The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a sexual assault investigation.

See previous release.

On Friday, May 3, 2013, Anthony Robertson, 22, was arrested and charged with:

1) Sexual Assault,
2) Robbery,
3) Overcoming resistance in commission of offence Choke,
4) Fail to Comply Recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, room 412, at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.

This is 51 Division's latest version of "Project Captivate." They are requesting the public's assistance locating a wanted man.

Matthew OKeefe, 27, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Unlawfully in Dwelling
2) two counts of Theft Over
3) two counts of Possession of Property obtained by Crime
4) two counts of Personation with intent
5) eight counts of Theft Under
6) two counts of Unauthorized use of computer
7) Possession of a Controlled Substance
8) three counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance

He is described as white, 5’8”, 135 lbs., brown eyes with brown hair. He is known to frequent the downtown core.

Toronto Crime Stoppers, a collaboration involving police, community and media as a way to solve and prevent crime, will host its 17th Annual Toronto Crime Stoppers Ball with Chief William Blair on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 5:30 p.m, at the Liberty Grand, 25 British Columbia Road.

For nearly 30 years, Toronto Crime Stoppers has been instrumental in helping to change the face of criminal activity and build a safer Toronto. In 2012, Toronto Crime Stoppers received almost 10,000 anonymous tips including ones that assisted investigators making arrests related to the Toronto Eaton Centre and Danzig Street shootings.

The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Chief William Blair will be in attendance.

Toronto Crime Stoppers is run by a group of citizen volunteers who serve on the Board of Directors to oversee the program. Board members meet regularly to manage and promote the program, raise funds and authorize reward payments. The Toronto Police Service provides a coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations, police officers to promote the School Crime Stoppers program and staff to take tips called into the Crime Stoppers 222tips hotline. Cash rewards of up to $2,000 are offered to people who contact Crime Stoppers and their information leads to an arrest. For more information visit www.222tips.com.

Missing man, Lawrence Johnson, 60

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Lawrence Johnson, 60, was last seen on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 12:30 a.m., in the Mount Pleasant Road/Broadway Avenue area.

He is described as black, 5’6", thin build, 120-140 lbs., short afro and goatee. He has a humped back. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with black print, black cotton pants, and black Crocs.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Three men face charges in INKAS armed robbery investigation, Photographs of seized property released

On April 30, 2013, a news release was issued requesting the public's assistance with a security services company robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, April 14, 2013, in the early-morning hours, the INKAS Security Services Company was robbed by two men

On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, a series of 12 search warrants were executed in both Toronto and Peel Region, in homes and vehicles.

Three people have been arrested and charged:

Cecil Stewart, 27, of Brampton, is charged with:

1. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
2. Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (over)
4. Possession of Proceeds of Crime
5. two counts of Possession for the Purpose Marihuana (over)
6. Possession for the Purpose Heroin
7. Possession for the Purpose Controlled Substance

Aundre Hartwell, 29, of Brampton, is charged with:

1. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
2. Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (over)
4. Possession of Proceeds of Crime

Devon Hartwell, 27, of Brampton, is charged with:

1. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
2. Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
3. Disguise with Intent
4. Forcible Confinement
5. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (over)
6. Possession of Proceeds of Crime


It is alleged that:

- four men conspired to commit a robbery at INKAS

- three men drove to the location of the security facility

- two men disguised themseves, one armed with a gun, and robbed an employee

- a third man waited outside with a get-away car

- a large quantity of cash was stolen

- the two men then got back into the waiting car where all three men drove off

The accused are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, room 101, 10 a.m.

As a result of the search warrants, it is alleged that:

- a large quantity of cash, three motorcycles and two motor vehicles, furniture and appliances were seized

- a quantity of drugs was also seized

Investigation is ongoing. One man remains outstanding.

He is described as black, 5’6", 111 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. He also has numerous tattoos, including one on the right side of his neck.

Missing girl, Vanessa Bajnauth, 13

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing girl.

Vanessa Bajnauth, 13, was last seen on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 4 p.m., in the Panorama Court area.

She is described as brown, 5'5"-5'6", 90 lbs., brown eyes with black, straight, long hair. She was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a black tank top, a white varsity jacket, a black backpack, possibly blue or red baseball cap. She has both ears pierced, and may be wearing hoop earrings.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Woman faces two charges in fraud investigation, Photograph of woman released

On Friday, May 3, 2013, police arrested a woman in connection with a rental fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between March and April 2013, the victim responded to an ad on the Kijiji website regarding a condo for rent in the Sheppard Avenue East/Leslie Street area

- the victim met with the accused and was shown the apartment

- the victim signed a rental agreement drafted by the accused

- the accused collected first and last month’s rent in cash

- the victim received a receipt for the deposit

- the victim learned that the apartment was in fact not for rent and the accused was not authorized to rent the apartment

Febe Anne Yap, 31, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) two counts of Fraud Under

She is scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Thursday, May 9, 2013, room 507, at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, police arrested a man in connection with a robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, March 13, 2013, the accused entered a taxi cab in the Yonge Street/Harlandale Avenue area

- the accused directed the victim to the Burnett Avenue/Addington Avenue area

- the accused choked and robbed the victim

Nikoloz Matiashvili, 31, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Assault with a Weapon
2) Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, room 101, at 9 a.m.

Fugitive captured, Angel Leonel Parada Herrera, 29

On Tuesday, May 8, 2013, the Toronto Police Service Fugitive Squad arrested a man under the Extradition Act at the request of the United States Marshals Service.

Angel Leonel Parada Herrera, 29, was arrested at his home in Kitchener. He is wanted by authorities in South Carolina for First Degree Sexual Assault on a six-year-old girl.

He is a Canadian citizen, which required an Extradition warrant to be issued for his arrest.

Parada Herrera is currently being held pending extradition.

Police request assistance with robbery investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

- between Friday, April 19, 2013 and Tuesday, May 7, 2013, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., a series of robberies occurred in the Annette Street/Fairview Avenue area

- the suspect(s) are targeting teenagers that have left for lunch or completed school for the day

- the suspect(s) are stealing money and smartphones from their victims

The first suspect is described as black, 16-25, 5’8"-6’, heavy build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with Adidas in white letters on sleeves. He has a gap between front teeth and chin strap beard.

The second suspect is described as black, 16-25, 5’10"-6’ with a chin strap beard. He was last seen wearing all black clothing, including a black hooded sweatshirt.

Arrest made in sexual assault investigation, Shaun Carlson, 32, faces 10 charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at approximately 5:15 a.m., a 61-year-old woman was parked in front of a coffee shop in the Finch Avenue West/Weston Road area

- a man approached and entered her car

- the man demanded money and credit cards from the woman and ordered her to drive

- the man indicated he had a gun, however none was seen

- the woman was taken to a secluded area near Jane Street/St. Clair Avenue West where she was sexually assaulted

- the man then drove the car to a bank and withdrew a quantity of money from the woman's account

- the man then drove to the Finch Avenue West/Weston Road area where he fled on foot

On Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Shaun Carlson, 32, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Kidnaping
2) Forcible confinement
3) Threatening death
4) Assault
5) Sexual assault
6) three counts of Theft under ($5,000)
7) Fail to comply with probation
8) Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, in courtroom 306, on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 9 a.m.

Public assistance sought identifying witness in shooting/robbery investigation, Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 1448 Lawrence Avenue East, Security camera footage and stills released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a witness in a re-opened cold case robbery/shooting investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, two masked men entered the Swap $hop at 1448 Lawrence Avenue East

- the two men were armed with a handgun and a baseball bat

- during the robbery, a struggle ensued with one of the employees

- one of the men shot the employee, causing severe internal injuries to his intestine and spine
