The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating stolen jewellery in connection with a break-and-enter investigation.

It is reported that:

-On Saturday April 12, 2014 someone entered a home in the area of Avenue Road and Lawrence Ave West.

-a quantity of jewelry with great sentimental value

Photographs of the stolen items have been released.

On Monday, April 14, 2014, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a woman, 23, was riding the subway between Greenwood Station and Broadview Station.

It is reported that:

- she was approached by an unknown man

- the man sexually assaulted her

The man is described as Aboriginal, 5'11", 180 lbs., long brown hair, clean-shaven, wearing black pants and a dark sweater.

Arrest in Bank Robbery Investigation "Pleather Bandit," Gustav Khan, 51

On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Toronto Police Service Hold Up held a news conference requesting the public's assistance identifying outstanding bank robbery suspects.

On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 4:10 p.m., the Bank of Montreal was robbed at King Street West and Dufferin Street .

The suspect was referred to in the press release as the "Pleather Bandit."

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, as a direct result of a tip from the public, a man was arrested and charged.

Gustav Khan, 51, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Robbery

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, April 17, 2014, 10 a.m.

#Fraudchat: Home Renovation Scams and Door-to-Door Sales, Thursday, April 17, 2014, 9 p.m.

During spring, police receive many complaints about home repair and renovation scams and high-pressure door-to-door sales for services such as driveway paving.

Tonight, at 9 p.m., Consumer Protection Ontario will participate in #fraudchat and will provide information and tips on how people can avoid getting scammed when having work done on their home.

Consumer Protection Ontario will also participate in #fraudchat on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 9 p.m., and will answer questions on consumers' rights when dealing with door-to-door salespeople.

Consumer Protection Ontario is an awareness program from Ontario's Ministry of Consumer Services. It offers information on consumer rights and public safety.

Members of the public can follow Consumer Protection Ontario on Twitter at @ontarioconsumer and can find information about consumer protection topics on the Consumer Protection Ontario website and Facebook page.

To follow #fraudchat, members of the public simply need to log on to Twitter from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Thursday nights and follow the #Fraudchat hashtag. An application such as Tweetdeck, which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.

#Fraudchat is a weekly Twitter chat that takes place every Thursday from 9 p.m., to 10 p.m., on Twitter. Launched in November 2012, this program seeks to educate and exchange ideas with the public about financial crimes and fraud. Police arrest man in Luring investigation, Fidai Nasir, 52

The Toronto Police Service has been conducting an investigation of a man wanted in the Luring of two girls.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, April 7, 2014, a girl, 16, was standing on the sidewalk in the Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street area

- the man drove up to the girl

- he engaged her in conversation, attempting to get her to come for a ride

- the girl refused and ran away, alerting an adult, who called police

It is further alleged that;

- on Saturday, April 12, 2014, a girl, 13, was walking along the sidewalk in the Coxwell Avenue and Danforth Avenue area

- the man drove up alongside her

- he tried to convince her to get in the car with him

- the girl ran to a nearby house and alerted an adult, who called police

- the man was driving a 2009 brown, four-door Nissan car, bearing the licence plate BTBZ 844.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2014, Fidai Nasir, 52, of Toronto, was arrested. He faces the following charges:

1) Criminal Harassment (two counts)

On Wednesday, April 15, 2014, he appeared in court at College Park, court room 501, 10 a.m.

On Monday, April 14, 2014, the Toronto Police Service requested the public's assistance identifying a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, March 29, 2014, a 28-year-old woman was befriended by a man in the Queen Street East/Broadview Avenue area

- the man then sexually assaulted her

On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, David Cummins, 25, of Toronto, surrendered to police. He is charged with:

1) Sexual Assault
2) Robbery
3) Administer Noxious Substance

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, courtroom 501, 2 p.m.

Police seek public assistance identifying man and woman involved in Aggravated Assault investigation, Security camera video of man and woman released

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance identifying a man and a woman involved in an aggravated assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 1:20 a.m., an altercation took place inside Maison Mercer, a nightclub, at 15 Mercer Street

- a man and a woman assaulted a 29-year-old woman

- the victim was pushed by the female suspect and punched in the face by the male suspect

- the 29-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries

The female suspect is described as white, with long brown hair, wearing a light-coloured top.

The male suspect is described as white, bald, wearing a light-coloured long-sleeve top.

Jijie Yu, 28, was last seen on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 3:30 p.m., in the Weston Road and Highway 401 area.

He is described as Asian, 5'9", 130 lbs., short black hair, brown eyes and wearing glasses. He was last seen wearing a black sweater and blue jeans.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Man arrested in Child Pornography investigation, Carl Mckinnon, 49, faces three charges

On Thursday, April 17, 2014, members of Sex Crimes Child Exploitation Section, with assistance from Intelligence Services - Technological Crime, executed a search warrant in the Sherbourne Street and Carlton Street area.

As a result of the search warrant, a man was arrested.

It is alleged that:

- the man obtained child pornography from the internet

- he was in possession of child pornography on the date of his arrest

Carl Mckinnon, 49, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Possession Child Pornography
2) Make Available Child Pornography
3) Accessing Child Pornography

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park, Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 2 p.m.

Police request assistance with Theft Under investigation, Photographs of suspect and his vehicle released

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a Theft Under investigation.

On Friday, March 21, 2014, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a man entered a coffee shop in the Bloor Street West and Spadina Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- the man stole another patron's laptop and cell phone and ran out of the store

- once outside the store, he got into a late-model, grey, four-door Chrysler 200 sedan and drove off, westbound, on Bloor Street West

Police are seeking the public's assistance identifying the man.

He is described as black, 20-30, 5'7"-5'9", with a medium build. He was wearing a black Moose Knuckles-brand jacket with fur around the hood, dark pants and had on a pair of prescription glasses.

He was videotaped on the CCTV system and images of the suspect and his vehicle are attached to this news release.

On Sunday, April 20, 2014, the annual Beaches Easter Parade will take place at 2 p.m. The procession will start from Queen Street East and Munro Park Avenue and continue along Queen Street East to Woodbine Avenue.

A full road closure will take place on Queen Street East, and parts of Nursewood Road, Woodbine Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard East. A number of secondary roads will also be closed, affecting traffic flow in the area.

Road closures: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.:
Queen Street East (partial road), Munro Park Avenue to Fallingbrook Road

Road closures: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.:
Queen Street East (full road), Munro Park Avenue to Fallingbrook Road
Nursewood Road (full road), Queen Street East to 24 Nursewood Road

Road closures: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
Queen Street East (full road), Woodbine Avenue to Fallingbrook Road

Road closures: 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
Woodbine Avenue (full road), Queen Street East to Lakeshore Boulevard East
Lakeshore Boulevard East (full road), Coxwell Avenue to Woodbine Avenue

TTC service will be re-routing buses during the event.

This event will take place regardless of weather conditions.

Members of the public should anticipate significant traffic delays in the area.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a Theft Over investigation.

On Friday, April 4, 2014, at approximately 10:30 p.m., three men entered a hotel in the Queen Street West and York Street area.

It is alleged that:

- a man had loaded his belongings onto the bellman's cart as he checked into the hotel

- one of the three men stole the man's bag from the cart as the other two stood watch

- the three exited the hotel and were last seen walking towards Richmond Street West.

The first man is described as black, 20-30, 5'10" with a medium build. He was wearing a black jacket with a grey hoodie underneath and dark pants.

The second man is described as brown, 20-30, 5'8", with a thin build. He was wearing a black toque, black winter jacket with white hood-liner, light blue jeans and dark shoes.

The third man is described as white, 20-30, 5'8", with a thin build. He was wearing a black toque with a red band, a black bomber-style coat, blue jeans and black shoes.

Images of the men were captured by security surveillance.

On Saturday, April 19, 2014, an argument took place in the Kingston Road and Main Street area.

It is alleged that:

- the man became enraged and began to kick, choke and punch the victim to the ground

- he fled the area when security arrived.

Gary John Wiszniowski, 33, is wanted for:

1) Assault Cause Bodily Harm
2) Choking


He is described as white, 5’9”, 141lbs., with short brown hair, green eyes, with a thin moustache.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a theft investigation.

On Friday, March 14, 2014, at approximately 8 p.m., a man walked into a retail store located at Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East, and stole a number of items.

It is alleged that:

- the man walked into the store and collected a quantity of items such as children’s clothes and large boxed items

- the man exited the store without paying for the items

He is described as white, 30-40 years-old, blonde medium-length hair, clean shaven, wearing a dark jacket, grey striped scarf, dark pants, brown shoes, and carrying numerous bags.

On Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 9 a.m., at Ledbury Park Elementary and Middle School, located at 95 Falkirk Street, the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ministry of Transportation, will embark on a four-week pedestrian safety education campaign entitled, “Walk Your Kids to School Challenge”.

The Pedestrian Safety Campaign “Walk Your Kids to School Challenge” is a public awareness campaign that is aimed at increasing pedestrian safety among school-aged children and reducing vehicle-pedestrian conflicts around school areas.

The “Walk Your Kids to School Challenge” goal is to:
• Increase awareness on pedestrian safety
• Reduce collisions and injuries in school zones
• Reduce traffic congestion during drop-off and pick-up times
• Reduce parking issues on school property

The contest is open to any public elementary school in urban areas within the province of Ontario. The four week contest is a challenge between classes in schools to have the most number of students who walk with a parent or guardian instead of being driven to and from school. Public education materials as well as other collateral materials will be provided to participating schools.

The kick-off for this event will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Ledbury Park Elementary and Middle School, 95 Falkirk Street. The event will run from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

All pedestrians are encouraged to observe the following safety rules:


• Do the BRIGHT thing! - Wear bright or light-coloured clothing or reflective strips when possible, when walking in dusk or darkness.
• Be alert, visible and aware of what is around you at all times on any road.
• Cross the street at marked intersections and crosswalks.
• Obey traffic signals and signs.
• Look all ways before you cross the street.
• Watch for traffic turning at intersections or entering and leaving
driveways.
• Cross the road when traffic has come to a complete stop and make sure drivers see you before you cross.
• Play in a safe area away from road traffic or near parked cars
• Do not wear distracting equipment such as headphones when crossing the road.
• Walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic, when there are no
Sidewalks available.

Pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility; please do your part!
