Fatal collision #49/2014, Sheppard Avenue East, near Abbotsfield Gate

On Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 6:09 p.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Sheppard Avenue East, near Abbotsfield Gate.

It is reported that:

- a 24-year-old man was driving a 2015 Land Rover Evoque, eastbound on Sheppard Avenue East, near Abbotsfield Gate, in the curb lane

- an 80-year-old man was attempting to cross Sheppard Avenue East, from the north side to the south side

- the man was struck by the vehicle

The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

Brandon Heron, 30, was last seen on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue. area.

He is described as white, 5'7", 230 lbs., with balding brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, black pants and a black top.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Public Safety Alert, Series of purse-snatch Robberies, Bathurst Street and Front Street area

The Toronto Police Service would like to warn the public about a series of purse-snatch Robberies on Sunday, December 28, 2014, in the Bathurst Street and Front Street area.

Investigators are seeking the public's assistance identifying two wanted men.

On Sunday, December 28, 2014, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a woman, 28, was walking along Portugal Square near Adelaide Street.

It is reported that:

- two men approached her

- the men demanded her purse

- one man took out a gun and shot rounds into the ground, away from the woman

- they fled the area and were last seen on Tecumseth Street

On Sunday, December 28, 2014, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a woman, 26, was walking on Fort York Boulevard near Grand Magazine Street.

It is reported that:

- she was approached from behind by two men

- they grabbed her and demanded her purse

- she complied and they fled

- they were last seen on Bathurst Street

On Sunday, December 28, 2014, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a woman, 25, was walking on Wellington Street West and Spadina Avenue.

It is reported that:

- she was approached by two men

- she was pushed to the ground

- they grabbed her purse and fled the scene

- they were last seen on Draper Street

On Sunday, December 28, 2014, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a woman, 20, was walking at the rear of 350 Queen's Quay West.

It is reported that:

- she was attacked from behind by two men

- one man grabbed her in a headlock or choke hold

- they demanded her purse

- she refused

- the other man indicated he had a gun

- she was forced to the ground and dragged, suffering cuts and bruises

- the men gave up and fled the area

The men suspected in these robberies are:

Suspect #1 is described as black, 5'10"-6'0", 18-25, thin build, wearing dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect #2 is described as black, 5'7"-5'11", 18-25, medium build, dark clothing and a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Police consider these men to be armed and dangerous. Do not approach them. If located, call 9-1-1.

On Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 2 p.m., on the southwest corner of Liberty Street and Hanna Avenue, Homicide investigators will update the media on the investigation into Homicide #2/2012.

The mother and sister of Mike Pimentel will attend the news conference and speak to the media. In addition, Homicide Detective Tam Bui will release the final three images as part of his widely covered social media efforts to identify the person responsible for the homicide.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests in an investigation into a series of purse-snatch Robberies.

On Tuesday, December 30, 2014, police warned the public about a series of purse-snatch Robberies on Sunday, December 28, 2014, in the Bathurst Street and Front Street area.

On Tuesday, December 30, 2014, a 14-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

On Wednesday, December 31, 2014, a 14-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery

He is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Wednesday, December 30, 2014.

The names of the two boys cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Riley Courchene, 29, was last seen on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 5:30 p.m., in the Victoria Street and Shuter Street area.

She is described as white, 6'1", 165 lbs., and has long black hair. She was last seen wearing a blue-and-white plaid peacoat, light-coloured blue jeans, black boots and a black scarf.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Sexual Assault Alert, Birchmount Road and Finch Avenue East area, Update, Police believe Chinese women are being targeted

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a sexual assault investigation and requesting their assistance identifying the suspect.
It is reported that:

- on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at approximately 8 p.m., a man attended a 43-year-old woman's apartment building in the Birchmount Road and Finch Avenue East area

- the man was invited into the apartment by the woman, because he claimed to be interested in subletting the unit

- while inside the apartment, the man tied up the woman and sexually assaulted her

- the man then pulled out a gun, pointed it at the woman and robbed her of her personal items

- the man fled many hours later

The man is described as being of Asian descent, 5'9" with a medium build. He was wearing a dark pea coat, dark-blue toque, dark-coloured scarf, blue jeans, light-brown/tan shoes or boots, and a black or grey satchel-style knapsack.
Police believe the suspect is targeting Chinese women.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Homicide #2/2012, Mike Pimentel, 24, Update, final three images of Person of Interest released as part of social media campaign

On Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 2:48 a.m., police responded to a call for a stabbing near 171 East Liberty Street.

It is reported that:

- police located a man suffering from trauma to his body

- he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died

The victim has been identified as Mike Pimentel, 24, of Toronto

Today, Homicide Detective Tam Bui has released the final three images in his widely covered social media efforts to identify the person responsible for the homicide. The man is classified as a Person of Interest.

He is described as Caucasian, mid-twenties, 5'6"-5'10", slim build, and has a short haircut (almost shaved) believed to be light in color. He was wearing a ¾-length black jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, light jeans and white running shoes.

Homicide investigators are requesting the man, or anyone who knows his identity, to come forward and speak with police.

- she was approached by a man in a dark SUV

- the man offered the woman a ride home

- the man then drove the woman to a remote area and sexually assaulted her

- the man drove away and left the woman in the remote area

The man is described as brown, 40, 5'8"-5'9", with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and black dress pants.

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to investigations into Break-and-Enters from offices in the downtown core. The targeted areas are high-rise office towers along Yonge Street, Bay Street and York Street.

Donald Joseph Francoeur, 55, of Toronto, is wanted on the following:

1) Break, Enter and Commit
2) four counts of Theft Under
3) Suspension of Statutory Release

It is alleged that:

- he is currently entering business premises in the downtown core by following a employee into secure office areas

- he casually walks throughout the office and removes personal property from desks, coats and purses

- he engages office staff, when challenged, and advises that he is from I.T., a repairman for the photocopier or that he is visiting another employee

He was last seen wearing a black North Face ¾-length winter coat, white T-shirt, black jeans, black-and-red Air Jordan running shoes and a grey Chicago Black Hawks baseball cap.
