The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests in a theft investigation.
It is alleged that:
- the three accused would attend various stores from Durham Region to London, Ontario
- once inside the stores, items would be selected and concealed under their clothing or carried straight out of the store.
- approximately $200,000 worth of electronics and clothing were stolen over the last seven months.
On Sunday, March 23, 2014, police executed search warrants at the accuseds' address. An estimated $100,000 worth of retail merchandise was recovered. Two men and one woman were arrested.
Piotr Ruta, 53, of Toronto; Jan Brzezinski, 57, of Toronto; Barbara Brzezinska, 58, of Toronto, have each been charged with:
1) Theft under x 2
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over
3) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under
