Missing man, Keele Street and Rustic Road area, Sarwan Thapar, 69

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing man.

Sarwan Thapar, 69, was last seen on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at approximately 12:00 p.m., in the Keele Street and Rustic Road area.

He is described as 5’9”, thin build, brown eyes, balding with short white hair, grey moustache. His clothing description is unknown but he normally wears a white T-shirt, grey pants, prescription glasses. He speaks very little English. He is fluent in Punjabi.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Four people arrested in Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation, Parkdale area, Face total of 68 charges, Firearm, ammunition and drugs seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests in a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation.

On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at an address in the Parkdale area.

It is alleged that:

- four people were located inside and arrested

- a firearm, ammunition and a quantity of drugs were seized

It is further alleged that the following was seized:

- 7.92 grams of powdered cocaine
- 13.97 grams of crack/cocaine
- 5.85 grams of Oxycodone pills
- Walther P22 Semi-Automatic handgun (loaded)
- 10 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition

Aaron Doucette, 29, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) Careless Storage (Firearm)
3) Possession Knowing Possession Unauthorized
4) Careless Storage (Ammunition)
5) Unauthorized Possession Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
6) Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
7) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Firearm
8) three counts of Possession of a Weapon
9) Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Crack Cocaine)
10) Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance (Crack Cocaine)

Homicide #59/2018, Kevin Boakye, 24, Security camera images released

On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 11:01 a.m., police responded to a shooting in the Islington Avenue and Milady Road area.

The victim has been identified as Kevin Boakye, 24, of Toronto.

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, Homicide Detective Sergeant Gary Giroux provided an update.

The Toronto Police Service will be hosting its 27th Annual Toronto Caribbean Carnival Kick-Off Celebration on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 11 a.m., at police headquarters. This year’s theme is “Caribbean Wave."

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival event celebrates the cultural heritage of people from the Caribbean and the spirit they contribute to Canadian culture. The Service, in partnership with community and corporate partners, including The Children's Breakfast Club, have been participating in this event since 1991. This participation will include a float in the Toronto Caribbean Carnival Parade, as well as celebrations at the local Divisions.

Numerous dignitaries and community members will join Toronto Police Services Board member Ken Jeffers and Chief Mark Saunders at the celebration. This event will also feature entertainment followed by an informal reception.

On Saturday, July 28, 2018, the third annual OssFest street festival will take place on Ossington Avenue, between Dundas Street West and Queen Street West.

There will be a full road closure of Ossington Avenue, from Dundas Street West to Queen Street West, from 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 until 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation. The TTC may experience delays.

The festival will take place regardless of weather conditions.

Man Arrested in Internet Child Luring/Child Pornography Investigation, Blair Thomas Newton Evans, 68, Faces 14 charges

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, the Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes, Child Exploitation Section, executed a Criminal Code search warrant in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East.

It is alleged that:

- a man communicated through social media with a boy

- the man engaged in multiple, sexually explicit conversations with the boy

- the man sent the boy abusive images and directed the boy to send child pornography images of himself

The man communicated through various social media sites as "TomLarkin789" and “btnevans”. Police believe there may be additional victims.

Blair Thomas Newton Evans, 68, of Toronto has been arrested. He is charged with

1. Four counts of Make Available Child Pornography
2. Two counts of Make child pornography
3. Three counts of Possess Child Pornography
4. Two counts of Access Child Pornography
5. Luring a Child under 18 years
6. Luring a Child under 16 years
7. Invitation to Sexual Touching

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Man arrested in suspected hate-motivated crime investigation, Jack Layton Ferry Terminal

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a suspected hate-motivated crime investigation.

It alleged that:

- on Monday, July 23, 2018 a man confronted two men as they walked with their family at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal located at 9 Queens Quay West.

- the man repeatedly yelled at the men

- he assaulted and threatened one man and assaulted the other man.

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, Lombray Ball, 50, of Toronto was arrested and is charged with:

1. Two counts of Assault
2. Threatening Death

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 10 a.m.

Fatal collision #36/2018, Doris Avenue, south of Holmes Avenue

On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 12:46 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Doris Avenue, south of Holmes Avenue.

It is reported that:

- a man, 23, was driving a Honda S2000, northbound on Doris Avenue, approaching Holmes Avenue

- for reasons not yet determined, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a light standard on the east side of Doris Avenue, south of Holmes Avenue

The man received life-threatening injuries and succumbed to those injuries at the scene.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 2:03 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Roncesvalles Avenue, south of Marion Street.

It is reported that:

- a man, 65, was driving a 2006 Ford pick-up, southbound on Roncesvalles Avenue, south of Marion Street

- for reasons not yet determined, the vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and struck two parked vehicles on the east side of Roncesvalles Avenue

The 65-year-old man received life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Daniel George Juenke, 33, was last seen on Thursday, July 27, 2018, at 2:30 p.m., in the Wilson Avenue and Keele Street area.

He is described as 5'11", with dark hair. He has several tattoos, including the face of Jesus on his shoulders, a Canadian Flag on his left shoulder and 'CUJO' on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, and khaki cargo shorts.

Police are concerned for his safety.

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 12:46 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Eglinton Avenue West, at Marlee Avenue.

It is reported that:

- a man, 36, was driving a 2017 Mack dump-truck, westbound on Eglinton Avenue West, at Marlee Avenue

- a woman, 55, was on the roadway and was struck by the vehicle

- the woman received life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where she succumbed to those injuries.

Man wanted in an Assault investigation, Bloor- Yonge Subway Station

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man wanted in an Assault occurrence.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, a man exited the Bloor-Yonge subway

- as he made his way approximately one block south of the intersection, an unknown man approached him from behind and struck him in the head with a hammer

- the attack was unprovoked

- the man received non-life-threatening injuries

The suspect is described as 5'9", 45-60 years old, with a large build, and a thick white/black beard. He was wearing a black toque, black winter jacket, and carrying a black backpack.
