Parking Enforcement Officer instrumental in Fail-to-Remain collision arrest, Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue

On Saturday, May 16, 2015, Parking Enforcement Officer Franci Pongracic was working night shift in 55 Division.

At 2:11 a.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Queen Street East, east of Broadview Avenue.

It is alleged that:

− a vehicle driven by a man struck a woman attempting to cross the street

- the vehicle that failed to remain at the scene of the collision was broadcast on the radio band which PEO Pongracic was monitoring

- a short time later, he observed that same vehicle, with major damage to the windshield, drive past him

- PEO Pongracic advised the dispatcher

- several officers attended and arrested the male driver

Man, 24, arrested in Sexual Assault investigation, Morningside Avenue and Ellesmere Road area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Sexual Assault and Robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 2 a.m., a 38-year-old woman was sexually assaulted inside an apartment in the Morningside Avenue and Ellesmere Road area

- the woman had her property stolen

- the woman was able to flee and contact police

Rahman Faheem, 24, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Forcible Confinement
2) Robbery
3) Sexual Assault

The appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, May 17, 2015, room 101, 10 a.m.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Nitiyanand Gary Singh, 23, was last seen on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 11:50 p.m., in the Danforth Road and Trudelle Street area.

He is described as having brown eyes, with black curly hair, a moustache and a beard.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Public Safety Alert, Stolen medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of stolen medication.

Between Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 3 p.m., and Monday, May 25, 2015, at 9 a.m., a container in a black nylon zippered bag containing 13 different prescription medications and eye drops was stolen in the Yonge Street and Church Street area.

The pills and capsules could be harmful or fatal if ingested, especially to children.

Traffic fatality #22/2015, Don Mills Road and Green Belt Drive

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating witnesses in a fatal collision investigation.

On Friday, May 22, 2015, at 8:24 a.m., police responded to a call for a pedestrian-struck collision at Don Mills Road and Green Belt Drive .

It is reported that:

- a 48-year-old woman was driving a black Saturn northbound on Don Mills Road

- a 26-year-old woman was driving a silver Audi, southbound on Don Mills Road, making a left turn to Green Belt Drive

- both vehicles collided

- the Saturn left the roadway, striking a 45-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy

- the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene and the boy was taken to hospital

Police seek public assistance identifying man wanted in Mischief to Property investigation, Bloor Street and Bay Street

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man wanted for Mischief to Property.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, May 22, 2015, at 2:38 p.m., a man walked by the Capezio Store at Bloor Street and Bay Street

- the man took a steel cable and used it to break the store window

The man is described as white, middle age, 5'9", 160 lbs., short brown hair and clean-shaven. He was wearing a waist-length black jacket with shirt underneath and baggy blue jeans.

Sexual Assault Alert, Jarvis Street and Carleton Avenue area

On Monday, May 25, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for a sexual assault in the Jarvis Street and Carleton Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- a 42-year-old woman was walking

- she was grabbed from behind by a unknown man

- the woman was sexually assaulted

The man is described as white, 40-50, 6'0", heavy build, scar on left cheek, shoulder-length brown hair, goatee and mustache. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans and is possibly driving a light-coloured SUV.

Missing woman, Regina Vinayagarasa, 68

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Regina Vinayagarasa, 68, was last seen on Monday, May 25, 2015, at 7:30 a.m., in the Empringham Drive and Sewells Road area.

She is described as having a brown complexion, 5'2", approximately 150 lbs., and has dark shoulder-length hair. She was last seen wearing a long-sleeved purple blouse, purple skirt, and glasses.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Police request assistance with Robbery investigation, Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue, Update, Description of four male suspects, aged 14-17

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying and locating witnesses in a Robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 9 p.m., a taxi stopped on Chaplin Crescent, just west of Yonge Street, in front of Davisville subway station

- four male passengers exited the taxi

- the four boys assaulted the taxi driver while stealing a quantity of cash

The four boys are described as:

#1: white, 14-17, wearing a blue LA Dodgers baseball hat, dark T-shirt with white horizontal stripes on the front and dark pants

#2: brown, 14-17, wearing Oakland Raiders baseball hat, and blue long-sleeved shirt

#3: white, 14-17, wearing burgundy Phillies baseball hat, and burgundy T-shirt

#4: white, 14-17, dark hair, wearing a baseball hat

Sexual Assault Alert, Man arrested in historic Sexual Assault investigation, Juan Moran, 45, facing 15 charges, Photograph released, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a historic Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- from 1990 to 2010, a man sexually assaulted girls and women in the Toronto area

- the victims were between five and 35 at the time of the assaults

On Saturday, March 30, 2013, Juan Moran, then-45, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:

1) Seven counts of Sexual Assault
2) Five counts of Sexual Interference
3) Sexual Exploitation
4) Invitation to Sexual Touching
5) Forcible Confinement

Recent developments in the investigation have led police to believe there may be other victims. It was also reported that drugs may have been used to carry out one of the sexual assaults.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 8 a.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Chief Mark Saunders will welcome Michael “Pinball” Clemons of the Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation and accept and launch a friendly challenge between the Toronto Police Service and Hamilton Police Service to Cram-A-Cruiser! This challenge is part of the upcoming JUST GIVE campaign and will see police from the two Services collect food donations from area schools, and be a part of JUST GIVE by giving back to the communities each serves.

The challenge will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, when the Toronto Police Service and Hamilton Police Service will compete against each other to collect and deliver the most food donations they can to each city’s respective food banks.

The conference will be available on Bell TOC, and live-streamed on YouTube.
