Three imitation firearms seized after officers respond to gun call, Spadina Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard West area

Three air pistols have been recovered by the Toronto Police Service as part of an investigation into reports of a person with a gun.

At approximately 11.30 a.m., on Thursday, May 20, 2021, police responded to a call for a man with a gun in the Spadina Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West area.

It is reported:

- a man was holding a gun next to a tent on an encampment site

- officers immediately responded and searched the area to locate the man

- during their inquiries, they discovered three air cartridge pellet guns in the same area the man was witnessed standing

- for public safety reasons, the imitation firearms were seized

The man was described as having a tanned complexion, in his 30s, slim, with short grey hair, wearing a grey shirt and dark pants.

Officers are working to identify him and locate him.

Although air pellet guns are not illegal, they can seriously injure people and animals. They have also been known to be used in crimes such as robberies and hold-ups, as they often look like real guns.

He is described as 6'1", 160 lbs., short black hair, and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweater, black pants, and black running shoes.

Arrests made in firearm investigation, Gerrard Street West and Yonge Street, Kristopher Pietila, 36, Danielle Borrie, 31

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of two arrests made in a firearm investigation.

On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 12:30 p.m., officers attended a domestic assault call in the Yonge Street and Gerrard Street West area.

It is alleged that:

- a women reported she had been held hostage by a man and women who had assaulted her and were in possession of a firearm and a large quantity of drugs

- officers arrived and arrested two individuals

On Thursday May 20, 2021, officers executed a search warrant at a nearby premise and a large quantity of drugs and a firearm were seized.

Property seized included:

- a 9 mm Smith and Wesson pistol

- $2,410.00 in cash

- 1 round of ammunition

- 1324.01 gms of Fentanyl

- 4.01 gms of Carfentanyl

- 617.3 gms Cocaine

- 510.27 gms Methamphetamine

- 88.64 gms Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB)

- 28.42 gms Alprazolam (Xanax)

- 55.96 Unidentified pills

- multiple scales

- 5 cell phones and 17 SIM cards

Kristopher Pietila, 37, of Barrie, was charged with:

1. Assault
2. Sexual Assault
3. Forcible Confinement
4. Uttering Threats
5. Pointing a Firearm
6. five counts of Fail to Comply - Release Order
7. Possession of Proceeds of Crime
8. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Fentanyl
9. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Carfentanyl
10. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Cocaine
11. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - GHB
12. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Methamphetamine
13. Possession for the Purpose Schedule IV - Xanax
14. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
15. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
16. Possession of Firearm Unauthorized
17. Careless Storage of a Firearm

Danielle Borrie, 31, of Innisfil, was charged with:

1. Assault
2. Possession of Proceeds of Crime
3. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Fentanyl
4. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Carfentanyl
5. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Cocaine
6. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - GHB
7. Possession for the Purpose Schedule I - Methamphetamine
8. Possession for the Purpose Schedule IV - Xanax
9. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
10. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
11. Possession of Firearm Unauthorized
12. Careless Storage of a Firearm

Both are being held for bail hearings.

Shyla Big George, 27, was last seen on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., in the Highway 27 and Humber College Boulevard area.

She is described as 5'2", with a thin build, and short wavy red hair.

She was wearing a black and grey hoodie, black pants, white sandals and a denim backpack.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Arrest made in Israeli Consulate mischief investigation 2 Bloor Street East David Mivasair, 69,

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest made in relation to an investigation involving damage to the Consulate General of Israel.

On Friday, May 21, 2021, at 11:09 p.m., officers attended a damage call at 2 Bloor Street East; the Consulate General of Israel.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, May 21, 2021, at approximately 10:30 a.m. there was a protest involving a crowd that gathered out front of the building.

- during the protest, red paint was poured across the steps leading to the entrance of the building.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, officers arrested David Mivasair, 69, of Hamilton.

He has been charged with:

1. Mischief Under $5,000

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking.

Personal Injury Collision 16/2021, Don Mills Road at Gateway Boulevard

On Saturday, 22, May, 2021, at approximately 11:10 p.m., police received a report of a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the Don Mills Road and Gateway Boulevard area.

It is reported that:

- three vehicles were travelling southbound on Don Mills Road at a high rate of speed approaching Gateway Boulevard.

- one of these vehicles was a white 2015 BMW X6 being operated by an 18-year-old male.

- a 19-year-old male pedestrian was sitting in a TTC bus shelter on the east side of Don Mills Road, just south of the intersection.

- the BMW travelling at a high rate of speed, lost control, entered into the northbound lanes, mounted the sidewalk and struck the pedestrian who was within the TTC bus shelter.

- the male pedestrian suffered critical injuries, and was transported to hospital.

- the driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene, and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.

- the two other vehicles, a white vehicle possibly a Mercedes and black vehicle, possibly an Audi were last seen southbound on Don Mills Road.

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, business, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Police seek assistance identifying man involved in Indecent Act Investigation, 200 Elizabeth Street (Toronto General Hospital)

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance identifying a man involved in an Indecent Act Investigation.

On Friday, May 21, 2021 at approximately 7:00 a.m., police responded to a radio call for an indecent act 200 Elizabeth Street (Toronto General Hospital)

It is reported that:

- a male followed a female employee into the parking garage at Toronto General Hospital the employee locked herself in a bicycle cage to protect herself.

- the male was unable to get into the bicycle cage but remained outside it exposing his genitals.

- the male eventually exited the parking garage to where he was later seen approaching another female on Elizabeth street.

He is described as approximately 5’7, 150 lbs., thin build and a short beard. He was wearing a red puffy jacket with the hood up, black pants and black running shoes.

Homicide #24/2021, 25 James Park Square, Daisy Sehgal, 46

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a homicide investigation.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police responded to a wellness check at the address of 25 James Park Square.

It is reported that:

- when officers arrived, they located a woman in the hallway of the home, deceased with obvious signs of trauma

- officers also located a man in the basement of the home deceased

The woman has been identified as Daisy Sehgal, 46, of Toronto. An autopsy revealed her cause of death to be neck compressions.

The man has been identified as Anurag Kalwar, 50, of Toronto.

The Toronto Police Homicide unit has taken carriage of the investigation. The deaths are not being treated as suspicious, there are no outstanding suspects.

Arrest made in attempted kidnapping investigation, Finch Avenue West and Pearldale Avenue area

The Toronto Police would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a kidnapping investigation.

On Sunday May 23, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for an attempted kidnapping in the area of Finch Ave W and Pearldale Ave.

It is alleged that:

- a woman in her 30s was walking in the Pearldale Plaza parking lot

- the accused approached her and began a brief conversation

- the accused then grabbed the woman and tried to force her into his vehicle, but she was able to get away

- the accused then fled in a white Honda Civic, an image is attached

On Monday, May 24, 2021, Diavion Henningham, 21 of Brampton, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Kidnapping

He will appear virtually at Toronto North Court on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 10 a.m., in room 306.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims.

Online sales transaction robbery investigation, Scarborough Town Centre area, Security camera images of five suspects released

The Toronto Police Service is asking the public for assistance with a Robbery and Stabbing investigation related to an online sale.

On Monday, April 26, 2021, at approximately 7:15 p.m., two people attended the Scarborough Town Centre located at 300 Borough Drive to complete an online sale with a female.

It is reported that:

- two people were selling a cell phone

- they met with a female who attempted to steal the phone and ran off

- the two people chased her and were confronted by four others

- the four began punching both people and one was stabbed multiple times

- all suspects fled the area on foot

Security camera images released of the five suspects.

They are described as:

#1 - female, medium length black hair, glasses, wearing purple coat, black Fila shirt, black pants, black shoes

#2 - female, wearing a black winter coat with fur on the hood, black Nirvana shirt, black pants with “killin it” on left pant leg, Jordan One running shoes

#3 - male, black hair, wearing black Chicago Bulls baseball hat, black jacket, black pants

#4 - male, black hair, wearing Toronto Raptors Champions baseball hat, Raptors Covid mask, black coat, grey Nike pants, black shoes

#5 - male, Black, wearing Zoo York sweater
