Traffic disruptions in the downtown core

The American League East Champion Toronto Blue Jays are hosting the American League West Champion Texas Rangers at the Rogers Centre on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

It is anticipated nearly 50,000 people will attend the game. Road closures will be in effect at the end of the game to assist with the safe exit of pedestrians and motorists leaving the area.

Due to these road restrictions and closures, traffic disruptions will occur within the downtown core.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public to:

- make use of alternate routes to your destination

- utilize public transit

- car-pool where possible

- consider avoiding the area of the Rogers Centre, if not attending the game

- extend courtesy to all while travelling

- give yourself lots of extra time

14 Division's "Fugitive Friday," Karl Anthony Khan, 19, Update, Man arrested for Robbery

On Friday, October 9, 2015, Karl Anthony Khan, 19, of Brampton, was arrested by police in Owen Sound. He was turned over to the Toronto Police Service and was charged with:

1) Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, October 10, 2015.

Man faces Child Pornography charges, David Birkenshaw, 60

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, members of the Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes Child Exploitation Section executed a search warrant in the Bloor Street East and Rosedale Valley Road area.

It is alleged that:

- a man was accessing and saving child sexual abuse images/videos

David Birkenshaw, 60, of Toronto, has been arrested. He is charged with:

1) two counts of Possession Child Pornography
2) Access Child Pornography

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, 10 a.m.

Suresini Sivasuthan is described as 5’0”, 132 pounds, long black hair.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 2:25 p.m., Armando Santos, 80, was last seen in the Bloor TTC subway station at Yonge Street and Bloor Street.

He is described as white, 5’7”, grey hair, slim build. He was last seen wearing a white sweater with zipper, blue jeans, green baseball cap with writing, and carrying a bag with blue flowers on it.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Sexual Assault Alert, Man wanted in Sexual Assault investigation, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a Sexual Assault investigation:

It is reported that:

- on Thursday, October 1, 2015, during the evening rush hour, a 26-year-old woman was onboard a TTC street car travelling westbound on Dundas Street West, near Bay Street

- she was sexually assaulted by a man standing behind her

- the man exited at Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue

The assault was witnessed by another passenger who briefly spoke with the woman.

The man is described as in his late 50s to early 60s, wearing glasses and carrying a dark-leather briefcase.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Sydney Schaefer, 21, was last seen on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at approximately 12 a.m., in the Leslie Street and Lesmill Road area.

She is known to frequent the Moss Park area of downtown Toronto.

She is described as 5’1”, 130 lbs., with long wavy brown hair, and wears glasses and a nose ring. She was last seen wearing burgundy velour leggings, a grey sweatshirt (possibly hooded) with 1” leather strips down the sleeves and black ankle boots with gold chains.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Man charged at Toronto Blue Jays game

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest following an incident during game five of the American League Division Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers.

It is alleged that:

- a man threw a can of beer into the crowd

- the can missed spectators

- spectators brought the incident to the attention of, and identified the suspect to, authorities

Albert Grummitt, 33, of Caistor Centre, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

1) Mischief - Interfere with Property

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 11 a.m., courtroom 111.
