Homicide #51/2019, 2700 Kipling Avenue, Amir Naraine, 21 Photographs released

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Police responded to a medical call with Toronto Paramedics at 2700 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke.

Once on scene, officers found a man who had suffered a gunshot wound and was without vital signs. Due to the nature and extent of his injuries, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide is investigating.

The man has been identified as Amir Naraine, 21, of Toronto. His photograph is attached.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen Amir or the vehicle that he was found in - a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu with licence plate CKDL 486 - on the night of Sunday, September 29, 2019, or the early morning hours of Monday, September 30, 2019, to please contact police.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing girl.

Rebeca Sofia Quezada Orozco, 13, was last seen Saturday, September 28, 2019, at approximately 4:00 p.m., in the Sheppard Avenue West and Wilmington Avenue area.

She is described as 5’9”, 100 lbs., with brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair. She was last seen wearing a beige lace top and black leggings.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Fatal Collision #47/2019, Kipling Avenue at Bethridge Road

On Sunday, September 29, at 8:31 p.m., police received a report of a pedestrian that was struck on Kipling Avenue south of Bethridge Road.

It is reported that:

- a 58 year-old man was crossing Kipling Avenue, south of Bethridge Road

- a 52 year-old man, who was driving a BMW northbound on Kipling Avenue, struck the pedestrian on the roadway

- the pedestrian died as a result of his injuries

The investigation is ongoing by Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, businesses and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Fatal Collision #46/2019, Kennedy Road at St Clair Avenue East

On Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 8:15 p.m., police received a report of a collision at the intersection of Kennedy Road and St. Clair Avenue East.

It is reported that:

- a 67 year-old man, who was driving a Honda northbound on Kennedy Road, stopped for a red traffic signal at St Clair Avenue East

- for an unknown reason, the vehicle accelerated through the red light and was struck by a Toyota heading westbound on St. Clair Avenue East

- two occupants of the Toyota, one a child, were transported to hospital with minor injuries

- the driver of the Honda died as a result of his injuries

The investigation is ongoing by Traffic Services.

Police are urging local residents, businesses and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

14 Division's Wanted Person Edney Reid, 34

Officers from 14 Division are looking for Edney Reid, 34, of Toronto.

He is wanted on the strength of a Warrant in the First for:

1) Robbery
2) two counts of Assault
3) Fail to Comply with Probation

He is described as 5’8", 170 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

Police warn that he is considered violent. If located do not approach. Call 9-1-1.

Missing man, Thomas Tierney, 59, Kingston Road and McCowan Road area

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Thomas Tierney, 59, was last seen on Monday, September 30, 2019, at approximately 7:30 a.m., in the Kingston Road and McCowan Road area.

He is described as 5'6", slim build, shoulder-length red and grey hair, with a bald spot on top.

He was last seen wearing olive cargo pants, red running shoes with white soles, black jacket with a red crest on the right shoulder, a black and white Coors Light back pack, red hoodie, and a black baseball cap.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Sexual Assault Alert, Two men wanted in Sexual Assault investigation, Peter Street and Adelaide Street West area

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying two men wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

On Monday, September 30, 2019, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a woman was walking in the Peter Street and Adelaide Street West area.

It is reported that:

- a man walked up from behind, and grabbed the woman and forced her into a nearby alleyway

- upon entering the alleyway, the man sexually assaulted the woman

- the woman fought back and the man fled the area on foot

The man is described as 6', with dark skin, and was wearing a grey coat.

Man, 39, arrested in aggravated assault and robbery investigation, Adelaide Street East and Church Street area, Faces six charges

Toronto Police Service's 51 Division would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an aggravated assault and robbery investigation in the Adelaide Street East and Church Street area.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at 1:30 a.m., a man broke into an apartment unit

- a 57-year-old woman was sleeping and awoke to find a man standing over her holding a knife

- the man demanded money and took the woman to the bank to withdraw more money

- once outside the apartment building, the woman made a plea for help

- the man then stabbed the woman before fleeing the scene

- the man was located a short distance away by police and arrested

On Tuesday October 1, 2019, Dawit Ephrem, 39, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Break & Enter Commit
2) Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
3) Aggravated Assault
4) Assault with a Weapon
5) Uttering Threats
6) Forcible Confinement

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Tuesday October 1, 2019, 10 a.m., room 501.

Man charged in ongoing Sexual Assault investigation, Michael Mazo, 31

A man has been charged as part of an ongoing Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a 15-year-old girl was a client of a psychotherapist at East Metro Youth Service on 200-1200 Markham Road between February 2017 and August 2019

- a man – who is believed to have worked there from January 2015 to May 2019 as well as providing private psychotherapy services at All of You Wellness Centre on 402-65 Wellesley Avenue - communicated with her in person and on social media platforms

- the girl was sexually assaulted on numerous occasions

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, members of the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre arrested Michael Mazo, 31, of Brampton. He is charged with:

1. Sexual Assault
2. Sexual Interference

He is to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 2 p.m., in room 301

Arrest made in Stabbing Investigation, Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue West

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest in an attempt murder investigation.

On Monday, September 30, 2019, at approximately 2 p.m., police responded to a radio call for a man with a knife in the area of Pleasant Avenue just west of Yonge Street on the north side of Goulding Park.

- police and paramedics responded to the area

- a woman suffering from multiple knife wounds was located

- a man was located nearby by police after a brief search, with the assistance of several citizens

On Monday September 30, 2019, Sen Yang, 30, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Cause Disturbance
2. Possession of Weapons Dangerous to the Public Peace
3. Aggravated Assault
4. Attempt Murder
5. two counts of Assault with a Weapon

He is to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, room 306.

The Toronto Police Service 41 Division's "Coffee with a Cop" event will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

The program started over three years ago, since then the events have been held regularly throughout the division.

The majority of contact police officers have with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Officers from 41 Division will be at McDonald’s located at 17 William Kitchen Road and sit down with community members in an informal gathering to discuss community issues, build relationships and enjoy coffee.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the service’s work in their community.

Waldemar Ernst Hofer, 58, was last seen on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 9 a.m. in the St Clair Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue area.

He is described as 6'0", 200 lbs., bald and with a scar on his forehead. He was last seen wearing jean shorts, a striped green short sleeve t-shirt, running shoes and was carrying a black knapsack.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Sexual Assault investigation in the Albion Road and Kipling Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, September 1, 2019, a girl was at a public pool swimming with friends

- an unknown man approached the girl and sexually assaulted her

- the unknown man continued to follow the girl around the pool

The man is described as Asian, 5'11", skinny build, with black hair.

Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the male.

Police would also like to speak with any witnesses.

Man wanted in Kidnapping Investigation, Bay Street and Gerrard Street West area, Todd Mitchell, 37, Photograph released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a man wanted in connection with a kidnapping investigation.

On Wednesday, July 10, 2019, police responded to a call for a kidnapping in the Bay Street and Gerrard Street West area.

It is reported that:

- the victim was kidnapped, assaulted and held hostage

- the victim was forced to turn over his credit card with the PIN number

- purchases were then made on the credit card

As a result of an investigation, a man was identified.

Todd Mitchell, 37, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1. Robbery
2. Assault Causing Bodily Harm
3. Assault With A Weapon
4. Extortion
5. Kidnapping
6. Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card
7. Forgery
8. Possession of Counterfeit Money
9. Possession of Property Obtained By Crime

Media advisory, Police Constable Graduation, Thursday, October 3, 2019, Noon, Fort York Armoury

The media are being invited to a graduation ceremony for 133 new police constables on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at noon, at the Fort York Armoury, located at 660 Fleet St.

Chief Mark Saunders will be joined by Minister of Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, Deputy Solicitor General Mario Di Tommaso, Mayor John Tory and Toronto Police Services Board Member Ken Jeffers in welcoming the newest officers to the Toronto Police Service.

The graduating class is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.

The class is comprised of 20 women and 36% visible minority members. A total of 71% of the class successfully completed post-secondary education and 51% speak another language other than English.

Homicides #52/2019 and #53/2019, 306 Grandravine Drive

Officers are appealing to the public for assistance after two men were fatally shot in the west-end of Toronto. A teenage boy was wounded but survived his injuries.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at approximately 8:21 p.m., armed men began firing shots in the area of Venetian Crescent just south of the Jane and Finch Mall.

The men then fired a number of rounds at a teenage boy. He sustained multiple wounds before escaping.

A short time later, at 9:04 p.m., the same men with handguns fired a number of rounds at homes in the area 2010 Sheppard Avenue West . Police investigated and it was identified that no one was injured.

At 9:29 p.m, two men were in a courtyard situated at 306 Grandravine Drive, when the same men fired a number of rounds at them. The two men were critically injured.

Officers and paramedics attended and began life saving efforts on the two men. They were both taken to hospital and later succumbed to their injuries and pronounced deceased.

The two men have been identified as:

1. Delauntae Bryant, 24,

2. Eric Rowe, 20,

Investigators are appealing to the public for any dash-cam video, security video footage or information about the incidents and the gunmen.
