In celebration of Police Dog Services' 25th anniversary, members of the public are invited to meet the police officers and their dogs at an Open House on Saturday, October 18, 2014.

The free event, at the Police Dog Services facility at 44 Beechwood Drive, runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The family-friendly event will give adults and children alike the opportunity to meet the police officers and the dogs who patrol the city, each day, as well as tour their facility.

There will be three live demonstrations at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on how Toronto Police dogs are used in the field in search of people, drugs or explosives.

Food and beverages will also be served.

Established in 1989, Police Dog Services occupies a six-acre facility sandwiched between the Don Valley Parkway and the Don River, where the dogs and their handlers train and are dispatched for duty.

The unit comprises 32 canine members.

Please, do not bring any family pets.
