Missing man, Nathan Kirshner, 22

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Nathan Kirshner, 22, was last seen on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 8:30 a.m., in the Dupont Street and Walmer Road area.

He is described as white, approximately 6’1”, 141 lbs., with short blonde hair. He was wearing grey T-shirt.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Florodel Capua, 40, was last seen on Tuesday, August, 4, 2015, at 5:30 p.m., in the Parliament Street and Wellesley Street East area.

He is described as 5’4", with a medium build, and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a grey sleeveless shirt, a grey jacket, and blue jeans.

On Friday, July 24, 2015, Michael Tomkiw, 33, of Toronto, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1) two counts of Assault
2) Unnecessarily cause injury/pain to animals – Cruelty to Animals
3) Mischief Under

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, July 25, 2015, room 101.

Homicide #32/2015, Kabil Abdulkhadir, 27

On Sunday, August 9, 2015, at approximately 2:45 a.m., police were called to the Bay Street/Dundas Street West area for the sound of gunshots.

Once on scene, police located a man with obvious injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man has been identified as Kabil Abdulkhadir, 27, of Toronto.

The investigation is still ongoing.

41 Division Reducing Collisions Campaign, Monday, August 10, 2015 to Sunday, August 16, 2015

The Toronto Police Service will continue to be diligent in education and enforcement strategies to enhance the safety of the public, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, within our communities. Increased enforcement during the 41 Division Reducing Collisions Campaign, will take place during the week of Monday, August 10, 2015 to Sunday, August 16, 2015.

Motorists are encouraged to obey all rules of the road and be aware of their surroundings. Motorists are also encouraged to slow down and they are encouraged to refrain from using any hand-held device that may distract then while driving.

High-accident locations and intersections will be targeted and see increased enforcement. The enforcement initiatives for community safety will also continue throughout the year.

All officers from 41 Division will pay particular attention to those motorists who run traffic lights and stop signs, commit offences at pedestrian crossovers and crosswalks and include turning offences, unsafe lane changes and speeding offences. Officers will also be concentrating on distracted driving and motorists using hand-held devices.

All motorists and pedestrians should also be encouraged to avoid using electronic devices, whenever they are on or near the roadways.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing woman.

Diana Hadgu Gebreyesus, 32, was last seen on Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the Queen Street East/Coxwell Avenue area.

She is described as 5'7", with a heavy build, and long black hair pulled back into a pony tail. She was wearing a red shirt, black jeans, black-and-red Nike shoes, and was carrying a black handbag. She may have been headed to the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Public Safety Alert, Lost medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of lost medication.

On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at 9:29 p.m., a quantity of medication was left in the trunk of a black taxi which travelled from the Mt. Pleasant Road and Davisville Avenue area to the Mt. Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.

The lost medication was in a bag and contained four morphine pills.

The pills could be harmful/fatal if ingested, especially to children.

Personal injury collision #37/2015, Meadowvale Road, near Sheppard Avenue East

On Sunday, August 9, 2015, at 9:12 p.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Meadowvale Road, near Sheppard Avenue East.

It is reported that:

− a 74-year-old man was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla, southbound on Meadowvale Road, approaching Sheppard Avenue East

− a 37-year-old man was attempting to cross Meadowvale Road, north of Sheppard Avenue East

− the man was struck by the Toyota

The 37-year-old man received life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Sexual Assault Alert, Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West area, Public assistance sought identifying man

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at approximately 3 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was walking in the Eglinton Avenue West/Bathurst Street area

- the woman was approached from behind by a man and sexually assaulted

The man is described as white, 5’8” with a muscular build, and short hair. He had a tattoo on right upper arm, and a gold chain on his pants.

Arrest in Voyeurism investigation, Adrian McCabe, 34, faces two charges, Police believe there may be other victims

On Sunday, August 9, 2015, at 4:28 pm, a member of the Toronto Police Service was on patrol in the Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue East area.

It is alleged that:

- police observed a man following a 20-year-old woman, on the sidewalk walking southbound, on Kennedy Road

- the man put a cellphone under the skirt of the woman in an attempt to take a photo or video

Adrian McCabe, 34, of Scarborough, was arrested at the scene. He was charged with:

1) two counts of Voyeurism

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 2 p.m., room 407.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Public assistance sought with Attempt Murder investigation, College Street and Crawford Street

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing Attempt Murder investigation.

On Saturday, August, 8, 2015, at 2:28 a.m., police responded to a shooting in the College Street and Crawford Street area.

It is alleged that:

- the 27-year-old man was walking on Crawford Street just north of College Street

- he was confronted by an unknown man who brandished a gun

- the 27-year-old man was shot multiple times

- the man fled the area and was last seen running towards Shaw Street

He is described as brown, 5'11"– 6', 220 lbs., heavy set, with long black hair tied up into a ponytail. He was wearing a white t-shirt, with dark baggy jeans.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police request assistance in a fail to remain personal injury collision at Yorkshire Road and Ranstone Gardens

On Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 6:52 p.m., police responded to a call for a fail to remain personal injury collision at Yorkshire Road and Ranstone Gardens.

It is reported that:

- a 39 year-old man was a passenger in a motor vehicle, which was westbound on Yorkshire Road

- the vehicle sideswiped a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, which was parked on the north side of Yorkshire Road, east of Ranstone Gardens

- after the collision, the vehicle made a right turn and proceeded northbound on Ranstone Gardens

- the passenger exited the vehicle while it was in motion, falling to the ground and suffering serious injuries

The driver and vehicle involved in this collision are being sought, the vehicle is described as a grey 4-door car, and will likely have damage to the right side.

On Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 9:12 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Meadowvale Road near Sheppard Avenue East .

It is reported that:

The 37 year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. On Monday, August 10, 2015, the man succumbed to his injuries.

The Toronto Police Service will be hosting the inaugural Women's PREP Challenge on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Toronto Police College.

This event will test the physical capabilities of the participants, with the intention of encouraging women to consider a uniform career with the Toronto Police Service.

The pre-selected participants will compete for the best times in the Police Readiness Evaluation For Police (PREP). The PREP is the physical component of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) certificate. The OACP certificate is one of the minimum requirements for applying to all Police Services in the Province of Ontario.
