Chief's Gala 2016, Thursday, November 3, 2016, 6 p.m., Allstream Centre

On Thursday, November 3, 2015, at 6 p.m., at the Allstream Centre, Exhibition Place, Chief Mark Saunders with Master of Ceremonies Jennifer Keesmaat, the Chief Planner for the City of Toronto, and Ken Shaw of CTV News, will host the Chief’s Gala in support of Victim Services Toronto. This event will have more than 850 guests in attendance.

Proceeds from this event support an organization that is highly valued, respected and essential, Victim Services Toronto. This evening is an important community event and a celebration of a vitally important and unique partnership between the Toronto Police Service and Victim Services Toronto. Victim Services Toronto restores, rebuilds and enhances the quality of life of those affected by serious crime and sudden tragedies. They are the only agency in Toronto providing immediate on-site support to victims of crime and sudden tragedies. They offer invaluable programs and services, helping close to 20,000 victims annually.

The Chief’s Gala is a high-profile event that takes place, annually, in November. Its attendance of over 850 guests includes police chiefs and senior police leaders from across the province, members from all levels of government, and members from the business community. In 2015, $260,000 was raised at the Chief’s Gala.

Man, 32, charged for Indecent Act on TTC

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Indecent Act investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, June 23, 2014, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a man was on a TTC subway at Bloor Station

- he committed an indecent act

On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, the Toronto Police Service arrested Francois (Frank) Lesieur, 32, of Toronto. He has been charged with:

1) Indecent Act

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, 2 p.m.

On Friday, November 4, 2016, at 9 a.m., in Maurice Cody Public School, 364 Belsize Drive, Chief Mark Saunders will help kick off the 22nd Annual Toronto Police Auxiliary Toy Drive.

This event supports 3,000 children, youth, and their families in need, from the Scarborough area. Auxiliary officers from 41, 42, and 43 Divisions are seeking charitable and generous support from the community, local businesses and students from area schools.

Your efforts, and those of our Auxiliary officers, will help bring the spirit of the season to a child in need

Media support to assist with public awareness of this worthwhile event is crucial to the success of the Toy Drive.

All donations of a new unwrapped toy are welcome. We are seeking toys for boys and girls of all ages.

Your donations may be dropped off at the following locations:

41 Division: 2222 Eglinton Avenue East
42 Division: 242 Milner Avenue
43 Division: 4331 Lawrence Avenue East

This is the latest instalment of 14 Division's "Fugitive Friday." We are looking for Tobias Knoll, 35, of Toronto.

He is wanted on a warrant for:

1) Assault
2) Assault with Weapon
3) Assault with Intent To Resist Arrest
4) Overcome Resistance By Attempt To Choke
5) Mischief Under

He is described as 5’10", 180 lbs., with blonde hair and brown eyes. He has tribal tattoos on his forearms.

Public assistance sought in robbery investigation, Queen Street West and Cameron Street

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying two women wanted in a robbery investigation.

On Sunday, October 23, 2016, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to a call for a robbery in the Queen Street West and Cameron Street area.

It is reported that:

- a 56-year-old woman was in a bar

- she was assaulted by another woman

- during the assault her phone was stolen

- the suspect, and an accomplice, fled in a taxi

The suspect is described as approximately 5’8”, with a medium build, dark blond or brown hair, wearing prescription glasses and a grey or light blue button-down shirt.

Her accomplice is described as approximately 5’5”, with an average build.

Security camera images of the two women are now released.

Homicide #10/2016, Sylvia Consuelo, 34, Update, Arrest made, Najib Amin, 29, Faces First-degree Murder

On Saturday, January 30, 2016, at approximately 4:45 a.m., police responded to a radio call for a sudden death at an apartment complex at 121 Kendleton Drive.

On Saturday, January 30, 2016, at approximately 4:45 a.m., police responded to a radio call for a sudden death at an apartment complex at 121 Kendleton Drive .

It is reported that:

- acquaintances attended the residence to socialize with a 31-year-old woman

- the acquaintances found the woman deceased

The woman has been identified as Sylvia Consuelo, 34, of Toronto.

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, a post-mortem examination was conducted. The cause of death will not be released for the time being.

Police are appealing to witnesses who may be able to provide any information on Sylvia Consuelo's whereabouts from Friday, January 29, 2016, onward.

1) First-degree Murder

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 2201 Eglinton Avenue West, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 206.

Police seek assistance in fatal collision #69/2016, College Street, east of Palmerston Boulevard

On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 7:48 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at College Street, east of Palmerston Boulevard.

It is reported that:

− a 62-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were attempting to cross College Street, east of Palmerston Boulevard

− a 30-year-old man was driving a 2005 Mazda 3, eastbound on College Street

− a 46-year-old man was driving a 2015 Honda CRV, westbound on College Street

− as the woman attempted to cross College Street, she was struck by the eastbound Mazda, and subsequently struck by the westbound Honda

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and the man suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

On Thursday, November 3, 2016, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

Toronto Police Services Board Chair Andy Pringle and Toronto Police Service Superintendent Frank Bergen will be hosting a community consultation session on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at City Hall, at 100 Queen Street West.

Members of the public are encouraged to read the Transformational Task Force Interim Report, in particular the report's 24 recommendations. The report can be seen here.

The session will include remarks from the Chair and the Superintendent and break-out tables designed to get the public's input on the future of policing. The consultation session will also be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.

Members of the public are also encouraged to submit their thoughts via the online portal at The Way Forward - Have Your Say.

Missing woman, Bathurst Street and Dundas Street West area, Marie Noelle Mohan, 54, Update, Photograph released

Marie Noelle Mohan, 54, was last seen on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at approximately 11:30 p.m., in the Bathurst Street and Dundas Street West area.

She is described as 5’3”, slim build, grey/black hair. She was last seen wearing a purple jacket, red pants, and black boots.

Police seek assistance in personal injury collision #70/2016, Eastbound Gardiner Expressway, west of the Don Valley Parkway

On Friday, November 4, 2016, at 2:27 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway, west of the Don Valley Parkway.

It is reported that:

− a man, 21, was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle with a passenger, eastbound on the Gardiner Expressway

− the motorcycle struck the centre concrete barrier and the 20-year-old male passenger was ejected from the motorcycle

− the motorcycle continued eastbound on the Gardiner Expressway, where the rider lost control of the motorcycle

The 21-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and the 20-year-old man suffered serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

Homicide #58/2016, College Street and Manning Avenue

On Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 2:25 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault in progress.

It is reported that:

- a group of men, visiting from the USA, were at a function in the College Street and Manning Avenue area

- there was a second group of 7-9 men, some of whom attacked a man who was part of the first group

- the man received life-threatening injuries

- he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced

- the group of men from the attack fled south on Manning Avenue towards Dundas Street

Two male suspects are described:

- white, 26-27, slim build, short black hair, black top, black pants

- white, 26-27, large build (described as looking like a football player), black fitted top, black skinny pants with a full beard

Investigation into assault on Parking Enforcement Officer, Front Street and Bathurst Street area, Man, 48, charged

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Assault Peace Officer investigation.

On Friday, November 4, 2016, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer was conducting her duties in the Front Street and Bathurst Street area.

It is alleged that:

- the Parking Enforcement Officer placed a ticket on the windshield of a car which was parked illegally

- she was confronted by a man

- the man assaulted her

Mohammed Alam, 48, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Assault Peace Officer

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, December 12, 2016, 11 a.m., courtroom 111.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a woman involved in a Robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a 55-year old woman was inside a bar in the Queen Street West/Cameron Street area

- another woman assaulted her and stole her cell phone

- the other woman fled in a taxi and was dropped off in the King Street West and Bathurst Street area

The other woman is described as approximately 5’8”, with a medium build, and dark-blonde or brown hair. She was wearing prescription glasses, and a grey or light-blue button-down shirt.

Homicide #58/2016, College Street and Manning Avenue area, Victim named

On Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 2:25 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault in progress that is now being investigated as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Julian Jones, 26 of Maryland, U.S.A.

It is reported that:

- he was in Canada with a group of friends to attend a bachelor party

- he was the victim of an unprovoked attack outside a bar in the College Street and Manning Avenue area.

Homicide investigators are particularly interested in speaking to people who were at the bar and anyone who was with the group that fled southbound towards Dundas Street West after the assault. Anyone who has video or photos of the incident is also asked to contact police.
