Doctor arrested in sexual assault investigation, George Polemidiotis, 54

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a sexual assault investigation.

On Thursday, March 4, 2021, officers commenced a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a 16-year-old girl and a 26-year-old woman previously attended a medical clinic in the Marlee Avenue and Glencairn Avenue area for medical checks

- these appointments were between June, 2016 and December, 2020

- both were sexually assaulted during these visits

George Polemidiotis, 54, of Kleinberg, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) nine counts of Sexual Assault
2) four counts of Sexual Exploitation

He will appear at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 10 a.m., via video link.

George Polemidiotis has been a family practitioner at the medical centre for the past five years. He also has a practice in the Rutherford Road and Melville Avenue area, in Vaughan.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Missing Boy Located, Beverley Street and Dundas Street West area, Jahryeus Glave, 16

Arrest made in Hate-Motivated Mischief investigation, Over $140,000 in estimated damage, Bathurst Street and Bloor Street West area, Ives-Hipolth Vargas, 39, faces more than a dozen charges

The Toronto Police Service’s 14 Division has arrested a man alleged to have caused over $140,000 worth of damage in dozens of hate-motivated mischief incidents.

Between Friday, December 4, 2020 and Friday, March 5, 2021 several businesses and a Church were vandalized in the Bathurst Street and Bloor Street West area.

It is alleged that:

- several businesses had exterior storefront windows smashed

- a Church, which is over a hundred years old, had stained glass windows which were smashed on four separate occasions

- the total cumulative damage to all properties is estimated to be in excess of $140,000

14 Division investigators were able to identify a suspect believed to be responsible for all occurrences.

On Wednesday March 10, 2021, Ives-Hipolth Vargas, 39, of Toronto, was arrested.

He is facing the following 13 charges:

1. seven counts of Mischief to Property Under $5000

2. two counts of Mischief to Property Over $5000

3. four counts of hate-motivated mischief relating to religious property

The hate-motivated charges were laid in consultation with the Hate Crime Unit.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 10 a.m., at the Old City Hall court, 60 Queen Street West, court room 101.

When suspected hate-motivated offences are reported to police, the investigation will be led by a divisional investigator. The Hate Crime Unit will be made aware and specialized officers from that unit will support the investigation as needed.

If it is alleged a criminal offence was committed (such as assault or mischief) and it is believed to have been motivated by bias, prejudice or hate, the officer-in-charge will consult with the Crown. If a person is charged and convicted of the offence, the Judge will take into consideration hate as an aggravating factor when imposing a sentence.

Wilful promotion of hatred and advocating genocide are hate propaganda (hate speech) offences which require the Attorney General’s consent. Members of the Hate Crime Unit will provide assistance and support to the divisional investigators in seeking the Attorney General’s consent to lay these charges, if applicable. These charges are often laid at a later time.

Missing Woman, Dundas Street West and Lisgar Street area, Dorca Murray, 24

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing woman.

Dorca Murray, 24, was last seen on Sunday, March 7, 2021, in the Dundas Street West and Lisgar Street area.

She is described as 4'10", 181 lbs., shoulder-length black hair, and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a long brown winter coat, bright red scarf, and a medium size black purse.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Early Childhood Educator arrested in Child Abuse Investigation, Ta-Hath Martin, 45, Update, Facing two additional charges

The Toronto Police Service has laid further charges against a man as part of an ongoing child sexual assault investigation.

In January 2021 a news release was published seeking the public's assistance with the investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between Sunday, April 12, 2018 and Friday, December 18, 2020, a man was employed as an early childhood educator by NYAD Not Your Average Daycare. Specifically, at the Donwood location of 61 Dorcot Avenue in Toronto.

- between these dates the man repeatedly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 16 who was in his care

On Monday January 4, 2021 members of Sex Crimes from the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre arrested Ta-Hath Martin, 45, of Toronto. He was charged with:

1. Sexual Interference
2. Sexual Assault

Investigators established Ta-Hath Martin had been employed by NYAD Not Your Average Daycare since 2003 at the following locations:

1. NYAD Corvette – 30 Corvette Avenue
2. NYAD Midland – 720 Midland Avenue
3. NYAD Guildwood – 225 Livingston Road
4. NYAD Scarborough Village – 15 Luella Street
5. NYAD Progress – 939 Progress Avenue
6. NYAD Donwood – 61 Dorcot Avenue

As a result of the release, new information was received and investigated.

It is further alleged that:

- between April 17, 2004 to December 31, 2008, a man was employed as an early childhood educator by NYAD Not Your Average Daycare. Specifically, at NYAD Corvette – 30 Corvette Avenue.

- between these dates the man repeatedly sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 16 who was in his care

On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, Ta-Hath Martin, 45, of Toronto, was arrested by officers from the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre. He is charged with

1. Sexual Interference
2. Sexual Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Monday, March 22, 2021, at 2 p.m.

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Helmut Jasper, 78, was last seen on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 11 p.m., in the St. Clair Avenue East and O'Connor Drive area.

He is described as 5'11", with a slim build, and short white hair. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans, and a grey Nike baseball hat.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Joseph Attutuvaa, 29, was last seen on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at approximately 7:45 p.m., in the area of Bathurst Street and Dundas Street West area.

He is described as 5’8”, 170 lbs, with long black wavy hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a blue winter jacket, a beige hooded sweater, navy pants, navy shoes and a blue surgical face mask.

Personal Injury Collision #5/2021, St Clair Avenue East and Plaxton Drive

The Toronto Police Service is appealing for information from the public after a woman was injured in a collision.

On Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 2:40 p.m., police responded to a personal injury collision between a pedestrian and a pickup truck, at St Clair Avenue East and Plaxton Drive.

It is reported:

- a 58-year-old woman was crossing St. Clair Avenue East on the west side of the intersection

- a 61-year-old man was driving a grey 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck north bound on Plaxton Drive

- the man was making a left turn to head west on St. Clair Avenue East and struck the woman

- the woman suffered life-threatening head injuries and was transported to hospital

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Man Arrested and Firearm Seized, Denison Avenue and Queen Street West area, Joshua St Paul Geness, 28

The Toronto Police Service has arrested a man and seized a loaded handgun as part of a firearm investigation.

On Friday, March 12, 2021, at 3:48 a.m., police responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the Dension Avenue and Queen Street West area.

It is alleged:

- a large number of people were gathered together at a property where someone had a firearm on them

- police arrived on scene and the Emergency Task Force gained access to the building

- the crowd dispersed and ran in multiple directions

- a man was detained at the scene and a loaded handgun was found on him

On Friday, March 12, 2021, Joshua St Paul Geness, 28, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. two counts of possess restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
2. Unlicenced person Possess prohibited or restricted weapon
3. Carry concealed weapon
4. Possession of a weapon
5. Possess loaded regulated firearm
6. two counts of Possession of schedule I substance
7. two counts of Possess firearm while prohibited

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, March 12, 2021, in room 104.

Six people arrested for a series of Retail Robberies, Toronto, Peel, York, Burlington and New Tecumseth areas, Two males wanted

Six arrests have been made as part of a Hold Up Squad-led investigation into eight robberies across Toronto, Peel, York, Halton and Alliston.

It is alleged that:

- between Wednesday, November 4, 2020 and Tuesday, March 9, 2021, a group of males coordinated robberies involving cell phone stores, pharmacies, and retail stores in the Greater Toronto Area

- they used numerous stolen vehicles to travel to and from locations

- they would enter the target locations and use threats, violence and weapons to take over employees

- they would then load up on merchandise and cash before fleeing in their getaway vehicle


The Toronto Police Hold Up Squad, with support from Peel, York, O.P.P. and Halton Police, were able to identify the suspects.

On Wednesday, March 9, 2021, three males were arrested by the Toronto Hold Up Squad.

Jamal Blenman, 19, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
4. Fail to Comply Probation

A boy, 15 and a boy, 16, both of Brampton, were each charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

All three appeared in court virtually at Toronto West Court – 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 10 a.m., room 206.


On Thursday, March 11, 2021, with the assistance of 23 Division officers from the Major Crime Unit and Community Crime Unit, plus 22 Division's Major Crime Unit, the Emergency Task Force and Peel Regional Police, five criminal code search warrants were executed in both the Toronto and Peel areas.

A boy, 17, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. seven counts of Robbery
2. four counts of Robbery while Armed with a firearm
3. six counts of Disguise with Intent
4. four counts of Forcible Confinement
5. six counts of Possession or Property Obtained by Crime
6. three counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle
7. Theft of Gas
8. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
9. 24 counts of Fail to Comply Probation

A boy, 17, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
2. Fail to Comply Probation

Both are scheduled to appeared in court virtually at Toronto West Court – 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 10 a.m., room 206


Also on Thursday, March 11, 2021, a 17-year-old boy, of Brampton, was arrested by Peel Regional Police and was charged. The Toronto Police Service will charge him with the below offences at a later date:

1. three counts of Robbery with a Firearm
2. four counts of Robbery
3. three counts of Disguise with Intent
4. Forcible Confinement
5. two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle
6. four counts of Possession Over $5000

Two males are wanted as part of this large multijurisdictional investigation.

Bobby Osagie, 18, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1. Robbery
2. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence

A boy, 17, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1. two counts of Robbery with a Firearm
2. two counts of Disguise with Intent
3. two counts of Possession Over $5000
4. two counts of Fail to Comply Probation

If seen, do not approach and call 9-1-1.

Jason Earle, 38, was reported missing to police on Friday, March 12, 2021, and was last seen on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Sherbourne Street and Wellesley Street East area.

He is described having a slim build, with short black hair, and a scar on his left wrist. There is no clothing description available.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Mahamed Ali Salad, 27, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1. Assault
2. Uttering Threats
3. Criminal Harassment
4. Possession of a Firearm Without a License
5. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm

He is described as 6'4", 174 lbs., with a slim build, brown eyes, short black hair, and clean shaven.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach.

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance identifying a a suspect involved in a Criminal Harassment investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at approximately 5:45 p.m., three girls were playing in a park in the Dufferin Street and Bloor Street West area.

- a man followed the three girls around the park

-the man gave chase to the girls

- the girls managed to run away from the man

The man is described as being in his late teens to early twenties, 5'9", with a slim build, and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and black jacket, black pants, camouflage-coloured headphones, and was holding a basketball.

He is described as 5'10", 210 lbs., with strawberry blonde unkept hair, and a bushy red beard. He was last seen wearing a blue winter coat with white patterns, old blue track pants, tan work boots. He may be wearing a toque or ball cap.
