Public Safety Alert, Kennedy Road and Progress Avenue area, Stolen medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of lost medication.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, May 1, 2017, at approximately 6 p.m., five containers of methadone were lost in the Kennedy Road and Progress Avenue area

- the medication, along with a cell phone and a tablet, were in a red-and-white Body Shop canvas bag

The pills could be harmful if ingested, especially to children.

Investigation into Threatening and Assault of Parking Enforcement Officer, Dundas Street West and Mavety Street area, Two men surrender to police, facing charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of two arrests in an investigation into a Threatening and Assault of a Parking Enforcement Officer.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at approximately 6 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer was on foot, enforcing municipal by-laws on Mavety Street, south of Dundas Street West

- two men approached the Parking Enforcement Officer in a vehicle and began yelling profanities at him

- the driver leaned out of the vehicle and threatened the officer

- the second man then exited the vehicle and assaulted the officer by spitting on him

- both men fled the area

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, Tiago Arezes-Reis, 19, of Toronto, surrendered to police. He has been charged with:

1) Threatening

On Thursday, April 27, 2017, Lucas Arezes-Reis, 22, of Toronto, surrendered to police. He has been charged with:

1) Assault Peace Officer

Both are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, May 15, 2017, 10 a.m.

Assistance sought with theft investigation, Greenwood Avenue and Gerrard Street East area, Photograph of stolen rescue dog Mary released, Update, Dog returned

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance locating a Jack Russell Terrier rescue dog named Mary.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, April 14, 2017, at 12 p.m., Mary escaped from her leash at home, in the Greenwood Avenue and Gerrard Street East area

On Monday, May 1, 2017, Mary was returned to her owners.

There is no criminal element to this investigation.

Chen Puah, 17, was last seen on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 9 p.m., in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue area, at the TTC North York Center subway station.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a missing girl.

Brianna Mendonca, 14, was last seen on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 7:30 a.m., in the
Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue West area

She is described as 5'4", average build, birthmark on left side of her neck, under her chin. She was last seen wearing a black superman hoodie and black shoes.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Assistance sought identifying man wanted in Sexual Assault investigation on TTC subway train, Yonge subway line, Security camera images of man released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at approximately 12 p.m., a 17-year-old girl was seated on a TTC subway train, heading northbound on the Yonge Street line

- after passing Wellesley station, a man sat beside the girl

- a few moments later, between Bloor station and Eglinton station, the man sexually assaulted the girl

- the girl left the subway train at Eglinton station

- the man also left the train and began to follow the girl

- the girl then began to walk towards a TTC employee, at which point the man was last seen making his way to street level, leaving the subway station

The man is described as 30-40, 5’0-5’6”, short, medium build, light-brown greying hair with a brush cut. He was wearing a green "army-coloured" winter jacket. (possibly with hood or hood on sweatshirt under jacket), royal-blue Adidas trackpants with three vertical strips on sides, black shoes with white tips, and a backpack with a cross-chest strap.

Assistance sought with Common Nuisance investigation, Liban Issa, 21, arrested, faces six charges, Mustafe Mohamed, 21, wanted, Photograph released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance with an investigation into numerous criminal offences throughout Toronto in the past year.

On Friday, April 28, 2017, police became aware of a group known as "Fuckery in the Six." They have posted multiple videos on social media accounts.

It is alleged that:

- two men approached people on the street, at restaurants and businesses

- the two men terrorized and harassed the people they came into contact with

- in some instances, the two men would jump over the counter and grab employees or steal food and other items

- the two men would video these encounters, then post them on social media accounts

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, Liban Issa, 21, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) two charges of Mischief Interfere with Property
2) two charges of Common Nuisance
3) Criminal Harassment
4) False Fire Alarm

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, 10 a.m., room 206.

Mustafe Mohamed, 21, of Toronto, is wanted. His photograph has been released.

Police are asking anyone who is captured on any of the videos, or who is aware of any of the locations, to contact police. At this point only three of the locations have been positively identified.

Police seek assistance identifying man in Sexual Assault investigation, Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East area

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance identifying a man involved in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in the Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East area, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a 24-year-old women boarded a TTC bus.

- the bus was traveling northbound on Sherbourne Street

- a man entered the bus

- the man sat beside the women

- the man sexually assaulted the women

- the man then quickly left the bus at the Sherbourne TTC station.

The man is described as late-30s-to-early-40s, black hair. He was wearing a beige-and-blue jacket, tan pants, and carrying a dark backpack.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 2:10 p.m., the Toronto Police Service announced that Mustafe Mohamed, 21, was wanted in a Common Nuisance investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 4:20 p.m., Mustafe Mohamed, 21, surrendered to police at 23 Division.

He has been charged with:

1) Mischief /Damage Property not Exceeding $5000
2) Common Nuisance
3) Criminal Harassment
4) Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, May 4, 2017, 10 a.m., room 206.

On Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., Chief Mark Saunders will join forces with Toronto District School Board Superintendents Shirley Chan and Anne Seymour and TDSB Trustee David Smith for the opening of May the Police 4th Be With You at Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute, 550 Markham Road.

This event, organized by TDSB's ER14 Family of Schools and 41 and 43 Divisions, will host over 500 students from local schools for a day of interactive activities that showcase service units of the Toronto Police Service.

With the first week of May focusing on mental health and well-being across the Toronto District School Board, the Toronto Police Service is pleased to join educators for a fun and informative day that will showcase student achievements and build on a sense of community with support from the police.

Members of various Service units will be in attendance and students will participate in Fit Pin and Shuttle Run activities. In addition, there will be an Obstacle Race between officers and TDSB staff.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance identifying a man.

On Sunday, April 16, 2017, at approximately 11:45 a.m., an unidentified man, now deceased, was located at St. George subway station.

He is described as 17-24, medium build, dark hair.

He was wearing a blue winter jacket with yellow piping, maroon pants with grey-and-black stripe, and flip-flop sandals.

This is not a criminal investigation. Police need help identifying this man.

Homicide #2/2017, Dylan Gill, 24, Media advisory, Thursday, May 4, 2017, 1 p.m., Headquarters, media gallery, News conference

On Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 1 p.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Homicide Detective Sergeant Mike Carbone, will update the media on the investigation into Homicide #2/2017.

On Monday, January 23, 2017, at 12:50 a.m., officers responded to a call for the sound of gunshots in the Islington Avenue and Milady Road area.

Police arrived at the scene and located a man in medical distress.

The man was taken by emergency run to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Dylan Gill, 24, of Toronto, was identified as victim in Homicide #2/2017.

The news conference will be available on the TOC and will be live-streamed.

Investigation into Assault on Parking Enforcement Officer, Edward Street and Yonge Street area, Man, 19, surrenders to police, charged

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in an investigation into an Assault on a Parking Enforcement Officer.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, April 28, 2017, at approximately 8 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer was enforcing municipal by-laws on Edward Street, just west of Yonge Street

- the officer placed a ticket on a vehicle which was parked illegally on Edward Street

- a short while after, he was confronted by a man who advised that he was the owner of the vehicle

- when the officer attempted to explain the circumstances under which the ticket was issued, the man became belligerent and verbally abusive

- unable to reason with the man, the officer returned to his vehicle

- the man then jumped into his own vehicle, did a U-turn, drove past the officer and spat on him

- the man fled the area in his vehicle

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, Michael Bedard, 19, of Toronto, surrendered to police. He has been charged with:

1) Assault Peace Officer

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, 10 a.m.

Police request assistance with Fraud Over $5000 investigation, Woman sought by police, Photograph of woman released

Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes is requesting assistance identifying a woman investigators believe tricked a mortgage lender into providing a $1.3 million mortgage on a property they did not own.

It is reported that:

- during January 2016, a woman contacted a mobile mortgage specialist and then applied for a mortgage on a property in the amount of $1.3 million

- the mortgage specialist was able to find financing through the bank and a mortgage was registered on the home

- the woman received $1.3 million through their real estate lawyer

- the real homeowner then received mortgage documents in the mail from the bank

- the homeowner called the bank and reported the mortgage fraud

- the bank then contacted the police

- the woman in this investigation used fake identification to personate the real homeowner.

Investigators are requesting assistance identifying the woman. Her photograph has been released.
