cause bodily harm
10) Fail to stop at scene of accident cause death

She is scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 10 a.m., courtroom 507.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating Shola Ajose, 22, of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, December 31, 2015, a man attended a home in the King Street West and Jameson Avenue area

- the man assaulted a 19-year-old woman

- the man fled the area

It is further alleged that:

- on Monday, January 18, 2016, a man attended a home in the King Street West and Jameson Avenue area

- the man assaulted a 19-year-old woman

- the man fled the area

Shola Ajose, 22, of Toronto, is wanted on a warrant for:

1) seven counts of Assault with a Weapon
2) Assault Bodily Harm
3) four counts of Assault
4) Weapons Dangerous
5) three counts of Utter Threats
6) two counts of Mischief Under

He is described as 5'9", 130 lbs., brown eyes and black hair.

Arrest in historic Sexual Assault investigation, Update, Ryan McCombe, 41, faces new charges, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an ongoing Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- in 2008, a then-13-year-old girl attended a private residence in the Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue area for math tutoring

- between June 2008 and September 2008, she was sexually assaulted by her tutor

It is now further alleged that:

- between September 2012 and October 2014, a then-16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue area while attending a private residence

On Monday, February 1, 2016, Ryan McCombe, 41, of Toronto, was re-arrested and charged with:

1) two counts of Sexual Assault
2) Sexual Exploitation
3) Possession of Child Pornography
4) Access Child Pornography
5) Making Child Pornography

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, February 1, 2016.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Homicides #8/2016 and #9/2016, Spadina Avenue and Nassau Street, Victim information released

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, at 3:15 a.m., police responded to the Spadina Avenue and Nassau Street area for a report of a shooting.

It is reported that:

- a group of men was involved in an altercation in the area of the intersection of Spadina Avenue and Nassau Street, on the west side of Spadina Avenue

- a suspect fired at the group, wounding five people

- one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, four were taken to hospital

- a second victim succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:45 a.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016

The victim of Homicide #8/2016 has been identified as David Eminess, 26, of Toronto.

The victim of Homicide #9/2016 has been identified as Quinn Taylor, 29, of Toronto.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area, who may have seen something, and ask they contact police. If anyone has video or images from the scene at the time of the shooting, they are also asked to call police.

Assistance sought with Sexual Assault investigation, Ryerson Avenue and Queen Street West area, Composite sketch released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 11:55 p.m., a woman, 25, was walking in the Ryerson Avenue and Queen Street West area

- a man grabbed the woman from behind and forced her into the Linda Griffith Laneway

- the suspect knocked the woman to the ground and sexually assaulted her

- the assault was interrupted by a passer-by

- the suspect fled the scene, westbound

The suspect is described as white, 30-40, 5'11", chubby build, approximately 250 lbs., with short ,wavy black or dark-brown hair, unshaven, with a large nose, wearing a dark, hooded sweater, dark-gray track pants and dark shoes.

Police are appealing to witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the assault to contact police.

A composite sketch of the suspect has been released.

Dixon Grove Junior Middle School and officers from 23 Division - Somali Liaison Neighborhood Unit are launching a new Hot Lunch Program partnership.

Every Wednesday, officers from the Somali Liaison Unit will attend and assist with the School's Hot Lunch Program. Officers will serve lunch to the students and liaise with the students in the cafeteria.

This outreach initiative will foster meaningful communication and positive dialogue between the students, the Toronto Police Service, parents and the school.

School principal Neil Quimby is offering a special invitation to the media to attend on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 11:15 a.m., at Dixon Grove Junior Middle School, to see first-hand what this initiative is all about. 23 Division Superintendent Ron Taverner will be in attendance to speak to media.

Employment workshop for Aboriginal Youth, Closing feast, Wednesday, February 3, 2016, 3 p.m to 6 p.m., Toronto Police Service Headquarters auditorium

On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, Toronto Police Service officers from the Employment Unit will be hosting a closing feast to wrap up a three-day employment workshop for Aboriginal youth.

Thanks to a partnership with Resume Target, a professional resume-writing service, Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training, ProAction Cops & Kids, and the Employment Unit of the Toronto Police Service, we were pleased to offer our knowledge and expertise to youth by providing access to career-related information, premium resume templates youth can customize, employment resources, and interview-preparation courses in an effort to help young people obtain a job that matches their interests and skills. The youth will also be attending a "Dress to Impress" workshop by Image North Consulting. All youth will receive a new professional outfit and makeover on the day of the feast.

Of the eleven youth who attended the workshop, nine applied to the Toronto Police Service Youth In Policing Initiative program.

ProAction Cops & Kids is a charity that supports programs, developed and delivered by police officers,to engage at-risk youth in our communities. ProAction believes that bringing cops and kids together in healthy, fun, skill-building activities creates mutual understanding and respect and establishes positive relationships that strengthen our community today and for the future.

Since inception, ProAction has reached close to 390,000 young people and supported over 15,000 police-initiated programs delivered throughout Toronto, Durham Region, Hamilton, and Niagara. Programs include a wide range of activities such as sports, camping, music, construction, cooking, leadership and cultural programs that allow young people with varied interests and skills to participate and benefit.

Through ProAction programs, police partners become mentors to participating youth and help guide them towards better life choices. ProAction programs allow officers to gain valuable insight on the daily issues youth face and enables them to intervene before youth become criminally involved. All ProAction programs are free of charge and focus on high priority neighbourhoods to ensure that those most in need have access to these programs.

A special thanks to TD Canada Trust who provided the funding to ProAction Cops & Kids, making this event possible.

Police request assistance with Firearm Discharge investigation, 111 Hickory Tree Road

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a Firearm Discharge investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, January 18, 2015 at 10:52 p.m., two men entered 111 Hickory Tree Road , via the front lobby

- once inside the lobby, the two men entered the elevator and went to the sixth floor

- one man fired a round through a locked apartment door

- the two men then fled down the stairwell

The first suspect is described as black, approximately 19-25, 5'8" - 5'10", 175 lbs., thin build and has thin goatee/moustache. He was wearing a white or silver puffy jacket, dark hoodie, dark pants and dark footwear.

The second suspect is described as black, 6'0", 19-25, with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants and dark footwear. He also had a covering across his face up to his nose, from ear to ear.

Police are appealing to the public and witnesses to come forward with any information. These men are considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach them. Dial 9-1-1.

Hanib Liban, 15, was last seen on Monday, February 1, 2016, at 10 p.m., in the Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.

She is described as black, 5'9", slim-to-medium build, 120 lbs., brown eyes, with long black hair past the shoulders. She was last seen wearing a yellow sweater, pink long-sleeved shirt, and blue-and-yellow pyjama pants.

Man, 32, arrested in bank robbery investigation

Police would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a bank robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, in the Sheppard Avenue East and Victoria Park Avenue area, a man entered a bank

- the man disguised his face with either a face mask or scarf

- the man passed the teller a note, stating it was a robbery and demanded money

- the man was given a quantity of money, which he placed in a bag

- the man then fled the area

It is further alleged that:

- on Thursday, January 21, 2016, in the Fairview Mall , a man entered a bank

- the man disguised his face with either a face mask or scarf

- the man passed the teller a note, stating it was a robbery and demanded money

- the man was given a quantity of money, which he placed in a bag

- the man then fled the area

On Tuesday, February 2, 2016, Hold Up officers arrested Blake Huntington, 32, of Toronto. He is charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery
2) two counts of Disguise with Intent
3) three counts of Careless Storage of Firearm
4) Careless Storage of Ammunition

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.

Police seek assistance identifying two men involved in Robbery, Yonge and Dundas Square, Security camera images released

Police are seeking assistance identifying two men involved in a robbery that took place in the Yonge and Dundas Street area.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, January 17, 2016, at 6:21 p.m., two men followed a 20-year-old man downstairs toward the subway station

- the 20-year-old man stopped on the stairs to send a text message on his cell phone

- one of the two men grabbed the 20-year-old man's cell phone out of his hands, then opened his jacket to reveal a knife

- one of the two men took the knife out of his pocket and told the 20-year-old man not to follow him

- both men fled the area

Security camera images of the two men have been released.
