Homicide #13/2018 Than Tien Ngo, 32, Homicide #14/2018, Ruma Amar, 29

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 10:08 p.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting at 33 Samor Road.

See previous release.

The victims have been identified as Thanh Tien Ngo, 32, and Ruma Amar, 29.

Homicide investigators are looking for three suspects with at least two of them armed with handguns.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect #1: male, wearing blue hooded shirt, black shoes

Suspect #2: male, wearing black hooded shirt, black shoes with white soles

Suspect #3: unknown description at this time

The men fled the area in a dark vehicle, westbound.

Investigators have reason to believe that Mr. Ngo was the intended target and that there is no known relationship between Mr. Ngo and Ms. Amar.

The Toronto Police Service is appealing for any witnesses who may have seen or heard anything, who have yet to speak with police, to come forward. We are interested in speaking to anyone who would know why Mr. Ngo may have been targeted.

Post-mortem examinations are scheduled for Monday, March 19, 2018.

The Toronto Police Service is an important partner in Vision Zero: Toronto's Road Safety Plan.

On Monday, March 19, 2018, at 7:30 a.m., “Slow Down Toronto” will kick-off at Cornell Junior Public School, 61 Holmfirth Terrace.

Speakers at this event will include:

• Mayor John Tory
• Deputy Chief Peter Yuen
• Councillor Paul Ainslie
• Barbara Gray, General Manager, Transportation Services
• Yvonne de Wit, Director, Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention, Toronto Public Health

Other guests in attendance will include:

TDSB Chair of the Board Robin Pilkey
Cornell Junior Public School Trustee Jerry Chadwick
School Superintendent Kerry Lynn Stadnyk

Vision Zero acknowledges that collisions are inevitable but that killed and seriously injured (KSI) collisions on the roads of Toronto are preventable and unacceptable. The Toronto Police Service is committed to Vision Zero and to working collaboratively with our partner agencies in pursuit of this vision.

The "Slow Down Toronto" campaign will start on Monday, March 19, 2018 and conclude on Sunday, April 1, 2018. During this campaign, the Toronto Police Service will focus traffic enforcement efforts on offences identified as major contributors to KSI collisions. These include offences such as speeding, distracted driving, and all offences indicating aggressive driving behaviour.

Media advisory, Monday, March 19, 2018, 8 a.m., Fairmont Royal York, 100 Front Street West, International Human Trafficking Training & Awareness Conference, Opening ceremonies

On Monday, March 19, 2018, at 8 a.m., at the Fairmont Royal York, 100 Front Street West, the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, will open the first International Human Trafficking Training & Awareness Conference.

The conference will feature speakers from all over the world, who will share their expertise and experiences with human trafficking investigations. Topics include: case studies from law enforcement agencies, stories from survivors, and the use of data analytics in the fight against human trafficking.

Opening ceremonies are open to the media and will include remarks by Chief Mark Saunders; OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes; Minister of Community Safety & Correctional Services, the Honourable Marie-France Lalonde; MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, Ms. Laurie Scott; and Director of the Provincial Anti-Human Trafficking Strategy, Ms. Jennifer Richardson.

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, he surrendered to police at 14 Division. He was charged with:

1) Fail to Attend Court

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, March 15, 2018, 10 a.m., room 101.

Three men wanted in abduction investigation, McCowan Road and McNicoll Avenue area, Image of vehicle released

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance identifying and locating three men wanted in an abduction investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, March 16, 2018, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a man, 27, was abducted by three men with firearms in the McCowan Road and McNicoll Avenue area

- the three men fled in a newer-model matte-grey Dodge Charger, with sport-type rims, on Highway 401 from McCowan Road towards Highway 400 North

The first suspect is described as male, black or brown, medium/dark skin, 5’11”-6’0”, medium build, short curly black hair, wearing red gloves, grey hoodie, mask covering lower part of his face.

The second suspect is described as male, black or brown, skinny build, 5’6”-5’7”, wearing a hoodie covering his head, blue bandana

The third suspect is described as male, black or brown, tall.

Peter Forde, 39, faces six charges in Voyeurism investigation, Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue area, Police concerned there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a Voyeurism investigation.

On Friday, March 16, 2018, the Toronto Police Service started an investigation into alleged incidents of Voyeurism in the Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man recorded women inside their apartments without their knowledge or consent

Peter Forde, 39, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) six counts of Voyeurism

Police are concerned there may be other victims.

Toronto Police Service Homicide is seeking assistance identifying two men and a vehicle in the investigation into Homicide #12/2018.

On Friday, March 16, 2018, at 11:09 p.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting at 49 Scarlettwood Court.

It is reported that:

- the man was walking towards his parked car when he was approached by two men from behind

- the men discharged a firearm multiple times at the man

- the men fled on foot and escaped in an SUV that was waiting for them in the Scarlettwood Court community housing complex area

It is believed that the vehicle is a newer-model Nissan Rogue

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest.

On Thursday, March 15, 2018, police began an investigation to locate a wanted man considered dangerous.

Majid Mehar, 35, of Toronto, was arrested on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 1:21 p.m., in the Kennedy Road and Progress Avenue area.

He has been charged with:

1) Weapons Dangerous
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
3) Impaired Operation - Motor Vehicle
4) Dangerous operation - Motor Vehicle
5) Fail to Remain
6) two counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance
7) Mischief over $5000
8) Fail to Comply Probation
9) two counts of Driving while Under Suspension HTA

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, March 17, 2018, 10 a.m., room 111.

The Toronto Police Service’s French Consultative Committee will be hosting its 8th Annual International Francophonie Day Celebration on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 11 a.m., in the lobby of Toronto Police Service Headquarters. This year’s theme is "La langue française, notre trait d'union pour agir."

Deputy Chief Peter Yuen and Ms. Marie Moliner, representing the Toronto Police Services Board, will open this year's celebration. The event will also feature Congolese entertainment provided by Fumu Jahmez, followed by an informal reception.

On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 8:06 a.m., officers attended 18 Graydon Hall Drive.

A deceased man was located on a balcony.

During the canvass of the condo building, a woman was located inside a unit with obvious signs of trauma. Medical treatment was provided, however she succumbed to her injuries.

She has been identified as Essozinam Assali, 27, of Toronto. The man has been identified as Onoseta Oribhabor, 30, of Edmonton.

No one else is being sought by police.

She is described as 5’10”, 115 lbs., long black hair typically worn in a bun. She was last seen wearing a black jacket with fur on the collar, black Under Armour hooded sweater, black pants, red-and-black plaid shoes, carrying a black backpack, and a black-and-blue purse.

Man, 22, arrested in Attempt Murder investigation, Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Attempt Murder investigation.

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at approximately 2 a.m., police responded to a stabbing in the Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a man attended the address of another man and confronted him

- the man produced a large knife and stabbed the victim several times

- the man fled the area on foot

- the victim was rushed to hospital

Members of 54 Division Major Crime Unit started an investigation.

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, Adam Bryan James MacDougall, 22, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Attempt Murder

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, March 17, 2018, 10 a.m.
