Man arrested in unrelated event, Investigation revealed multiple robberies, Cody Fountain, 24, faces eight counts in Toronto

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in connection to a man wanted for multiple robberies.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, June 12, 2015, a man was arrested for fraudulently obtaining food and lodging

Upon further investigation, it was further alleged that:

- on Sunday, June 7, 2015, and Tuesday, June 9, 2015, the man robbed two convenience stores and a restaurant in the Carlton Street/Church Street area

- in each incident, he was armed with a large knife and made demands for money

- in addition, the man was wanted for robberies in Lindsay, Peterborough and Durham Region

Cody Fountain, 24, of Lindsay, is charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery
2) three counts of Weapons Dangerous
3) Fraudulently Obtain Food and Lodging
4) Obstruct Police Officer

He was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Old City Hall, in courtroom 111.

Missing man, Alemayehu Mamo Jifar, 54

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Alemayehu Mamo Jifar, also known as Alex Alexander, 54, was last seen on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

Alemayehu Mamo Jifar is described as 5'8", 200 lbs., heavy build with a shaved head.

Police are concerned for his safety as he is considered a danger to himself and others.

If located do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately.

Missing man located, Nicholas Sofia, 19

Robbery, Avenue Road and Bloor Street West

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public assistance in locating a man involved in a robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, June 15, 2015, at 10:45 p.m., a 30 year-old woman was in a parking lot in the Avenue Road and Bloor Street West area

- an unknown man approached the woman, threatened her and made a demand for money

- the woman's boyfriend arrived and chased the man away

- he was last seen running north on Avenue Road

He is described as dark skinned, 5'6" to 5'8", 130 to 140 lbs., slim build and has short dark brown hair. He was wearing a purple collared short-sleeve golf shirt, dark coloured shorts, and light coloured running shoes.

Police Request Assistance with a Break and Enter and Sexual Assault Investigation, Spadina Avenue and College Street

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing Break and Enter and Sexual Assault investigation in the area of Spadina Avenue and College Street.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a 27-year-old woman was awakened by an unknown man in her apartment

- the woman was sexually assaulted by the man

- the man fled the area

He is described as white, late 20's, 5'7"-5'10", medium build, short brown hair and is unshaven.

Wai Yu Chung, 26, was last seen on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 8:15 a.m., in the Market Street and Lower Jarvis Street area.

He is described as Asian, 5'7", 150 lbs., slim build, short black short and has brown eyes.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Ilijah Cavar, 73, was last seen on Monday, June 16, 2015, at 4:40 p.m., in the Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area.

He is described as white, 5'8", 170 lbs., short grey and black hair, beard and moustache. He was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Personal injury collision #25/2015, Martin Grove Road near Royalcrest Road

On Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 5:24 p.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Martin Grove Road near Royalcrest Road.

It is reported that:

- a 33-year-old woman was attempting to cross Martin Grove Road south of Royalcrest Road

- a 21-year-old man was driving a 1999 Audi A4 southbound on Martin Grove Road

- the woman was struck by the Audi

The woman was taken to hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police seek publics assistance in identifying man involved in robbery investigation, 5095 Yonge Street, Security Camera Images Released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man involved in a robbery investigation.

It is reported:

- on Monday, June 15, 2015, at 6:30 p.m, a man entered a Loblaws store located at 5095 Yonge Street

- the man took multiple items and did not pay for the items

- security followed the man out of the store

- security approached the man

- the man then brandished a knife towards the officer

- the officer backed away and was not injured

- the man fled the area, possibly heading towards the subway

The man is described as light-skinned black, 45 to 50 years old, 5'8", medium build and has short curly dark receding hair. He was wearing a black windbreaker jacket, a dark checkered dress shirt, black pants and was wearing glasses.

Police are advising the public to not approach this man, but to contact police if he is seen.

The Toronto Police Service's 11 Division Crime Prevention Officers have teamed up with Aagen Community Center, Mac's Convenience Stores and Graffiti Artist, MagicFinnga Wong, to complete a StreetART mural on the McCormick Park Shipping Container Cafe.

The McCormick Park StreetART Mural initiative works to create strategic partnerships in an effort to help prevent crime and strengthen community relationships, while working diligently towards a community-based shared responsibility. Engaging the community, especially the youth, will only empower them to develop a stronger ability to make a positive difference.

The forward-thinking concept was introduced in an attempt to eliminate ongoing graffiti tagging within the park; but also assist in the beautification of the park and surrounding community.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 6 p.m., at McCormick Park, 66 Sheridan Avenue, the unveiling ceremony will be held.

Arrests made in a series of Robberies, One man and one young person charged

On Monday, June 15, 2015, Hold Up officers charged a man and a young person with robbery offences.

Between Tuesday, June 2, 2015 and Friday, June 12, 2015, near Eglinton Avenue East and McCowan Road, two pharmacies and a restaurant were robbed.

It is alleged that:

- during the robberies, a man entered the premises, concealing his identity with a mask and sunglasses

- he displayed a handgun and made a demand for either cash or drugs

It is further alleged that:

- in one of the pharmacy robberies, the girl accompanied the man

- the girl surveilled the location prior to the robbery

- the girl then assisted the man during his escape after the robbery

On Monday, June 15, 2015, following an unrelated incident, the man and girl were arrested.

James Kenneth West, 36, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery while Armed with Firearm
2) three counts of Disguise with Intent
3) three counts of Fail to Comply Probation
4) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
5) two counts CDSA Possession of a Controlled Substance

He appeared in count at Old City Hall on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, room 103.

17-year-old girl, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery while armed with Firearm
2) Possession of Property obtained by Crime
3) CDSA Possession of a Controlled Substance

She appeared in court at 311 Jarvis on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

Sexual Assault Alert, Martin Bartholomew, 53, facing four charges, Photograph released, Police believe there may be more victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- from December 2014 to Friday, June 5, 2015, a man was communicating with a 13-year-old student

It is further alleged that:

- between Sunday, May 10, 2015 to Friday, June 5, 2015, the 13-year-old student was sexually assaulted by the same man during school hours

On Tuesday, June 16, 2015, Martin Bartholomew, 53, of Mississauga, was arrested. He was charged with:

1) two counts of Assault
2) Sexual Assault
3) Sexual Interference

Martin Bartholomew was an employee of Greenholme Junior Middle School located at 10 Jamestown Crescent, where he has worked for approximately fifteen years.

Police believe that there may be more victims as he had access to many children at the school. His photograph has been released.

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West Courts on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, room 206.

Elliada Araujo, 31, was last seen on Wednesday, June 18, 2015, in the Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue area.

She is described as 5'5", 160 lbs., medium build with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a long brown dress, black sandals and a backpack.

Police have concerns for her safety.

Arrests in series of violent street robberies, Lyall Avenue and Hannaford Street, Queen Street East and Jones Avenue, Five boys charged

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an investigation into a series of violent robberies in the east end of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, June 1, 2015, at approximately 4:35 p.m., a large group of boys approached two boys in the Lyall Avenue and Hannaford Street area

- the large group of boys made a demand for the victim's property and made a threat of violence

- an altercation ensued and one of the boys suffered a stab wound

- the large group of boys fled the scene with the victim's skateboard

It is further alleged that:

- on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at approximately 2 p.m., another robbery occurred in the Queen Street East and Jones Avenue area

- the group of boys surrounded another boy and robbed him of his backpack and shoes, while wearing knives on their waists

On Monday, June 15, 2015, four boys were arrested.

A 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery
2) three counts of Carry Concealed Weapon
3) Aggravated Assault
4) Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
5) Assault with a Weapon
6) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

A 13-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Robbery

A 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Robbery

A 16-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery

The four boys appeared court at 311 Jarvis Street on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2015, one boy was arrested.

A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery
2) Carry Concealed Weapon

He appeared in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

The names of the Young Persons cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
