On Sunday, May 10, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., a pharmacy in the Lakeshore Boulevard West and Mimico Avenue area was robbed.

See previous news release.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2015, Nicholas Pereira, 18, surrendered to police.

He is charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
3) Assault with a weapon
4) Administer a Noxious Substance
5) Disguise with intent
6) Possession of Property obtained by Crime

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Monday, June 15, 2015, 9 a.m., courtroom 202.

Man faces Child Pornography charges

On Thursday, April 23, 2015, members of the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation Section executed a search warrant in Toronto.
.
It is alleged that:

- a man was accessing and saving child sexual abuse images/videos

On Thursday, May 14, 2015, David Keyes, 52, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Possession Child Pornography
2) Access Child Pornography

He appeared in court at College Park on Thursday, May 14, 2015, room 501.

14 Division's "Fugitive Friday," Wilfred Martin, 42

This is the latest instalment of 14 Division's "Fugitive Friday." We are looking for Wilfred Martin, 42, of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, May 1, 2014, a man assaulted a woman

- on Friday, May 23, 2014, the man stabbed the same woman with a knife

On Monday, May 11, 2015, a Warrant was issued for the man. He is wanted for:

1) Assault
2) Assault With Weapon

He is described as 6', 220 lbs., with brown eyes, shaved head, black-and-grey goatee, and a heavy build.

He is to be considered violent. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.

Man charged in Sexual Assault investigation, Dewan Syed Mosiur Reza, 69, facing four charges, Police believe there may be more victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Sunday, May 3, 2015, a six-year-old boy attended the Summer Islamic School, that runs out of the Danforth Islamic Centre at 3018 Danforth Avenue.

- the boy was approached by the accused within the building

- the accused showed the boy a sexually explicit video

- the accused then proceeded to sexually assault the boy

On Thursday, May 14, 2015, officers from the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre arrested Dewan Syed Mosiur Reza, 69, of Toronto.

He was charged with:

1) Make Available Sexually Explicit Material to Person Under or Believed Under 16 years for Specific Criminal Offences
2) Invitation to Sexual Touching Under 16 Years of Age
3) Sexual Assault
4) Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16 Year of Age

He appeared in court at College Park on Friday, May 15, 2015, room 507.

Police believe there may be more victims.

The accused had access to other children at the school. In addition, the accused had access to children who attended two home daycares in the City of Toronto.

From 1999 – 2009, the accused was present in a home daycare in the Crescent Town neighborhood of Toronto. That daycare in the Danforth Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue area is no longer operational.

From 2009 – present, the accused has had access to children in a daycare at 155 Heale Avenue.

Personal injury collision #17/2015, Fail-to-Remain, Queen Street East, east of Broadview Avenue, Man, 23, faces three charges

On Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:11 a.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Queen Street East, east of Broadview Avernue.

It is alleged that:

- a 23-year-old man was driving a 2005 Kia, eastbound on Queen Street East, east of Broadview Avenue

- a 29-year-old woman was attempting to cross Queen Street East, east of Broadview Avenue

− the vehicle struck the woman

- the driver of the Kia failed to remain at the scene of the collision

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver has been identified as Matthew Dalton, 23, of Toronto.

He has been charged with:

1. Impaired operation of a motor vehicle cause bodily harm
2. Over 80 mgs operation cause bodily harm
3. Fail to stop at accident cause bodily harm

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, May 16, 2015, room 101, 10 a.m.

United Jewish Appeal Walk With Israel, Monday, May 18, 2015, 9:50 a.m., Road closures

On Monday, May 18, 2015, the United Jewish Appeal Walk With Israel will take place.

Participants will assemble at Coronation Park, starting at approximately 9 a.m. and the event for both race (9:50 a.m. start) and walk (10 a.m. start) will follow this route:

Formation Area: Coronation Park starting (Lake Shore Boulevard West & Strachan Avenue)
- westbound on Lakeshore Boulevard to Dan Leckie Way
- northbound on Dan Leckie Way to Fort York Boulevard
- westbound on Fort York Boulevard to Spadina Avenue
- westbound on Bremner Boulevard to York Street
- northbound on York Street to Wellington Street
- westbound on Wellington Street to Strachan Avenue
- southbound on Strachan Avenue to Princes' Gate
- westbound on Princes’ Gate to New Brunswick Way
- southbound New Brunswick Way to pedestrian bridge east of New Brunswick Way

Dispersal area: Ontario Place at approximately 3 p.m.

Expect partial road closures for most of the day.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.

The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.

Ashbridge's Bay Victoria Day Fireworks Display, Monday, May 18, 2015, 10 p.m., Traffic congestion and safety advice

The Ashbridge's Bay Victoria Day Fireworks will take place on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 10 p.m. The fireworks display will last approximately 14 minutes, and can be seen on the Boardwalk from Coxwell Avenue to Victoria Park Avenue.

Approximately 30,000 people are expected to attend this event.

Due to the large crowds, drivers can expect major traffic delays and limited parking in the area.

In past years, heavy congestion has resulted in numerous road closures in the area, including Lake Shore Boulevard East.

Parking Enforcement Officers will be patrolling the area, issuing tickets and towing illegally parked vehicles.

Police recommend spectators use public transit to attend this event. The TTC will be providing additional bus service to accommodate crowds. Those attending the fireworks are advised that they must be onboard a southbound Coxwell Avenue or Woodbine Avenue bus by 9 p.m. to ensure they arrive on time for the display.

As a reminder to those attending the Ashbridge's Bay Fireworks, setting off personal fireworks in a public park is dangerous and unlawful. Fireworks brought into the area will be seized by police. Police will be patrolling and enforcing city by-laws, including the Liquor License Act.

Jozsefine Algacs, 59, was last seen on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 2 p.m., in the Van Horne Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue area.

She is described as 5'2", with dark hair and a medium build.

She speaks Hungarian only.

Police are concerned for her safety.

On Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 3:25 a.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Bloor Street West, west of Indian Road .

It is reported that:

- a 65-year−old man was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry, eastbound on Bloor Street West, approaching Indian Road

- a 43-year-old man was attempting to cross Bloor Street West, west of Indian Road

- the man was struck by the vehicle

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Michael Gily, 63, was last seen on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 8:45 a.m., in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

He is described as 6'0", 170 lbs., balding grey hair and walks with a limp. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a green jacket, an orange sweater and black shoes.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Police seek public assistance with Aggravated Assault investigation, Warden Avenue and Finch Avenue East area, Security camera images of taxi released

Police are seeking public assistance with an Aggravated Assault investigation.

On Saturday, May 16, 2015, at approximately 5:30 a.m., police received a call for a stabbing in the Warden Avenue and Finch Avenue East area.

It is reported that:

- a 19-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at a unknown location

- the man was taken to the Warden Avenue and Finch Avenue East area by taxi

- the man was later taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Police would like to get in contact with the taxi driver who drove the man to the Warden Avenue and Finch Avenue East area. The cab is described as a late-model, dark Chrysler 300, with no distinguishing markings other than a taxi sign on the roof.

Ghazal Sohail, 26, was last seen on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at approximately 2 p.m., in the Ellesmere Road/Morningside Avenue area.

She is described as 4'11", with dark eyes, and straight, black, shoulder-length hair with grey in the front. She was wearing a sky-blue scarf over her head and shoulders, a black velvet coat, black pyjama pants and multi-coloured shoes.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Public Safety Alert, Recent residential Break-and-Enters, Danforth Road and Midland Avenue area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of recent daytime Break-and-Enters in the Danforth Road and Midland Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- the suspect(s) entered the residential homes through the front door, while the homeowner was in the backyard

- once inside the home, the suspect(s) took the contents of the homeowner's purse or wallet

Police are asking the public to contact the police immediately if they see anything in a residential area that appears to be suspicious. Police are also asking residents to ensure they secure their home, even while they are out for short periods of time, such as doing yard work, or sitting at the rear of their property. Police also suggest people keep their valuables in a discreet location.

Two men arrested by paid duty officer, Bay Street/Front Street area, Imitation firearm seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests and the seizure of an imitation firearm.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at approximately 5:20 a.m., a paid duty officer, working in the Bay Street/Front Street area, was approached by citizens.

It is alleged that:

- two men were panhandling around Union Station

- one of the men was armed with a gun

- the men brandished the gun while approaching people passing by

- the paid duty officer searched the area, located, and arrested, the two men

It is further alleged that:

- an imitation firearm was seized

Ryan O'Campo, 29, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
2) Fail to comply with Probation

Kuganesan Wijayarathnam, 22, of no fixed address, is charged with:

1) Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
2) Fail to comply with Recognizance

They are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, room 101.

Sexual Assault Alert, Woman sexually assaulted on TTC bus, Man wanted

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

On Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 10 a.m., police were called for a sexual assault on a TTC bus.

It is reported that:

- a 26-year-old woman boarded the westbound 95 York Mills TTC bus at approximately 8:50 a.m.

- while standing on the crowded bus, she was sexually assaulted by a man

The man is described as black, 30-40, 5'8", with a medium build, and short hair with a receding hairline. He was wearing a blue-and-white plaid shirt with short sleeves and dark pants.

Homicide #16/2015, Danforth Avenue and Coxwell Avenue, Police asking witnesses to contact investigators

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing homicide investigation.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m., police responded to the sound of gunshots in the Danforth Avenue and Coxwell Avenue area.

It was reported that:

- police arrived on scene and located a man, 21, suffering from obvious injuries

- the man was taken to hospital via emergency run

- the man was pronounced at hospital

TPS Homicide is investigating.

The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending a post-mortem examination.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who was in the Danforth Avenue and Coxwell Avenue area at the time of the homicide.
