The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest following an undercover drug investigation.
It is alleged that:
- on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an undercover Toronto Police Drug Squad officer purchased a quantity of crack cocaine within a man's car
- when the transaction was complete, another officer approached the driver's side door and attempted to arrest the man
- the man fled with the undercover officer still inside his car
- the man drove his car into pursuing officers' cars, causing damage to police cars
- the man eventually lost control of his car, mounted a curb, crashed into a signpost, and fled on foot
Following a short foot pursuit, officers arrested Clarinton Kong, 32, of Toronto. He is charged with:
1) Traffic in Cocaine
2) Possession of Proceeds of Crime
3) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
4) Possession of Marijuana - under
5) Escape Lawful Custody
6) Fail to Stop for Police (flight)
7) Dangerous Driving
8) Assault Peace Officer with a weapon (motor vehicle)
9) Forcible Confinement
10) Fail to Stop After Accident
11) Assault
12) Escape Lawful Custody
He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 10 a.m.
It is alleged that:
- on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an undercover Toronto Police Drug Squad officer purchased a quantity of crack cocaine within a man's car
- when the transaction was complete, another officer approached the driver's side door and attempted to arrest the man
- the man fled with the undercover officer still inside his car
- the man drove his car into pursuing officers' cars, causing damage to police cars
