Woman arrested on Canada Wide Warrant for 2013 home invasion investigation, Faces five charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a home invasion investigation:

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, a man and a woman forcefully entered a home on Harbord Street.

- the man and the woman threatened the occupants of the home with a knife

- two of the occupants suffered minor injuries

- the man and the woman took the homeowner's wallet and fled

- a credit card from the wallet was later used to make purchases at a sporting goods store

On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, Hold Up issued a news release asking for the public's assistance. A Canada Wide Warrant was put out for the woman involved.

On Friday, October 23, 2015, the woman surrendered to police. Jennifer Mulumba, 29, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Possession of Property obtained by Crime

She was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Friday, October 23, 2015, courtroom 507.

Attempted abduction of boy, 9, Thorneclifffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard area, Update, Person of Interest has been identified

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance identifying a Person of Interest in an investigation into an attempted abduction.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, between 8:35 and 8:55 a.m., a nine-year-old boy was walking to school in the Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard area.

Search warrant executed, man arrested, faces 35 charges, King Street and Spadina Avenue area, Guns, dynamite, ammunition and drugs seized

On Saturday, October 24, 2015, members of the Toronto Police Gun and Gang Task Force applied for a CDSA search warrant on a premises in the King Street and Spadina Avenue area.

On Sunday, October 25, 2015, the search warrant was executed. Wing Wayne Woo, 39, of Toronto, was arrested.

It is alleged that the following firearms were seized:

1) A Remington Model 7400
2) A SKS semi-automatic rifle
3) A VZ-58 semi-automatic firearm
4) A Tec 9 semi-automatic firearm
5) A desert eagle .44 calibre handgun with ammunition
6) A Kriss Vector .45 ACP semi-automatic Rifle

It is further alleged that:

- three sticks of dynamite were seized along with a quantity of drugs.

He has been charged with:

1) six counts Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) six counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
3) Possession of a Prohibited Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
4) eight counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm
5) six counts of Possession of a Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
6) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
7) Possession of a Prohibited Device (Silencer)
8) Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
9) Possession of a Prohibited Device (Magazine)
10) Careless Storage of a Ammunition
11) Unlawful Possession of Explosives
12) Possession for the Purpose Schedule 1 GHB
13) Possession for the Purpose Marihuana

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, October 26, 2015, 10 a.m., court room 101.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance identifying a man in a Fraud investigation.

It is reported that :

- on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at approximately 10 a.m., a man attended a financial institution in the St. Clair Avenue West and Dufferin Street area

- the man used fraudulent identification and withdrew money from someone else's account

The man is described as medium complexion, 20-25 with a medium build. He was wearing a yellow T-shirt and camouflage baseball cap.

Missing woman, Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue area, Julia Chung, 38

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance locating a missing woman.

Julia Chung, 38, was last seen on Monday, October 26, 2015, at approximately 11 a.m., in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue area.

She is described as Asian, 5’3”, 125 lbs., long black shoulder-length hair, wearing a long black trench coat, navy-blue shirt, light-blue scarf, black Lululemon bellbottom pants, and black boots. She was last seen carrying a white puffy coat and a black leather clutch purse.

She may be driving a 2001 white Lexus with Ontario licence plate ATHB 828.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Missing man, Birchmount Road and Kingston Road area, Warren Mitrowski, 50

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing man.

On Monday, October 26, 2015, at 4 p.m., Warren Mitrowski, 50, was last seen in the Birchmount Road and Kingston Road area.

He is described as white, 5’4”-5’7”, 170 lbs., heavy build, blue eyes, short thick brown hair, hearing aids in both ears, wearing black thick-rimmed glasses. He was last seen wearing grey shorts with black trim, black T-shirt with a picture of a shark, black velcro shoes, long white-and-orange socks with eyeballs on them, a toy spy watch, and a camouflage baseball hat. He also answers to the name of Michael Anderson.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Christian Ploog, 19, was last seen on Monday October 26, 2015, at 3:30 p.m., in the Melbert Road and Warlingham Court area.

He is described as 6’5", with a muscular build. He has short, brown, collar-length hair. He was last seen wearing a black-and-blue hooded sweatshirt and grey sweatpants. He was carrying a beige leather bag.

Personal injury collision, Finch Avenue West at Sentinel Road, Man, 48, facing three charges

On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at approximately 2:35 a.m., a marked police vehicle was involved in a collision at Finch Avenue West at Sentinel Road.

It is alleged that

− a 48-year-old man was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry, westbound on Finch Avenue West, approaching Sentinel Road

− a marked police vehicle was parked facing southbound on Finch Avenue West, on the east side of Sentinel Road

− the police vehicle was struck by the Toyota Camry

The occupants of the police vehicle were taken to hospital.

The driver of the Toyota has been identified as Kiet Huynh, 48, of Toronto.

He has been charged with:

1. Impaired driving
2. Over 80 milligrams operation
3. Fail to comply with probation order

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on October 27, 2015, 2 p.m., courtroom 306.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting public assistance with an Aggravated Assault investigation.

On Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 12:16 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for a stabbing in the Spadina Avenue and College Street area.

It is reported that:

- on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 12:16 p.m., a man was in the Spadina Avenue and College Street area.

- he became involved in verbal argument with an unknown man

- the man attempted to walk away from the area and into a nearby store

- as he entered the store, he was stabbed in the back by the unknown man

- the unknown man then fled the area

The unknown man is described as white, approximately 6’0”, with a medium build and a black beard. He was wearing a dark toque, dark winter coat, and a grey hooded top.

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of a Sexual Assault Investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Monday October 26th, 2015, at 9:30 PM, a woman was working at a restaurant in the Overlea Boulevard and Thorncliffe Park Drive area.

- an unknown man asked her to help him find the bathroom

- when she showed him the bathroom, he sexually assaulted her

- the unknown man left, and co-workers came to the woman's aid

He is described as 20-23, 5’8”, medium build. He has a dark complexion and short dark hair. He was wearing a black, sleeveless, puffy vest, and a tracksuit with three white stripes down the side of the arms and legs.

Media advisory, Thursday, October 29, 2015, 7 a.m. – 12 p.m., Fairview Mall – parking lot, southeast corner, 1800 Sheppard Ave East, Joint forces operation

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 7 a.m. a joint forces enforcement operation will begin at Fairview Mall – parking lot, southeast corner, 1800 Sheppard Ave East. This represents a joint education and enforcement traffic safety initiative in partnership with:

• Toronto Police Service - Traffic Services (TSV), and 33 Division
• Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Aurora and 407 Detachments
• OPP Highway Safety Division (HET)
• York Regional Police

This initiative will be a one-day public awareness and enforcement initiative focusing on drivers in the Toronto area who engage in the “Big 4” leading causes of death and injury on provincial and municipal highways:

• Aggressive Driving
• Distracted Driving
• Impaired Driving
• Unrestrained occupants in motor vehicles

Approximately 30 officers will participate in this event to ensure the highest level of police visibility, in particular, during peak commuter periods along both directions of Highway 404, from 16th Avenue in Markham (Regional Municipality of York) to the Don Valley Parkway at Bayview Avenue/Bloor Street East ramp (in the City of Toronto).

Officers will also focus their enforcement and education efforts on driver compliance in the use of High Occupancy Vehicle lanes where present.

#Fraudchat: Protecting yourself online, Thursday, October 29, 2015, 1 p.m.

Cyber Security Month takes place during October. It was created to educate internet users about online security and the simple steps they can take to protect themselves. The campaign's goal is to bring together all levels of government, the public and private sectors, and the international community, to help internet users be safer online.

Cyber Security Month aims to reduce the number of Canadians falling victim to cybercrime by creating awareness, sharing prevention tips and creating informed internet users.

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 1 p.m., Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes will be joined by our special guests the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and Symantec Canada to answer questions on cyber security. Members of the public can follow @Canantifraud and @SymantecCanada using the hashtag #Fraudchat on twitter.

To follow #fraudchat, members of the public simply need to log on to Twitter from 1 p.m., to 2 p.m., EST and follow the #Fraudchat hashtag. An application such as Tweetdeck, which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.

#Fraudchat is a bi-weekly Twitter chat that takes place on a Thursday from 1 p.m., to 2 p.m., EST on Twitter. Launched in November 2012, this program seeks to educate and exchange ideas with the public about financial crimes and fraud. He is described as light complexion, 6’0"– 6’2", medium build, 175-180 lbs., brown eyes with a shaved head. He has a large diamond earring in each ear. He was last seen wearing a charcoal-grey Roots track suit.

He was last seen in a 2006 black Land Rover 4-door SUV with licence plate BDWJ 226.
