The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Gashawbeza Kefene, 36, was last seen on Monday, June 15, 2020, in the Yonge Street and Dundas Street area.

He is described as 5'9", 170 lbs., with a medium build. He has short black curly hair, brown eyes and a beard.

If seen, do not approach and call 9-1-1.

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest in a distribution of child pornography investigation.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, Sex Crimes – Child Exploitation Section, executed a search warrant in the area of Lawrence Avenue West and Yonge Street.

It is alleged that:

- a man accessed, possessed, and made available child sexual abuse material​

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, Robert Smith, 55, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. two counts of Distribution of Child Pornography
2. three counts of Possession of Child Pornography
3. three counts of Access Child Pornography

He appeared in court at College Park on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

Child Pornography Investigation, Man faces multiple charges, William Robert Woods, 30

On Thursday June 11, 2020, members of the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation Section executed a search warrant in the Albert Street and Liberty Street area of Bowmanville, in Durham Region.

It is alleged that:

- a man uploaded videos of child pornography to a social media platform
- the man used the name "John Carpainter"

William Robert Woods, 30, of Bowmanville, was arrested and has been charged with:

1.Two counts of Possess child pornography
2. Two counts of Access child pornography
3. Make child pornography available

Arrest Made In Robbery Investigation, Bathurst Street And Eglinton Avenue West Area, Adam Hossny, 25

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a robbery investigation.

It is reported alleged that:

- on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at approximately 10 p.m., two men met to complete an online sale in the Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West area of Toronto.

- one man, who acted as a buyer via an online classified advertising service, arranged to meet the other man via text message

- the two men met in a parking lot where they spent approximately an hour speaking about the purchase of the product. During this time, the one man took a picture of the other’s driver’s licence

- the one man subsequently robbed the other with a 12-inch kitchen knife

- the man then immediately sent a text message to the victim with a picture of the victim's licence

- he then threatened him not to contact police or have the phone blacklisted or else he knows where he lives

On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, members of 53 Division Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant and arrested Adam Hossny, 25, of Toronto.

He has been charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Theft Under
3) Extortion
4) Two counts of Uttering Threats
5) Fraud

He is scheduled to appear at College Park, room 507, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be other victims.

He was last seen wearing a green and black hooded sweater, tan coloured pants, and grey running shoes.

Assistance in identifying deceased woman, Dundas Street West and Crawford Street area, Artist's rendition released

The Toronto Police service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a deceased woman.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at approximately 1:20 a.m. a deceased woman was located in the Dundas Street West and Crawford Street area.

Ontario Pathologist’s office, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, undertook to create an artist’s rendition of the woman in the hopes that someone might recognize her and bring some resolution for her family and the investigation.

Arrest made in Human Trafficking Investigation, Steve Coelho, 38, Police concerned there may be more victims

The Toronto Police Service Human Trafficking Enforcement Team would like to advise the public of an arrest in a Human Trafficking investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a twenty-year-old woman met a man on social media and began an intimate relationship

- the man introduced the woman to an escort agency and encouraged her to work in the sex industry

- while working in the sex industry the man controlled all of her earnings and profited from the money she earned

- the woman attempted to leave the agency but the man refused to allow her to quit

- the man applied for bank accounts and credit cards under her name which he used to purchase luxury items

On Monday, June 15, 2020, investigators from the Toronto Police Sex Crimes-Human Trafficking Enforcement Team executed two search warrants in Toronto and Steve Coelho, 38, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Advertising Another Person's Sexual Services
2. Material Benefit From Sexual Services
3. Forge or Falsify A Credit Card
4. Fraud Exceeding $5000/Specific Victim
5. Uttering Threats
6. Harassment By Repeated Communication with Person
7. Fail to Comply with Probation

He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

Police are concerned there may be more victims.

Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report Human Trafficking occurrences to police. We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.

Arrest made in Sexual Assault Investigation, Queen Street West and Bathurst Street area, Richard Kenneth Smith, 52

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- On Saturday, June 6, 2020, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a woman was walking eastbound on Queen Street West at Bathurst Street area

- a man engaged in conversation with the woman

- the man sexually assaulted the woman

- the man continued to follow the woman until police were called


Richard Kenneth Smith, 52, was arrested on Thursday, June 18, 2020. He has been charged with:

1. one count of Sexual Assault
2. two counts of Uttering Threats
3. one count of Criminal Harassment
4. two counts of Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance

He will appear in court on Friday, June 19, 2020, at 10 a.m., Old City Hall courts, room 101.

Theft Investigation, Royal York Avenue and the Queensway area, Images Released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a child’s motorized car.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a theft occurred in the Royal York Avenue and The Queensway area.

It is reported that:

- a woman and a child went to the No Frills grocery store near the area of Royal York Avenue and The Queensway

- they left a green motorized child’s racing car parked in front of the store

- another woman exited the store and placed the toy car into her motor vehicle and drove off

The toy was a recent present for the child’s birthday. The Toronto Police Service is looking for assistance in returning the child’s toy to their owner.

Indecent Exposure Investigation, Danforth Village and Birchcliff Communities, Man Arrested

A man has been arrested following two reports of indecent exposure in the Danforth Village and Birchcliff area.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 4:20 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for an indecent exposure in the Victoria Park Avenue and Gerrad Street East, area.

It is alleged that:

- a man was standing on the sidewalk watching children who were playing in the front yard of homes

- the man was indecently exposing himself

Further investigation revealed a separate incident had occurred on Monday, June 1, 2020, in the Kingston Road and Warden Avenue, area.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2020, John Vosu, 39, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1. Commit an Indecent Act in a Public Place
2. Two counts of Expose Genitals to a Person under 16 years of age for a sexual purpose

He was scheduled for a bail hearing on Friday, June 19, 2020, at College Park, at 10 a.m., room 507.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

Homicide #25/2020, Tower Drive and Brian Avenue area, Update Man arrested, Daniel Boima, 23

The Toronto Police Service would like to update the public on homicide investigation and continue to appeal for public assistance.

On Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 10:42 p.m., police responded to a shooting call in the Tower Drive and Brian Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man was shot

- the victim was transported to hospital and was pronounced deceased

The victim was identified as Daniel Boima, 23, of Toronto.

On Friday, June 19, 2020 members of the Toronto Police Service executed three search warrants - two in Scarborough and one in Oshawa. As a result, Joshua Johnson, 20, of Toronto was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1. Second Degree Murder

He is scheduled to appear at court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 9 a.m.

The investigation into identifying at least one other outstanding suspect continues.
