Person with a knife arrested, Bathurst Street and King Street West area

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an incident that took place in the Bathurst Street and King Street West area.

On Sunday, April 12, 2020, at 6:09 p.m., police responded to reports of a knife point robbery in the area of Bathurst Street and King Street West.

Officers located a man on scene wielding a knife who was subsequently arrested. The man and an officer
were taken to hospital with injuries. The Special Investigations Unit was notified and have now invoked their mandate.

The area of Bathurst Street and King Street West is closed due to the ongoing investigation.

Russell Everett Williams, 62, was last seen on Tuesday, March 30, 2020, at approximately 9 a.m., in Weston Road and Fenmar Drive area.

He is described as 5'11”, 180 lbs., slim build, with brown eyes, short black hair, and facial hair.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Identity sought of man in robbery investigation, Danforth Avenue and Coxwell Avenue area, Images released

The Toronto Police Service requests the public’s assistance identifying a man as part of a robbery investigation.

On Saturday, April 11, 2020, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a man entered a pharmacy in the Danforth Aveunue and Coxwell Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- the man stole a quantity of items from the pharmacy and assaulted the staff to escape

- the man attended the pharmacy parking lot and then attacked a woman, attempting to rob her purse

- the woman sustained minor injuries

The man is described as being 6'1", large build, approximately 250 lbs., 30 to 40, with a short black afro, and a full black beard.

He was wearing a black hooded coat, black track pants with white stripes, grey shoes, and a black backpack.

Police seek public's assistance in sexual assault investigation, St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Street area, Images released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in a sexual assault investigation.

On Monday, March 2, 2020, at approximately 12 p.m., a 21-year-old woman was in the area of St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Street.

It is reported that:

- the woman was approached by a man

- the man began punching the woman in the face and head

- the man sexually assaulted the woman

- people in the area ran to help the woman

- the man fled and was last seen entering the St. Clair Subway Station


The man is described as 5'7", 170 to 180 lbs., with a long black and grey beard. He was wearing a dark blue winter coat with a fur lined hood, dark-coloured jeans and dark-coloured shoes.

Police seek public's assistance in sexual assault investigation, Fairbank Memorial Park, Image released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in a sexual assault investigation.

On Friday, April 10, at 8:45 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for a sexual assault at the Fairbank Memorial Park.

It is reported that:

- a woman was jogging in Fairbank Memorial Park

- at approximately 8:00 p.m. she was approached by a man and sexually assaulted

- the man was last seen walking in the park towards Dufferin Street.

He is described as a 50 to 60, 5”6” - 5’7”, approximately 190 lbs, grey hair with a receding hairline and a moustache. He was last seen wearing brown pants, a blue and white plaid jacket, a black hoody and running shoes.

Identity sought of man in Threatening investigation, Bathurst Street and Fork York Boulevard area, Image released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man involved in a threatening investigation.

On Monday, March 23, 2020 at approximately 10:17 a.m., TTC Special Constables responded to a threatening call in the Bathurst Street and Fort York Boulevard area.

It is reported that:

- a man got on the north bound TTC Bathurst streetcar

- TTC fare inspectors spoke with the man regarding fare payment at which time he produced a knife and confronted the employees

- the man eventually exited the TTC streetcar in the Bathurst Street and Niagara Street area

The man is described as 6' ft tall, medium build, wearing a red hooded jacket, black button up shirt, blue jeans, brown shoes, and had black over-ear style headphones.

Two Men Arrested for Two Retail Robbery Investigations, Kyle Edward Francis, 22, and Christopher Briscoe, 30,

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of two arrests made as part of an investigation into two jewellery store robberies.

Between Wednesday, February 5, 2020, and Wednesday, February 12, 2020, two jewellery store robberies took place in the Bayview Avenue and Bayview Mews Lane area and the Eglinton Avenue West and Avenue Road area.

It is alleged that:

- a man entered a store and walked around pretending to be a customer

- the man pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed a store employee

- the man then pulled out a hammer and used it to smash several glass display cases

- the man removed a large quantity of watches before fleeing the store – approximately $1,000,000 in total value

- another man waited nearby in a car and they both fled in the car

Hold Up Squad investigators determined the identity of two men and they were located.

On Friday, March 6, 2020, Christopher Briscoe, 30, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. two counts of Robbery
2. two counts of Administer Noxious Thing with Intent
3. two counts of Possession of a Weapon
4. Mischief to Property

He was scheduled to appear in court 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 2 p.m., in room 306.

On Thursday, April 9, 2020, Kyle Edward Francis, 22, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. two counts of Robbery
2. two counts of Administer Noxious Thing with Intent
3. two counts of Possession of a Weapon

He was scheduled to appear in court 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at 2 p.m., in room 306.

Man and Woman Arrested for Three Retail Robberies and Two Retail Thefts, Gerald Baker, 25 and Chatima Powless, 37

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of two arrests made in relation to three retail robberies and two retail thefts.

Between Monday, March 16, 2020, and Friday, April 3, 2020, three retail store robberies and two retail store thefts were committed at LCBO locations across the Toronto area.

It is alleged that:

- a man and woman entered the LCBO stores

- the man and woman took numerous bottles of liquor off the shelves and filled-up large hockey equipment bags that they brought with them

- the man was armed with a large knife that he waved around at store employees and threatened them

- in one of the incidents, a store Security Officer was cut on the hand by the knife

Hold Up Squad investigators, with the assistance of 51 Division Major Crime Unit, determined the identity of the man and woman and located them.

On Saturday, April 11, 2020, Gerald Baker, 25, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. two counts of Disguise with Intent
3. two counts of Possession of a Weapon
4. two counts of Carry Concealed Weapon
5. Uttering Threats
6. Theft Under
7. two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
8. four counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
9. six counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10 a.m., room 101.


On Saturday, April 11, 2020, Chatima Powless, 37, of Toronto was arrested. She is charged with:

1. Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. two counts of Theft Under
3. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence

She was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10 a.m., room 101.

Avraham Mula, 26, was last seen on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at approximately 11 a.m., in Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East area.

He is described as 5'9", thin build, 160 lbs., short black hair, with a beard.

He was last seen wearing a green jacket, dark jeans, white shirt, and white Nike shoes. He walks with a noticeable limp to his right leg.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Homicide #22/2020, 42 Howard Drive, Dr. Paul Morgan, 79

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a homicide investigation.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers responded to sudden death call at 42 Howard Drive.

It is reported that:

- officers attended and located a deceased man inside the address

- the man had obvious signs of trauma and could not be identified at the time

The Homicide Unit took carriage of the investigation.

A post-mortem examination was completed on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, and the deceased has since been identified as Dr. Paul Morgan, 79, of Toronto.

His image has been released.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who had contact with Dr. Morgan leading up to, and over, the Easter long weekend (Friday, April 10 to Monday, April 13, 2020).

Man Arrested in Three Retail Robbery Investigations, Rui Bolarinho, 27

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in three retail robbery investigations.

Between Wednesday, March 25, 2020, and Wednesday, April 1, 2020, three convenience retail store robberies occurred in the Dufferin Street and College Street and Dundas Street West and Dufferin Street area.


It is alleged that:

- a man entered the stores while attempting to conceal his identity with a mask

- the man approached the checkout counter and made a demand for cash

- the man then assaulted the store employees

- the man obtained cash from the stores before fleeing the area on a bicycle

Hold Up Squad investigators determined the identity of the man.


On Thursday, April 9, 2020, Rui Bolarinho, 27, of no fixed address was arrested. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery
2. three counts of Disguise with Intent
3. Uttering Threats
4. two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday, April 10, 2020, at 10 a.m., in room 101.

Man Arrested in Two Retail Robberies Investigations, Miguel Vaughn Dyer, 46

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest in two retail robbery investigations.

On Saturday, April 11, 2020, two convenience retail store robberies took place in the Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East area and Danforth Avenue and Warden Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man entered the stores while attempting to conceal his identity with a mask

- the man approached the checkout counter and made a demand for cash

- the man stated that he had a gun

- the man obtained cash from the stores and fled the area on foot

Police were called and quickly arrived on scene and located the man.


On Saturday, April 11, 2020, Miguel Vaughn Dyer, 46, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Robbery with Violence
2. Assault with Intent to Steal
3. two counts of Disguise with Intent

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10 a.m., in room 101.

On Friday, April 3, 2020, officers responded to a call for an indecent exposure that occurred on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 8:30 p.m., in the Brimley Road and Finch Avenue East area.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in a robbery investigation.

On Thursday, March 5, 2020, 52 Division initiated an investigation into a robbery that occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., in the Front Street West and Blue Jays Way area.

It is reported that:

- a man approached another man inside a coffee shop and demanded his cell phone.

- when the man refused to hand it over, he was repeatedly punched in the face and robbed of his cell phone

The suspect is described as 20-30, 6' tall, skinny build, clean shaven, short hair, wearing a red baseball hat backwards, black pants, grey jacket and black shoes.

Roofing Fraud investigations, Men and woman wanted, Photographs released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of several Fraud investigations and are also requesting the public’s assistance identifying and locating a group of people involved in a roofing scam in the Greater Toronto Area.

It is reported that:

- between January and February 2020, residences in Toronto were approached by a group of five men and a woman who purported to be roofers and City inspectors

- they advised residents that their roof needed to be fixed or the City will condemn their property

- they obtained an initial deposit and began the work

It is further reported that:

- they approached the residence again stating the roof needed additional work and requested more funds. Examples of this work included structural issues and/or a crane required to complete the job

- they obtained as much money as they could and never returned to complete the work

Some residents were at a financial loss and no work was ever complete, and some even had exposed holes in their roofs.

The company names used were PROfix Roofing and T-CITY Property Maintenance.
The vehicle used was a red Ford F150 pickup truck, with Ontario license plate of BB10569 .

Photos of the group of people have been released and they are described as:

Man # 1 – approximately 40, 220 – 240 lbs, 5’10”, short cropped red hair, receding hair line, had an Irish accent, and identified himself as Anthony Murphy or Dave Murphy

Man # 2 – mid 30s, 200 – 230 lbs, approximately 5’7”, dark hair, some balding at the crown, had an Irish accent, and identified himself as Liam or Allen Murphy

Man # 3 – mid to late 30s, 220 – 250 lbs, approximately 5’9”, with short dark hair and had an Irish accent

Man # 4 – 25 – 30 years

Man # 5 – 25 – 30 years, short brown hair and had an Irish accent

Man # 6 – 25 – 40 years, medium build, with a red coloured beard

Man # 7 – 25 – 40 years, heavy set, and balding

Woman # 1 – 25 – 40 years, thin build, long black hair, heavy make-up and had an Irish accent


They are each wanted for:

1) Theft Over $5000
2) Fraud Over $5000
3) Possession of property obtained by crime

The Toronto Police Service urges homeowners to exercise caution when dealing with contractors who solicit business door-to-door in neighbourhoods. The public is reminded that, in commercial transactions, they should always verify the identity of a person or business before deciding to trust that person or business.

Kervinton Marcelo, 17, was last seen on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 12 p.m., in the Richmond Street East and Sherbourne Street area.

He is described as 5'8", 100 lbs., with a slim build, short black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black coat, and grey sweatpants. He was carrying a white backpack and a red suitcase.
