Public Safety Alert, Burrows Hall Boulevard and Purvis Crescent area

Toronto Police Service 42 Division is posting a Public Safety Alert.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, February 10, 2017, at approximately 3 p.m., two nine-year-old boys were walking in the Burrows Hall Boulevard and Purvis Crescent area.

- a man in a vehicle approached the boys and asked them to get into his car

- the boys ran away and the vehicle drove off

It is further reported that:

- on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at approximately 8 a.m., two ten-year-old boys and a five-year-old girl,were walking in the Burrows Hall Boulevard and Purvis Crescent area.

- a man in a vehicle approached the children and offered them a ride

- the children declined the offer

- the man was persistent but the children ran away, and the man drove off

The man is described as brown complexion, 35–45, wearing reading glasses. He may have been wearing a Blue Jays shirt and a Blue Jays baseball cap in one of the incidents.

The vehicle is described as a charcoal or metallic-grey, four-door sedan. In the second incident the vehicle was described as a small, silver, four-door vehicle.

Police seek assistance locating woman wanted in Identity Theft investigation, Bailey Cadot, 28

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a woman wanted in an Identity Theft investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, January 12, 2017, a woman rented a motor vehicle using stolen identification from a rental company

- the woman did not return the vehicle

- the vehicle was reported stolen

- the vehicle was later involved in a vehicle pursuit with the Orangeville Police Service

Bailey Cadot, 28, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Identity Theft
2) Vehicle Theft
3) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Other

She is known to use aliases.

Man wanted in Assault Cause Bodily Harm investigation, Mohamed Aadil Yusuf, 38

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a wanted man.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, September 26, 2015, a man assaulted a 37-year-old woman

- the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries

It is further alleged that:

- on Thursday, December 29, 2016, a man threatened a 34-year-old woman

- on Friday, December 30, 2016, the man called the woman again and threatened to harm her

Mohamed Aadil, 38, of Toronto, is wanted on a Warrant for:

1) two counts of Uttering Threats
2) Assault Cause Bodily Harm
3) five counts of Fail to Comply Probation

He is described as 5'9", 141 lbs., brown eyes, brown beard, and brown braided hair. He has a scar on his right upper lip, the left side of his neck and left side of his cheek.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

Ian Young, 51, was last seen on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at approximately 6 p.m., in Sudbury. Police believe he may be making his way back to the Greater Toronto Area.

He is described as 6’3", 200-220 lbs., short brown/grey hair, well-groomed with a close-cropped beard.

He was last seen wearing a black winter jacket with a suede collar, jeans, black running shoes, a black toque and carrying a black knapsack.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Two boys, 15 and 13, arrested in retail Robbery investigation, Marlee Avenue and Roselawn Avenue area

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 8:57 p.m., police responded to a call for a retail robbery at a Mini Mart in the Marlee Avenue and Roselawn Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- three boys entered a convenience store with their identities concealed by balaclavas

- two boys went behind the counter and confronted the store clerk

- one boy physically controlled the clerk, while the other boy was displaying a knife

- they then robbed the store clerk of cash and cigarettes

- a third unidentified boy acted as a lookout

- all three boys fled

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, following a foot pursuit, a 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with

1) Robbery with an offensive weapon
2) Disguise with intent
3) Fail To Comply Recognizance
4) Possession of Property obtained by crime (under)

He was scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, March 7, 2017, a 13-year-old boy was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Robbery with an offensive weapon
2) Disguise with Intent
3) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (under)
4) Fail To Comply Recognizance

He is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street, on Thursday March 9, 2017, 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing to identify the third culprit.

Neither boy can be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

#Fraudchat: Identity Fraud, Thursday, March 9, 2017, 8 p.m.

March is Fraud Prevention Month for Canadians to Recognize, Reject and Report Fraud. Reduce fraud by increasing fraud awareness.

On Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 8 p.m., we will be joined by members of the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to answer questions regarding Identity Fraud. Members of the public can follow Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes (@TPSFCU), Detective Gail Regan (@ReganFCU), Detective Constable Diane Kelly (@DKellyFCU) and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (@Canantifraud), on Twitter.

To follow #fraudchat, members of the public simply need to log on to Twitter from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST and follow the #Fraudchat hashtag. An application such as Tweetdeck, which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.

Fatal collision #10/2017, Bloor Street West at Kennedy Park Road, Man, 31, facing two charges

On Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 3:54 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision on Bloor Street West at Kennedy Park Road.

It is alleged that:

- a man, 31, was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima, westbound on Bloor Street West, approaching Kennedy Park Road in the eastbound passing lane

- a woman, 23, was driving a 2008 Kia Rio, eastbound on Bloor Street West, approaching Kennedy Park Road and collided with the westbound Nissan

- the Kia was then involved in a second collision, with a 2012 Chrysler, driven by an 84-year-old man

A woman, 38, a passenger in the Nissan, received life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where she was pronounced.

The driver of the Nissan has been identified as John Coakley, 31, of Ajax. He has been charged with:

1) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle cause death
2) Criminal negligence cause death

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, March, 8, 2017.

Personal injury collision #15/2017, Rexdale Boulevard and Entrance Road

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 12:49 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Rexdale Boulevard and Entrance Road.

It is reported that:

- a man, 90, was attempting to cross Rexdale Boulevard, near Entrance Road

- a man, 77, was driving a 2007 Jeep Patriot, eastbound on Rexdale Boulevard, approaching Entrance Road

- the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle as he attempted to cross Rexdale Boulevard

The 90-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Man, 41, facing 12 Child Pornography charges, Victoria Park Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East

On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, members of the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation Section executed a Criminal Code search warrant in the Victoria Park Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area.

It is alleged that:

- a man possessed and made available child sexual abuse material

Matthew MacLeod, 41, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Two counts of Possession of Child Pornography
2) Access Child Pornography
3) Two counts of Making Available Child Pornography
4) Attempt Make Child Pornography
5) Make Child Pornography
6) Two counts of Sexual Assault
7) Sexual Interference
8) Two counts of Sexual Exploitation

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 10 a.m.

Potvyn Lowe, 19, was last seen on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at approximately 10 p.m., in the Jane Street and Woolner Avenue area.

He is described as 5’9", 175 lbs., with short hair, and a short beard. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black athletic shoes with white laces. He was also wearing a black baseball cap that has a dollar sign toward the front.

Project Gator, Charge details

During the morning of Thursday, March 9, 2017, 11 Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants were executed in Toronto, the Hamilton area and Vancouver as part of Project Gator, a Toronto Police Service project targeting an illegal marijuana dispensary.

In Toronto, warrants were executed at the following Cannabis Culture locations:

- 461 Church Street
- 801 Queen Street West
- 711 Queen Street East
- 365 King Street West
- 3440 Lake Shore Boulevard West

In Hamilton, a warrant was executed at the following Cannabis Culture location:

- 275 King Street East

In Vancouver, a warrant was executed at the following Cannabis Culture location:

- 307 West Hastings Street

In addition, warrants were executed at private residences in Toronto, Stoney Creek and Vancouver.

Marc Emery, 59, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
2) three counts of Trafficking Schedule II
3) five counts of Possession for the Purpose Schedule II
4) five counts of Possession Proceeds of Crime
5) Fail-to-Comply Recognizance


Jodie Emery, 32, of Vancouver, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
2) Trafficking Schedule II
3) Possession for the Purpose Schedule II
4) two counts of Possession Proceeds of Crime


Chris Goodwin, 37, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
2) Possession for the Purpose Schedule II
3) Possession Proceeds of Crime


Erin Goodwin, 31, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
2) Fail-to-Comply Recognizance


Britney Guerra, 29, of Stoney Creek, was arrested and charged with:

1) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
2) three counts of Possession for the Purpose Schedule II
3) three counts of Possession Proceeds of Crime

The five arrested are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday, March 10, 2017, 10 a.m., room 103.

Media advisory, Friday, March 10, 2017, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., McDonald’s, 1966 Eglinton Avenue East, 41 Division - Coffee with a Cop

41 Division’s “Coffee with a Cop” event will take place on Friday, March 10, 2017.

Officers from 41 Division will attend McDonald’s at 1966 Eglinton Avenue East, and sit down with community members in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee.

Events are relaxed, informal and open for discussions about the issues community residents feel are important.

All community members are invited to attend. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon.

Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.

International Women's Day March, Saturday, March 11, 2017, 1 p.m.

On Saturday, March 11, 2017, the International Women's Day Committee will be holding their annual march in the downtown core to celebrate International Women's Day.

At 11 a.m., the participants will assemble at the University of Toronto's Medical Science Auditorium, 1 King's College Circle.

At 1 p.m., the participants will form up and proceed along the following route:

Eastbound: Hart House Circle (full road)
Eastbound: Wellesley Street West
Northbound Queen's Park Crescent East (northbound lanes)
Eastbound: Bloor Street West (eastbound lanes)
Southbound: Yonge Street (southbound lanes)
Eastbound: Gerrard Street East (eastbound lanes)
Southbound: Church Street (soutbound lanes)
Westbound: Gould Street (full road)
Dispersal Area: Gould Street Jorgenson Hall (Ryerson)

It is anticipated that the event will be concluded by 2:30 p.m. Rolling or temporary lane closures will occur during this event.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.

The TTC will be given special consideration and allowed to cross through gaps at the following locations:
• Yonge Street and College/Carlton Streets (for east and west TTC)
• Wellesley Street and Yonge Street (for east and west TTC)
• Bay Street and Bloor Street (for north and south TTC)
