Police request assistance with Sexual Assault investigation, Fairmount Park, 1757 Gerrard Street East

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, July 17, 2017, at approximately 4:15 a.m., police responded to a call for a sexual assault at Fairmount Park, 1757 Gerrard Street East, just off the sidewalk of Gerrard Street East

- the man told the woman, 34, he was armed with a gun

- the man sexually assaulted the woman

Festival of South Asia, Saturday, July 22, 2017 to Sunday, July 23, 2017. Road closures

The TD Festival of South Asia will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2017, and Sunday, July 23, 2017, on Gerrard Street East, between Glenside Avenue and Coxwell Avenue.

The festival will take place from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. both days.

The following road closures will take place from Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 8 a.m., until Monday, July 24, 2017, at 2 a.m., on:

- Gerrard Street East, from Coxwell Avenue to Glenside Avenue

TTC adjustments will be as follows:
TTC vehicles will only be able to pass through the closed sections from 11 p.m. on July 22, 2017, to 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Motorists can expect traffic delays in the area and are advised to consider alternate routes.

People attending are advised to consider public transportation.

This event will take place regardless of weather conditions.

Saturday, July 22, 2017, 2017 Junior Carnival Parade and Festival, Neilson Park, 1555 Neilson Road, Road closures

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival will be organizing the Junior Carnival Parade and Festival at Neilson Park, 1555 Neilson Road.

The festivities will include a parade beginning at 11 a.m., starting at Malvern Community Recreation Centre and proceeding westbound on McLevin Avenue, northbound on Neilson Road to eastbound Neilson Park Drive into the park.

The following road closures will be in effect:

- McLevin Avenue, from Sewells Road to Neilson Road, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- Neilson Road, from McLevin Avenue to Finch Avenue, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Motorists can expect delays.

Saturday, July 22, 2017, The Oss Fest, Ossington Avenue, from Dundas Street West to Queen Street West, Road closures

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 11 a.m., the second annual Oss Fest will take place. The event will include a street festival and bike race.

Road closures will be in place for all or part of the day.

The festival and bike race route:

- Ossington Avenue, between Dundas Street West and Queen Street West, Saturday, July 22, 2017, 6 a.m to Sunday, July 23, 2017, 3 a.m., full road closure

- Halton Street, between Givins Street and Ossington Avenue, partial road closure

- Givins Street, Halton Street to Rebecca Street, partial road closure

- Rebecca Street, between Givins Street and Ossington Avenue, partial road closure

The festival will end at approximately 11 p.m., however Ossington Avenue will remain closed until 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation. The TTC may experience delays.

The festival and race will take place regardless of weather conditions.

Cassandra Tyler, 15, was last seen on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in the Lawrence Avenue West and Avenue Road area.

She is described as 5'2", 100 lbs., brown hair, brown eyes. There is no clothing description available.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Man wanted in Sexual Assault investigation, Ossington subway station

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance identifying a man wanted in a Sexual Assault investigation.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to a call for a sexual assault at Ossington subway station.

It is reported that:

- a woman was walking with her seven-year-old son

- they were on the escalator leaving track level

- the boy was approached from behind and sexually assaulted

The man is described as brown, 5'5"-5'7", 150 lbs, slim build, wearing grey T-shirt, dark jeans, blue running shoes.

A security camera image is released.

Missing girl, Kipling Avenue and Albion Road area, Tejah Thornhill, 15

The Toronto Police Service requests the public’s assistance locating a missing girl.

Tejah Thornhill, 15, was last seen on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 4 p.m., in the Kipling Avenue and Albion Road area.

She is described as 5’3", 130 lbs., medium build, black shoulder-length hair in corn rows, brown eyes and prescription eyeglasses. She was last seen wearing black pants with a red 'Polo' horse , green City of Toronto t-shirt with “Volunteer” written on the back, and grey 'Air Jordan' shoes.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Man sought on Canada-Wide Warrant, Lingathasan Suntharamoorthy, 36, Update, Man surrenders to 42 Division

On Friday, January 20, 2017, the Toronto Police Service requested the public's assistance locating a man wanted on a Canada-Wide Warrant

On Friday, January 20, 2017, at 10 a.m., Lingathasan Suntharamoorthy, 36, of Toronto, left the Toronto East courthouse at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East.

He is wanted for:

1) Being Unlawfully at Large

He is described as 5'10", medium build with short black hair.

He is known to be violent and dangerous. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

On Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 3:45 a.m., Lingathasan Suntharamoorthy, now 37, of Toronto, surrendered to police at 42 Division.

He was arrested and charged with:

1) Unlawfully at Large

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Thursday, July 20, 2017, 10 a.m., room 412.

Sexual Assault Alert, Man Wanted

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a sexual assault.

It has been reported that:

- on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 26-year-old woman was riding a GO Transit bus southbound on the Don Valley Parkway in the city of Toronto.

- the woman was seated behind a man

- she fell asleep

- the man sexually assaulted her

- she awoke during the assault

The man remained on the bus and was last seen exiting the bus at the Union Station bus terminal.

The man is described as 45–55, 5’8”-5’10”, bigger build, greyish hair, and was clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat with white writing on the front, a burgundy/reddish hoodie, a black leather jacket, black pants and flat shoes.

His photo has been released.

Man wanted in Car-jacking and Impersonating Police investigation, Security camera images released

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in an Impersonating Law Enforcement and Car-jacking investigation.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for the theft of a vehicle in the Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue East area.

It is reported that:

- a 91-year-old man was filling his car with gas

- he was approached by a man who indicated his tire was flat

- he offered to help him fill the tire

- he asked for his keys but the 91-year-old man refused

- the man lunged, and grabbed the car keys

- the man got in the car and fled, striking the 91-year-old man

He was last seen driving a grey 2009 4-door Hyundai Elantra licence 053 WCY. He is described as 40-45 years old, tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and carrying a white plastic bag.

Security camera images are released.

Man wanted in car-jacking and robbery investigation, Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue West area, Update, Quinnton Drake, 25, now facing 21 charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in the arrest of a man wanted in a car-jacking and robbery investigation.

On Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a call for a person with a gun in the Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue West area.

Thanks to Forensic Identification Services a man was identified.

Quinnton Drake, 25, of Ajax, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
2) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
3) Six counts of Point Firearm
4) Robbery
5) Use Firearm in Commission of Indictable Offence
6) Careless Use of Firearm (S.86)
7) Possess Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
8) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over
9) Four counts of Breach of Firearms Prohibition Order
10) Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
11) Careless Storage of Ammunition
12) Carry Concealed Weapon

He will appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 10 a.m., in room 306.

On Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 10:35 a.m., Chitranjan Boyal, 41, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Sexual Assault
2) Sexual Interference
3) Fail to Comply with Probation

He will appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 10 a.m., in room 101.

**not ready** Charges laid in Benefit Fraud Case, Clinic owner, employee and 10 TTC employees face charges

In January 2015, the Toronto Police Service received a complaint from the Toronto Transit Commission and Manulife alleging false medical claims being submitted through Health Fit in Mississauga and Toronto.

As a result of the investigation, charges were laid and are presently before the courts.

In November 2016, Manulife reported a similar complaint on behalf of the City of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- the owner and an employee of Healthy Fit Incorporated operated a business that provided medical products and services in Mississauga and Toronto between November 30, 2011 and July 21, 2015

- they counselled and conspired with numerous TTC employees who submitted more than $5 million in claims to the insurance provider, Manulife

- they provided some or no products that were invoiced and split the insurance payments with the customer

It is further alleged that the owner defrauded the City of Toronto in a similar manner. This allegedly involved several City of Toronto employees submitting approximately $96,000 in claims to Manulife. These claims were also split between City employees and accused.

The following charges have been laid in relation to this case:

Adam Smith, 46, of Mississauga, owner of Healthy Fit Incorporated:

1. Two counts of Fraud Over $5,000
2. Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence - Fraud Over $5,000
3. Laundering Proceeds of Crime

Savath Nget, 32, of Toronto, employee of Healthy Fit Incorporated:

1. Fraud Over $5,000
2. Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence - Fraud Over $5,000

These charges are before the courts at Old City Hall.

The following TTC employees all face one count of Fraud Over $5,000:

1. Lisa Dixon, 40, of Toronto
2. Douglas Docherty, 47, of Bowmanville
3. Ahmed Kabba, 58, of Ajax
4. Alfred Metri, 51, of Pickering
5. Corey Newell, 48, of Toronto
6. Glenn Saunders, 51, of Stouffville
7. Joao Sousa, 45, of Bradford
8. Sohan Virk, 55, of Caledon
9. Novella Williams, 32, of Toronto
10. Ishmael Yankson, 40, of Brampton

They appeared at Old City Hall Court, room 111, during the week of July 10, 2017.

Police request assistance with animal cruelty investigation, Dane Avenue and Blossomfield Drive area, Update, Man surrenders to police at 32 Division

The Toronto Police Service is seeking assistance with an animal cruelty investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at approximately 3:40 p.m., a man was seen on security camera footage in the Dane Avenue and Blossomfield Drive area

A Toronto Animal Services employee recognized the man and contacted police.

On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Quang (Andrew) Tieu, 35, of Toronto, surrendered to police at 32 Division. He was charged with:

1. Wilfully Cause Unnecessary Pain / Suffering Or Injury To An Animal Or Bird
2. Owner/Person Having Custody Or Control Abandon / Wilfully Neglect Animal Or Bird

As a result, Toronto Animal Services conducted various search warrants and it is alleged that 23 adult dogs and 14 puppies have been seized and are in the care of Toronto Animal Services.

The man is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, August 24, 2017, 1 p.m., room 301.

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank our partners from the City of Toronto and Toronto Animal Services.

Residents should be advised to use a reputable source to either find a dog for their family or find an alternative home for their pet, if required. There are many reputable organizations and services that have pets available.

If residents become aware of someone who is keeping animals in unsafe conditions (garage, etc.), contact 311 and the City will investigate.

Michelle Guevaro, 30, was last seen on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

She is described as, 5’4”, 200 lbs., with a heavy build, brown eyes, and long, black hair. She was last seen wearing a tank top and black spandex yoga pants.

Man wanted in Theft, Break and Enter and Theft of Vehicle investigation

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in a Theft, Break and Enter and Theft of Vehicle investigation.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 3:51 p.m., officers responded to a call for a Break and Enter in the Yorkville area.

It is reported that:

- a woman attended a function at a downtown hotel

- her purse was stolen from a common area

- the suspect used information in the purse and her keys to get into her home

- the suspect was interrupted by someone in the house

- he stole her car

He is described as 35-years-old, medium build, receding hairline, black and grey baseball cap, brown jacket, blue jeans and grey shoes.

Security camera images of him are being released.
