Fatal collision #2/2019, McCowan Road and Brimorton Drive

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 10:14 p.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision at McCowan Road and Brimorton Drive.

It is reported that:

- a 44-year-old man was driving a Honda Civic, southbound in the passing lane on McCowan Road north of Brimorton Drive

- a 32-year-old man was driving a Honda Accord, southbound in the curb lane on McCowan Road north of Brimorton Drive

- the driver of the Honda Civic changed lanes, colliding with the Honda Accord, causing both vehicles to lose control

- the Honda Civic mounted the east curb striking a pole

- the driver of the Honda Civic sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene

Theft investigation, McCowan Road and Highway 401 area, Man wanted

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance locating a man wanted in a theft investigation.

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, officers began an investigation into a theft at a restaurant in the McCowan Road and Highway 401 area.

It is reported that:

- a large group had attended the restaurant to celebrate a birthday

- when the bill came a man requested the Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal

- he then left the restaurant with the terminal

He is described as being in his 20's and wearing black pants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and a red and white toque.

Security camera images of him are released.

Two men arrested, Charged in five bank robberies

Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of a series of five armed bank robberies that were committed between Friday, December 14, 2018 and Friday, January 11, 2019.

It is alleged that:

- during each of the bank robberies the two men drove to the bank branches

- one man would exit the vehicle and enter the branch by disguising his identity with a bandana covering his lower face, a hoodie pulled tightly around his face and gloves

- the man would then remove a long-barreled revolver from his pants and confront the branch staff demanding money and ordered the vault opened

- the man would bring a plastic bag, point the firearm at the victims and ordered the money be placed in the plastic bag

- in each robbery the man fled the branch to the awaiting get-away vehicle which was driven by another man

Hold Up officers commenced and investigation and two men were arrested on Friday, January 11, 2019. A fully loaded .357 magnum revolver and cash taken during the last robbery was seized.

Gehricko Johnson, 25, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. five counts Robbery With a Firearm
2. five counts of Disguise With Intent
3. four counts of Pointing a Firearm
4. Use Firearm in the Commission of an Indictable Offence
5. Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
6. Possession of a Weapon
7. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its possession is Unauthorized
8. Careless Use of a Firearm
9. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000


Anthony Merchan, 28, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. five counts of five counts of Robbery With a Firearm
2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

They both were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Federal Inmate Wanted, Jimmy Nguyen, 28, Photograph Released

The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is requesting the public's assistance in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant as a result of his breach of statutory release.

Jimmy Nguyen, 28, is described as 5'5", 160 lbs., brown eyes and black hair. He has tattoos on both arms and often wears glasses.

He is serving a four year and nine month sentence for drug trafficking and firearm offences.

The offender is known to frequent Toronto, Mississauga and Hamilton.

Sexual Assault Alert, Man Wanted, PATH system near Union Station, Photo of Suspect Released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a sexual assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- On Friday, January 11, 2019, at approximately 2 a.m., a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the PATH system near Union Station

The suspect is described as in his 20s, medium build, goatee, curly short black hair with acne. He identified himself as James and Jay.

A photograph has been released and investigators are seeking assistance identifying the man.

Break and Enter investigation, Jarvis Street and Mount Pleasant Road area, World War II Medals Stolen

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance with a Break and Enter investigation.

It was reported that:

- in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 12, 2019, suspect(s) entered a residence in the Jarvis Street and Mount Pleasant Road area

- numerous items were stolen, including a box containing six World War II medals

- the box was located a short distance away however the medals were missing

The stolen medals included:

- War Medal 1939-1945 (silver medal, 1.42" diameter)
- 1939-1945 Star
- France & Germany Star
- Defence Medal
- Canadian Volunteer Service Medal
- Military Medal

Photos are attached.

Police are asking people in the Jarvis and Bloor area to keep any eye out for these medals in case they were also discarded or are being made available for resale and contact police with any information.

Ayube Mohamed, 59, was last seen on Saturday, January 12, 2019, during the day, in the Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area.

He is described as having a dark complexion, wears glasses, medium build, 5’8", and 200 lbs. He was last seen wearing dark coloured clothing.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Richard Acmens, 57, was last seen on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at approximately 10 a.m., in the area of King St. W. and Dufferin St.

He is described as 5’9”, 250 lbs., unshaven, with long grey hair, balding on top and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark-grey toque, grey jacket and brown shoes.

Police are concerned for his well-being.

Jeffrey Orosz, 47, was last seen on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at 5 p.m., in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

He is described as white, 5’7", 150 lbs., long brown hair, brown eyes, beard, and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, grey track pants, white runners, black toque.

If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Meekal Ali, 11, was last seen on Monday, January 14, 2019, at approximately 3 p.m., in the Mount Olive Drive and Silverstone Drive area.

He is described as 4’2”, 86 lbs. He was last seen wearing his school uniform, consisting of navy blue pants and navy blue sweater, and a black winter coat.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a wanted man.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, a man assaulted a woman in the area of Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East

It is further alleged that:

- on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, a man was involved in the theft of jewelry in the area of Neilson Road and Mclevin Avenue

The man has been identified as Johvan Waldron 24, of Toronto. He is wanted for the following:

1. Assault with a Weapon
2. Assault
3. Fail to Comply with Recognizance
4. Theft Over $5,000
5. Possession of Property obtained by Crime

He is described as 5'6" and 110 lbs.

Missing boy located, Mount Olive Drive and Silverstone Drive area, Meekal Ali, 11

Police request assistance with a Personal Injury Collision, 3825 Sheppard Avenue East

On Wednesday, January 09, 2019, at 6:53 p.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision which occurred out front of 3825 Sheppard Avenue East, approximately 100 metres east of Allanford Road

It is reported that:

- an 85-year-old woman was walking across Sheppard Avenue East from the north side to the south side, out front of 3825 Sheppard Avenue

- a black Honda CRV was driving eastbound on Sheppard Avenue East approaching 3825 Sheppard Avenue East

- the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The vehicle did not remain and fled the scene

- the pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital

Police are asking local residents, business, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Police seek assistance with a Commercial Break and Enter investigation, Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in locating two men wanted for a commercial break and enter investigation.

On Friday, December 28, 2018, at 3:31 a.m., police responded to the call for a Commercial Break and Enter in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area.

It is alleged:

- two men obtained approximately $18,000 worth of stolen merchandise from a break and enter

- they both fled from police

One suspect has been identified as Michael Gibson, 32, of Toronto. He is wanted for:

1. Break and Enter
2. Possess Property Obtained by Crime
3. Theft Exceeding $5000
4. Mischief to Property

He is described as 5'9", 221 lbs., brown eyes and with receding black hair.

The other suspect is described as having a white complexion, large build, chin-strap beard/goatee and dark hair. He was wearing a black winter jacket and baseball hat.

Firearm seizure, Jane Street and Finch Avenue West area, Boy, 17, facing seven charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest and firearm seizure.

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at approximately 12:10 a.m., members of the West Command Gun Violence Suppression Unit and Emergency Task Force executed a Criminal Code Search warrant at a residence in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

- inside the residence, police located a loaded Sturm Ruger Speed Six .357 Revolver, loaded with six .357 rounds of ammunition

A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
2. Possess Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
3. Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime
4. Alter Serial Number on Firearm
5. Store Firearm Carelessly
6. Store Ammunition Carelessly
7. Breach of Recognizance

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 10 a.m.

The boy cannot be named under provisions contained in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

During the early morning hours on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, a quantity of mixed prescription medication was stolen from the area of College Street and Beatrice Street.

The prescription medication could be harmful or fatal if ingested, especially to children.

Public assistance sought identifying and locating two women wanted in a Robbery Investigation, Bathurst Street and Fort York Blvd area, Security camera images released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating two women wanted in a Robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

- On Saturday, December 1, 2018, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a man was in the area of Bathurst Street and Fort York Boulevard

- at this point, three women, (one of whom advised that she was armed with a taser), threatened him and robbed him of his cellular phone and a sum of cash

- the man reported the incident to police

- Police commenced an investigation and one of the female suspects has since been located and arrested. The other two women are still outstanding and public’s assistance is required to identify them.

They have been described as:

Suspect #1: 5'4" - 5'6", in her 20s, with long, dirty-blonde hair, and tanned skin. She was wearing a green hooded top, with a black jacket and black pants

Suspect #2: 6'3", in her 20s. She was last seen wearing a black winter coat, with a fur-trimmed hood, grey pants and black shoes.

On Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., in the media gallery at Toronto Police headquarters, Detective Scott Allan of 14 Division will hold a news conference about an aggravated assault investigation.

A video of the aggravated assault and suspect will be made available to the media.

The news conference will be available on TOC and will be live-streamed.
