Missing woman, Bloor Street West and Keele Street area, Priya Khalsa, 28

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Priya Khalsa, 28, was last seen on Thursday, February 26, 2016, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Bloor Street West and Keele Street area.

She is described as 5'4", slim build, long black straight hair, brown eyes, large tattoo of a blue lotus (flower) on her left hand as well as a multi-coloured tattoo of another type of flower on her right hand, and a tattoo of a scroll with black ink script on her right forearm.

Police are concerned for her safety.

On Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 6 p.m., at 1828 Eglinton Avenue West, 13 Division, in partnership with Christ Church - British Methodist Episcopal Church, proudly embarks on another year honouring the men and women who serve our country and community.

As we have presented over the years, we will continue to honour those who risk their lives to serve our community and country by paying tribute to officers from Toronto Police Service, Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Paramedic Services, the RCMP, members of the armed forces and other leaders in our community.

This year's keynote address will be given by Marva Wisdom, Director of the Black Experience Project, a study initiated by the Environics Institute with partners Ryerson University and the Atkinson Charitable Foundation. Ms. Wisdom is also the founding Chair of the Guelph Black Heritage Foundation who acquired and are restoring a British Methodist Episcopal Church associated with the Underground Railroad of Southwestern Ontario. She is an avid volunteer and champion for social support agencies and causes.

“Our achievements over the history of our service for our community are now extended beyond borders, colors and creeds. It is truly compelling and inspiring to have such a partnership with the Toronto Police Service and, mainly, 13 Division over these years,” said the Rt. Rev. Dr. Chester Searles.

Chief Mark Saunders, Unit Commander of 13 Division Superintendent Scott Baptist, as well as MP Kirsty Duncan, (Minister of Science), MPP Mike Colle, along with many more police and emergency services dignitaries and special guests, will also be in attendance.

“Collaborations such as these continue to be significant milestones for the Eglinton/Dufferin community and the men and women who have served the people of this area over the years. As we continue to engage, we hope that relationships built through community policing initiatives such as these extend all over the City of Toronto,” said Superintendent Baptist.

Robbery suspect arrested, loaded firearm recovered, Kipling Avenue and John Garland Boulevard area

On Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 7:55 a.m., police were called to the Kipling Avenue and John Garland Boulevard area for a report of a street robbery.

It is alleged that;

- a man, 23, walking on the street, was approached by the accused who demanded he turn over money to him

- the man refused and the accused produced a handgun

- the accused fled the area on foot and, after a search, was arrested by police

- a loaded handgun was recovered subsequent to his arrest

Jerome Campbell, 23, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
2) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
3) Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
4) Careless Storage of Firearm
5) Possession Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
6) Possession Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
7) Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking
8) Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance
9) Use Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence
10) Robbery with an Offensive Weapon

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Monday, February 29, 2016.

Homicide #14/2016, 560 Pharmacy Ave, Man charged with Second-Degree Murder

On Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 1:15 p.m., the Toronto Police Service responded to an emergency call at 560 Pharmacy Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a man with obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Sunday, February 28, 2016, Shafaq Joya, 30, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1. Second-Degree Murder

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Monday, February 29, 2016, 10 a.m., courtroom 412.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday, February 29, 2016.

On Monday, February 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Detective Constable Joel Manherz, Sex Crimes Unit Child Exploitation Section, will update the media on the investigation into Stephen Joseph Schacter.

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a Child Pornography investigation.

On Friday, November 6, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for a man viewing child pornography on a public computer at the Employment and Social Services Centre at Lawrence Square.

It is alleged that:

- a man was in possession of images of child pornography

- he was viewing them on a public computer

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, investigators from the TPS Child Exploitation Section executed a search warrant in North York

Stephen Joseph Schacter, 55, of Toronto, was arrested and is now charged with:

1) Possession of Child Pornography

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, 10 a.m., room 306.

It is further alleged that:

- Stephen Joseph Schacter was an elementary school teacher for the Eitz Chaim schools between 1986 and 2004

- he was the office administrator at the United Synagogue Day School between 2005 and 2009

- he also worked as a private tutor from 2009 until 2011

- a review of the seized evidence has police concerned that he may have had inappropriate contact with students in the past

Police urge anyone believing Stephen Joseph Schacter had inappropriate contact to call investigators so the incident can be investigated or to receive support.

Missing woman, Keele Street and Grandravine Drive area, Marjorie Benoit-Stewart, 80

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing woman.

Marjorie Benoit-Stewart, 80, was last seen on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 7 p.m., in the Keele Street and Grandravine Drive area.

She is described as 5'6", 100 lbs., with brown eyes and short grey hair. She was last seen wearing a grey winter jacket, a dark skirt, white shoes, a hat, wire-rim glasses and is carrying multiple bags.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Police request assistance identifying two men in Theft investigation, King Street West and John Street area, Security camera images released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance identifying two men wanted in a Theft investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 11:35 a.m., two men entered a LCBO store in the King Street West and John Street area.

- they each grabbed a bottle of alcohol, concealed it under their clothing, and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items

- the men then assaulted two store security guards who attempted to stop them

- both men were last seen running westbound on King Street

Security camera images of the men are released.

Woman arrested in 1989 Attempt Murder investigation, Dale Doherty, 60, Two men still outstanding

On Saturday, October 28, 1989, at 12:03 am, the Toronto Police Service received a radio call to attend the Park Vista Drive and Dawes Road area.

It is alleged that:

- a 42-year old man was operating an Able Atlantic taxi

- he had picked up two men and a woman who had asked to be driven to the Park Vista Drive and Dawes Road area

- after arriving in this area, he was assaulted with a weapon by the two men and woman

- the man sustained life-threatening injuries

- the taxi was stopped

- once the man was assaulted, he lost control of the taxi which accelerated and struck several parked cars before coming to rest on the embankment of a swimming pool

- emergency responders, called to the scene by residents, located the man behind the wheel of the taxi

The incident was investigated by 54 Division in 1989 and 1990, however the suspects were not identified by police at that time.

During fall 2015, the investigation was re-opened by 54 Division and, on Saturday, February 13, 2016, a woman was arrested.

Dale Doherty, 60, of Toronto has been charged with:

1) Attempt Murder

She is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Monday, March 21, 2015, 2 p.m., room 505.

There are currently two men involved in this investigation police are seeking to identify. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Giuseppe Difede, 55, charged with fraud involving $460,000, Danforth Avenue and Pape Avenue area, Police believe there may be other victims

On Friday, February 26, 2016, a man was arrested by 55 Division in connection with a Fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- Giuseppe Difede, 55, entered a bank in the Danforth Avenue and Pape Avenue area and identfied himself as another client of the bank

- he was able to provide all the necessary information to convince the teller that he was the other client

- he was able to wire $460,000 from the victim’s personal bank account to a bank in Greece.

On Friday, February 26, at 10:22 a.m., Giuseppe Difede, 55, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Fraud Over
2) Identity Theft
3) Personation
4) Fail to Comply Probation

He appeared in court at College Park on Friday, February 26, 2016.

The Toronto bank was able to retrieve the funds several days later.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Man facing Child Pornography charge Stephen Joseph Schacter, 55, Update, new victims result in additional charges, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of further charges in a Child Pornography/Sexual Assault investigation.

On Friday, November 6, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for a man allegedly viewing child pornography on a public computer at the Employment and Social Services Centre at Lawrence Square.

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, investigators from the TPS Child Exploitation Section executed a search warrant in North York. Stephen Joseph Schacter, 55, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Possession of Child Pornography

Stephen Joseph Schacter was an elementary school teacher for the Eitz Chaim schools between 1986 and 2004

He was the office administrator at the United Synagogue Day School between 2005 and 2009

He also worked as a private tutor from 2009 until 2011

On Thursday, February 24, 2016, Stephen Joseph Schacter was arrested and further charged with:

1) two counts of Sexual Assault
2) Sexual Interference
3) Sexual Exploitation
4) Gross Indecency

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 10 a.m., room 306.

Police believe there may be other victims.

This investigation is continuing. Currently, the alleged sexual offences date back to March 8, 1982. Police urge anyone who may have been subjected to inappropriate contact by Stephen Joseph Schacter to call investigators so the incident(s) can be investigated and support can be provided.

On Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 11:30 p.m., police were called to the Scarlettwood Court and Scarlett Road area in response to the sound of gunshots.

It is reported that;

- police arrived at the scene and found a man in the driver's seat of a car with obvious sigs of trauma

- the man was pronounced at the scene

- he has been identified as Bryan Agyei, 22 of Brampton

The post-mortem examination is scheduled for today.

Two suspects were captured on security cameras fleeing the scene towards Scarlettwoods Court

Police request assistance with stabbing investigation, 71 Thorncliffe Park Drive, One man arrested and two other men to be identified

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a stabbing investigation.

It is alleged that:

- in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 20, 2016, a 48-year-old man was stabbed in an apartment at 71 Thorncliffe Park Drive.

- he suffered life-threatening injuries

On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, members of 53 Division executed a search warrant and arrested Maverick Lavina, 26, of Toronto. He was charged with:

1) Attempted Murder

2) Aggravated Assault

3) Forcible Confinement

4) Possession of a Weapon

He appeared in court at College Park on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 10 a.m., room 501.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying the two other men who were involved and were with Maverick Lavina at the time of the alleged stabbing. They are described as:

1) Southeast Asian, light complexion, approximately 23 years old, shorter than 5'6", with visible acne around the mouth. He was wearing a toque or a hat and he was armed with a handgun

2) Black, 18 years old, and 5'9" to 6'.

Public Safety Alert, Online dating robbery, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a robbery investigation

It is reported that:

- on Monday, December 14, 2015, in the evening, a 26-year-old man used an online dating app called "Grindr" and was in contact with a man

- on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 8:46 a.m., the man attended the victim's home, unexpectedly, in the York Street and Bremner Boulevard area

- the victim opened the door and two men entered the home

- the men took the victim's belongings and an altercation occurred

One man is described as white, and the other man is described as black. They both appeared to be in their twenties.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Man wanted for Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Yonge Street and Carlton Street area, Farrukh Noor Mohammad, 18

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public about a man wanted in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, December 11, 2015, at 11 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was in the Yonge Street and Carlton Street area

- she was approached by a man who was armed with a knife

- the man sexually assaulted and robbed her

- the man then fled the area

The man has been identified as Farrukh Noor Mohammad, 18, of Toronto. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for:

1) Sexual Assault
2) Sexual Assault with a Weapon
3) Possession of a Weapon
4) Robbery
5) Uttering Threats

He is described as 5'6", 145 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police. Do not approach him. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Man, three boys, and a girl arrested in robbery investigation, Two handguns seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of arrests in a robbery investigation.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2016, police responded to a radio call in the Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area.

A 16-year-old boy had reported that he was assaulted and robbed by four unknown men.

Police conducted an investigation and a 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Robbery
2) two counts of Possession of a Narcotic

He appeared in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Thursday, January 28, 2016, 10 am.

The investigation was continued by 54 Division Major Crime Unit. On Monday, February 29, 2016, four search warrants were executed by the Toronto Police Service. A man, three boys and a girl were arrested.

It is alleged that:

- during the execution of the search warrants, police located two loaded handguns, cash, narcotics, and stolen property.

Colton Sheenan, 18, of Toronto was charged with:

1) two counts of Careless storage of a firearm
2) two counts of Possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon knowing its possession is prohibited
3) two counts of Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
4) two counts of Store firearm contrary to regulations
5) two counts of Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
6) Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered
7) Possession of Marihuana,
8) two counts of Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
9) two counts of Possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking
10) Possession of proceeds of crime

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Monday, February 29, 2016, 2 p.m., room 507.

A 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Possession of a narcotic


A 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Possession of cocaine


A 15-year-old boy of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery


A 17-year-old girl, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) two counts of Careless storage of a firearm
2) two counts of Possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon knowing its possession is prohibited
3) two counts of Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
4) two counts of Store firearm contrary to regulations
5) two counts of Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
6) Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered.


The three boys and girl were scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Monday, February 29, 2016, 2 p.m., room 1.

The boy arrested on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, will be additionally charged with:

1) robbery.


The three boys and girl cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act

Police request assistance with shooting investigations, Security camera video of suspects released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying men wanted in two shooting investigations in the Neptune Drive and Rajah Street area.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 12:08 p.m., an unknown man was walking in the area of Neptune Drive

- the man is seen walking by 155 Neptune Drive and into 145 Neptune Drive

- the same man exits 145 Neptune Drive and walks towards 155 Neptune Drive and out of camera view

- a number of shots were fired at a ground-floor apartment at 155 Neptune Drive

- the unknown man is seen running from the area towards a school and public hockey arena

He is described as wearing black pants, black ¾-length jacket with hood, black sneakers, and a black mask covering half of his face.

It is also reported that:

- on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at approximately 1:55 a.m., the same apartment, in the area of Neptune Drive and Rajah Street, was shot at again

- two unknown men, wearing dark hooded tops, entered the Neptune Complex

- these two men, carrying firearms, fired several shots into a unit on the first floor

- as the men were leaving the Neptune Complex, they fired an additional 3-4 shots

It is believed a dark-coloured sedan was involved in the shooting.

Police are releasing the security camera video from the area and are requesting the public's assistance identifying the suspects.

On Friday, February 26, 2016, John Jagdharry, 38, of Toronto, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1) Attempt Break-and-Enter
2) Uttering Threats

He appeared in court at Old City Hall, on Saturday, February 27, 2016, 10 a.m., room 101.

Public Safety Alert, Lost medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of lost medication.

On Monday, February 29, 2016, at 7 a.m., a container with approximately 100 Oxycodone pills was lost on the TTC 34 Eglinton Avenue bus.

The pills could be harmful/fatal if ingested, especially to children.
