On Monday, June 2, 2014, the Toronto Police Service posted a news release which explained how 55 Division had launched an appeal on social media for donations of prom dresses for girls who couldn't afford to buy a dress.

The response was enormous, so much so that a second event is being held tonight. Girls are invited to go to The Ten Spot Beauty Bar,1402 Queen Street East, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., to pick a prom dress.
Constable Rob McDonald, who started the campaign, said, "The response from the community has been amazing. We are grateful to everyone who has taken part."
