On Sunday, June 1, 2014, at 7:13 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Eglinton Avenue East, east of Midland Avenue.
It is reported that:
- a man, 19, was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla and was exiting a private driveway on the north side of the roadway, attempting to make a left turn to go eastbound on Eglinton Avenue East
- a man, 87, was standing in the centre common lane separating the eastbound and westbound traffic
- as the Toyota made the left turn, the man was struck by the vehicle
The man, 87, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
