The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing man.

Fernando Matias, 58, was last seen in the evening hours of Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in the Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West area.

He is described as 5’4”, 130-140 lbs., brown eyes, medium build, grey hair, receding hairline with bald patch in back, unshaven, possibly wearing a blue golf shirt, tan pants, brown dress shoes, black belt.

Police are concerned for his safety.

It is believed that she may be in the Toronto or Hamilton area.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Fatal collision #24/2017, 1395 Lake Shore Boulevard West

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 6:23 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision near 1395 Lake Shore Boulevard West.

It is reported that:

- a five-year-old boy was riding a bicycle, westbound on the bike trail, on the south side of Lake Shore Boulevard West

- a 29-year-old man was driving a 2013 Toyota Camry, eastbound on Lake Shore Boulevard West, approaching 1395 Lake Shore Boulevard West

- for reasons not yet determined, the boy fell from the bicycle and on to the roadway, where he was struck by the car

The boy was taken to hospital where he was pronounced.

Homicide #18/2017, Dufferin Street and Bowie Avenue area, Leonard Pinnock, 33, Security camera video released

On Friday, April 21, 2017, at 9:30 p.m., police were called to the Dufferin Street and Bowie Avenue area for a sound of gunshots.

Emergency personnel arrived and found a man with apparent injuries. He was pronounced at the scene.

It is reported that:

- the victim, who has been identified as Leonard Pinnock, 33, of Hamilton, was sitting in his car waiting for a friend

- he was shot by two unknown persons while still in his vehicle

On Thursday, May 25, 2017, Homicide Detective Sergeant Joyce Schertzer held a news conference. The conference can be viewed on YouTube.

Security camera video was released and can be viewed on YouTube.

Missing man located, Morningside Avenue and Ellesmere Road area, Duane Montaque, 31

On Monday, May 23, 2017, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police responded to a call for a man who had been shot in the Cavell Avenue/Pape Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- emergency services located a man in the Gerrard Street East/Logan Avenue area with gunshot wounds

- he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced

- while investigating the crime scene, a second crime scene was discovered at 96 Cavell Avenue

- at this second scene, police found a deceased woman

The man has been identified as Abdiqani Abshir, 24, of Toronto. A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound.

The investigation into the woman's death is ongoing. Her identity will not be released at this time.

Sunday, May 28, 2017, 33rd annual Aga Khan World Partnership Walk, Road closures

On Sunday, May 28, 2017, the Aga Khan Foundation Canada will hold their 33rd annual World Partnership Walk. Registration and announcements will take place, prior to the event, at David Pecaut Square, located at Metro Hall.

The VIPs and dignitaries will be required to proceed to King Street West, and start the walk at 11a.m. -11:15 a.m. This group will then continue eastbound on King Street West in the curb lane, then southbound on Simcoe Street. The corporate teams will join the walk at the intersection of Wellington Street West and Simcoe Street. They will join the following walkathon route:

Formation Area - Metro Hall
Eastbound - King Street West (Eastbound Curb lane ONLY)
Eastbound - Wellington Street West
Southbound - Simcoe Street (2 West lanes ONLY)
Eastbound - Wellington Street West (Full Roadway)
Northbound - University Avenue (Northbound Lanes)
Northbound - Queen’s Park (Northbound Lanes)
Turn Around - Queen’s Park at south end of Queen’s Park Crescent
Southbound - Queen’s Park (Southbound Lanes)
Southbound - University Avenue
Westbound - Wellington Street West (Full Roadway)

Dispersal Area: Metro Hall

The event is expected to be concluded by approximately 1 p.m.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.

On Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11 a.m., at 3929 Keele Street, Chief Mark Saunders, Esther Rhee from Autism Speaks Canada and McDonald’s franchisee Jon McDonald will launch a one-day-only fundraiser in support of Autism Speaks Canada.

TPS officers will be at seven McDonald’s locations in the northwest area of the city, helping staff, with $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot beverage going to support Autism Speaks Canada.

Media are welcome to attend the launch with Chief Saunders.

- Jane Finch Mall (1831 Finch Avenue West)

Sonali Chopra, 40, was last seen on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue area.

She is described as 5’6”, 140 lbs, medium build, with long, brown hair, brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black down-filled jacket, a cream-coloured top, and blue jeans. She was also carrying a transparent umbrella and a black purse.

Police are concerned for her safety and well-being.

Man, 22, faces nine charges in three gas-station robberies

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an investigation into three gas-station robberies.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, May 12, 2017, a man walked into a gas station in the Wilson Avenue/Jane Street area

- the man displayed a silver caulking gun, and robbed the attendant of pre-paid credit cards and money before fleeing

It is further alleged that:

- on Thursday, May 18, 2017, the same man walked back into the same gas station

- the man demanded the attendant open the cash register and activate the pre-paid credit cards he previously stole

- the attendant recognized the man from the previous robbery and complied with the demands

- the man then made several purchases at a nearby plaza

It is further alleged that:

- through investigation, the man's identity was determined and that he was responsible for another robbery

It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, May 14, 2017, the man walked into a gas station in the Dixon Road/Martin Grove Road area

- the man made a demand for cash, gesturing that he was armed with a gun

- the man fled with money

On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Khadr Mohamed, 22, of Etobicoke, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery
2) three counts of Use Imitation Firearm
3) Fraud under
4) Use Credit Card Data
5) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, courtroom 306.

Man, 20, and boy, 16, arrested in two violent robbery investigations

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of two arrests in two violent robbery investigations.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, officers responded to a call for a hold-up in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Fourteenth Street area.

It is alleged that:

- two males entered a variety store

- they selected a variety of fireworks

- they distracted an employee and ran out of the store with the stolen items

- the employee gave chase and caught one of them

- the male beat the employee to the ground, stomping on his head

- they then fled the scene

- the victim was hospitalized with several facial fractures

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 9 p.m., officers responded to a call for a robbery in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Dwight Avenue area.

It is further alleged that:

- four males approached two boys aged 17 and 16

- they robbed one of the boys of personal items

- they punched him in the face

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, Devonta Groves-Bennett, 22, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery
2) Assault Causing Bodily Harm

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, May 25, 2017, 10 a.m., room 206.

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, a boy, 16, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery
2) Assault Causing Bodily Harm

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, May 25, 2017, 10 a.m., room 204.

The boy cannot be named under the provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Boy, 16, arrested for posting intimate images online

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an investigation into the posting of intimate images online.

It is alleged that:

- a boy and a girl were in a relationship

- after the relationship had ended, unbeknownst to the girl, the boy posted intimate images of her online

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, the boy, 16, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Two counts of Publish Intimate Image
2) Uttering Threats

He was scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The boy cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to be aware of what their children are doing online, and to monitor their social-media profiles to prevent similar occurrences.
